  • Very good, i like you performance of the kata very much! I would like to learn it do on the same level!

  • Excellent. My only beef was with the second jump, but that's only because the way I was taught is you jump straight back up as soon as you hit the ground, THEN freeze on the second shuto (rather than freeze while crouched, then jump up.) Great job, for what it's worth from this beginner.

  • Well done... but I don't know how he have a sound coming out of his mouth for every move he does... that is not the proper way of breathing in a kata...

  • sick kata dude, well done

  • Every time I see a kata like this, I see how different the various styles (ryuha) are. Especially around the botori (staff taking) - totally different from what I learned...

  • Sorry, meant chudan uke, not shuto.

  • Clean performance! More hip twists on the shuto uke will really help it shine even better.

  • Kata was good and all but the kiais in the backround scared me cuz i was like "is that a kiai or screams of pain?"

  • Good Speed, but no power.

  • ur jump was awesome! specifically ur jump. i literally stopped that one part like 8 times. gots 2 practice my weakness. :D

  • good speed and power...just lack of hip movements on the blocks though.

  • not sayin that i culd do betta but i feel he shortcuts a few moves and is slightly slow

    any1 agree???

  • wOw you should be in the JKA

    really

i think guichin funakoshi would be glad to see

that there are alot of great karate masters

  • good effort m8

  • nice kata...yah i agree its kinda slow a little bit sumtyms...

  • nice kata...yah i agree its kinda slow a little bit sumtyms...

  • Nice, but I think sometimes a little bit too slow. Nice, congratulations.

  • so do I

I always do Kanku-sho in tournaments

  • Hy gays...

    I love your Kanku-sho performenc...

    Nice job Phill

    That's my favorite Kata... :P

  • nice form. Couple things: 1) make sure you always turn your head before you move; 2) your punches are very fast but your hip torque generating the power is not evident. less arms, more hips. Kiai for the technique, not the theater. Loved the video. Hope you got a medal!

    Keep training.

  • gkr is not a style, its bits of shotokan and bits of goju ryu mixed together and flogged door to door, to gullible people like you.

  • gkr isnt that the australian pyrimid selling group.

  • Oh my god not another wanker that has to have a go at GKR. Firstly ewe cant spell and secondandly, oh dont bother talking to anyone who has to have a go at other styles is noramlly a waste of time. However as you note i like all styles. I jusy am doing GKR. So show some respect for a club that is huge and has been going for 30 years.

  • Anothe classic example of "nerves kicking in"... Everything is rushed; no groundedness, no kimai. The difficulty of performing kata in competition resides not in the actual performing of it, but in giving EACH technique its proper kimai.

  • I just learned Kanku Sho from Yamazaki Sensei of the JKF. Your performance is amazing and technically perfect. Very good video.

  • what is the name of the person doin kata?

  • The name is Philip Takano, a little regional hero from Bavaria/Germany, but no big deal internationally...

  • Great to watch. I do GKR and i am not up to this yet but i watch all sorts of kata. i reckon you can learn from other styles and katas to help you at what ever level you are at. What style are you?? cheers

  • Just out of Curiosity do you know Kanku Sho?

  • No not as yet. i know 9 katas, all works in progress as they say. Before kanko sho in GKR their are 3 others to learn. Its a third dan kata in GKR. I see it when a couple of 2nd dans do it. As i said its great to watch and to watch other styles. Some people poo poo a style they don't do. I can't see the point in doing that. All the best & merry xmas

  • I could say that we are not that different when it comes to karate as I also like to watch other styles and learn. I Practice GKR and am 5th Kyu. I know all the kata up to and including Kururunfa. They are all a work in progress though including the very first katas. and I can't say the Kanku Dai amd Kururunfa I practice are GKR versions.

  • Impressed.. Gambatte Kudasai :)

  • Nice form, maybe a little slow in places - like you were thinking too much? I liked it though, I think most peoples comments are fair and constructive.

  • it seems like u could punch/kick harder than that. techniques are for A, speed also, but strength(or maybe kime) is C-..

    it's a very good performance.

  • no define tecnicas , no usa cadera para nada, bonita forma conclusion un kata mediocre

  • Very good performance. And you still do a "real" kata, you move your head before your body etc. Very nice!

  • great kata and nice looking gi. both videos were excellent.

  • one of my favs, you do it justice.

  • V good kata, Personally I'd say you rush the double punches slightly. The first one especially looks incomplete.

Also I'd say speed up your Keagi's, but i'm just being picky now.

Very good, did you do well with it?

  • hast du vielleicht noch andere katavideos von dir? (sochin, gankaku oder empi)

  • sehr gut
