  • The reason this doesn't work is that the music doesn't fit the era or the scene. It sounds like a poorly edited temp score. A contemporary score only works with a contemporary film. The score Marc Parella wrote is fabulous and works exceedingly well. His orchestral score was written to a split second to the edits and in many ways that does a lot for whether a score works or not. It is also music that sounds 1963 and not 2011.

  • I think i like it better in without any music... i like the way hitchcock did that! kept us on the edge of our seat!

  • raped lol.

  • I read in an interview that Tippi went up to Hitchcock and asked "After everything that's just happen with this girl why on earth would she go up the stairs alone?" And Hithcock turned very slowly to Hedren an said

    "Because I told you".

    Good job!

  • Dont mess with Hitchcock.

  • That was the whole genius of Hitchcock. No music needed. This mere suggestion of score addition is just that an idea. Leave this film alone.

  • Did you guys know that this scene was actual filmed wrong. The birds really did start attacking the girl but Alfred wouldnt let them stop filming and she actually did faint after the scene was over she wanted to sue him but she couldnt because he had way to much money and lawyers TO BE sued but he did apologize and explained to her that he couldnt afford to stop filming because it was real and you cant get better then real fear

  • Nop, did not like it, the original is ok.

  • I never realised before that there was no point in Tippi going up to the attic.

  • very good scene :)))

  • Very good job with the music. By the way, that's her bedroom, not an attic. Don't you see the bed, lamp, dresser, picture?

  • Comment removed

  • I liked the music leading up to the attic.... really good

  • DONT OPEN THE DOOR YOU KNOW THEY'RE IN THE ATTIC!!! DUMB BITCH!!!! RUN FOR YOUR FRIGGING LIFE!!!!!!!!!! lol xxx

  • Regarding this new soundtrack...I was floored by its effectiveness! Never thought I'd approve of any kind of score! What an amazing job!

  • This is my FAVORITE film of all time! Ever since I was 10 years old, this movie has fascinated me...with its senseless bird attacks, no soundtrack and countless special effects which makes the viewing experience so realistic. When I met 'Tippi' Hedren, I was literally speechless. What she endured was horrific; elastic bands were wrapped around her body, threaded through her costume, and attached to the legs of the frightened birds that were literally thrown at her!

  • get out!!!! get out!!!

  • Lets Review, Women hears noise in attic, goes up there with a big-ass flashlight, birds attack. Hey why dont ya roll yourself in bread crumbs whilr your at it.

  • I honestly find hitchcock movies way scarier without music.

  • Uhhh shower movie in Psycho...

    Uhhmm...

IDK what'd be like without music.

  • if this was facebook id click like

  • Wow you are clever, nice job!! I just watched this for a film course and its so much more suspenseful with a soundtrack like this <33

  • Hello you guys and gals should remember something that if the woman wouldn't go up there how would they know birds are up there and by giving her that line of opening the door and flashing the light at the birds and she being attacked is part of the movie but you know at the end the guy pulls her out and then they leave

  • But WHY is she in the attic?!?!?

  • The music works v well. Odd film in that I never 'miss' the music.

  • why is it, that in all horror movies, whenever the character hears a noise form the attic, they HAVE TO GO UP THERE?? i wouldn't go up there for shit!!

  • too funny, but it's true..it's either the basement or the attic and they always go there with a big fat fllashlight..they might as well tape a target on them while there at it.

  • That part is SO disgusting! We're sitting here watching a chick get pecked and bit by birds to the point of insanity.

  • Really though...there should be a reason why the door won't open. I don't know why she doesn't just TURN AROUND AND OPEN THE DOOR. It's not like the birds are a pack of wolves, or a bunch of thieves...The only problem with this movie is why the characters make as many dumb moves as they do. Interesting job on the music, btw. It really does make the scene different, doesn't it?

  • Thanks for your comment! That's the magic word you used...different. I was just trying to make it different...not better...It's an alternate take on this scene. And yes, they DO make dumb choices, don't they? I guess if they thought like we would, there would be no movie. :)

  • hi can you put The Birds 2 Trailer please? pretty please? :)

  • The thing you have to remember is these birds are heavy, and strong. Your natural instint is to be going away from them. As the door opens towards her, it would be hard to battle agasint the onslaught of birds to open it farn enough, evently she seems to give up from exastion and pain

  • I've been attacked by a sparrow (and that was literally NOTHING.) A seagull is different matter, you're right. I've had one peck my head on the seattle ferry. But even if they are going at you, you'd still be able to turn around and cover your head, and open the door. The reason the birds isn't one ofhis greatest is because stupid do typical horror movie stuff...like what she does.

  • I know as soon as I saw those birds i would have ran out of that room!

  • @JawsVictim Panic, my friend and sheer terror

  • @JawsVictim

It's like in Volcano. Everyone has to slow down for the lava to catch them.

  • The music fits perfectly. I also like rescoring some horror films with The Matrix soundtrack. I did it with the The Ring (when Samara comes out of the TV).

  • It dosen't work. It's much better without a score. The slight flutter leading up the stairs and then the full on attack noises.

  • I agree. The quiet is scarier than any score.

  • I appreciate your input, guys...thanks. My objective, however, was not to make the movie "better" by adding something I thought was missing (I love the movie without a score) but to simply deal with synchs and see how many can be placed in a particular scene. I'm not saying that this way is "better".

  • I think the movie was so suspenseful already it didn't even need a score (Obviously Hitchcock did too)

but it really helps doesn't it? It's so much freakier!

    Great job

  • Why Blondes???...

    WHY!!!

  • The standard cool blond was the kind of girl you'd worry about and feel sorry for in movies like these.

And it became one of Hitchcock's biggest signatures to his movies (except the Trouble With Harry....Shirley Maclaine a redhead)

I think any hair color can make a woman beautiful but I sort of like how Hitchcock was into blondes...it sort of adds to the classiness of his movies

  • the music if from the bit in the matrix were marphius gets his ass handed to him agent an agent in a tioet :) lol

  • BIRDSTRIKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • wat a retard..why would she go in the attic if you hear noise. wat a retarded woman

  • That's exactly what my brother said. He said, she should have told the guy about it. :p

  • Great!

  • wow that's really amazing! :O good job!

  • The music leading up the stairs is spot on. And the attack music is very effective too for this scene. And very nice exit :) It's interesting how these Matrix cues actually fit in a 60s movie.
