At the time Phillip Garrido was paroled, there was no such thing as "victim's rights" and rape cases were often ignored.

There were many instances where local police were told that there were kids living on Garrido's property, being taken places in his car, but the police did nothing did nothing. They missed several chances to rescue Duggard.

Also, I don't believe in revenge/vengeance. Murder is wrong no matter who is doing it. We have evolved better than to resort to barbarism and to resort to getting on the same level as the criminals. Two wrong don't make a right. And regardless of who you are, no one has the authority to take someone else's life, no matter how horrible we might think what they do is. Also, rehabilitation DOES work in many cases.

Also, there are many who have been proven to have been wrongly convicted despite what was considered as "strong evidence" against them at the time... it either turns out to be circumstantial or there's some kind of flaw in it... since there is a even a tiny chance that someone would be wrongly executed, it shouldn't be done.

Should you keep capital punishment but in the end build more prisons, those costs cancel one another out (re: research shows it's more expensive placing one to death than having them serve life). That's also assuming there's a correlation between capital punishment and prison construction, an unlikely possibility.

Judge Judy stated erroneous information.  Studies in the U.S. show that only 4 - 10% of convicted Sex Offenders are re-arrested for a new sexual offense. And those who have the highest incident of re-offending are teens who are probably having sex with other teens but get arrested because of parents who can't accept that their loving daughter is having sex with an unpopular kid. Judge Judy is not a criminal judge and she should apologize for speaking lies.

Apparently, from a study of 1994 releases of prison, 43% of sex offenders (and 68% of non-sex offenders) were rearrested within 3 years. However, the reason for rearrest was 5x more likely for a sex offense with the sex offenders.
