No more finger pointing (parents, government, testing). Teachers everywhere "get it." Now what do we DO about it? Perhaps a nationwide REVOLT against testing. What would happen if every school everywhere simply refused to complete the "tests." Would they close them all down? Take away all the funding?
Parents need to bear some of the burden here as well. Yes, our schools are flawed, but nothing will inspire a child to read like seeing their parents reading. I think it's one of the greatest gifts my parents gave me...seeing them reading for pleasure.
Kindegarden dosen't belong in school their way to young for that kind of setting. it's sick having 5 year olds in school it's all about control the teachers and principals are control/power freaks
Spot on. Glad to see there are many good young, fresh teachers who think this way. I can't wait until this is the norm when all the dinosaurs in the way retire and leave the system. There IS hope for the future!
Amazing job on the video. I hope all these students get the individualized attention they deserve. Also, these teachers deserve higher praise and honors and definitely a damn higher pay wage/salary. Teachers work too hard for too little and that's why many just don't give a rat's ass anymore.
Because it's not 'basic testing' anymore. Everything is being broken down and tested individually and you just can't do that with some subjects. It makes the students exhausted and lagged out to a point where they just don't care. They may understand what's being tested, but don't understand the test itself, and that can cause problems later down the road. They're right, there is way to much testing beyond the standard and basic and it's getting to the point where it's becoming sickening.
Why blame basic testing? Good teachers will provide instruction that is much higer in rigor and relevance then a test. The classroom should always be "harder" than a test. Stop blaming tests. Teaching is hard work.
