@ksclark3522 - it had disks on the front, drums on the rear. Suspension wasn't THAT bad compared to contemporary cars... but I won't defend interior build quality, there were all kinds of bits that would come loose and rattle, especially in the earlier models.
indeed - should've had disks on the back as well like the p6, then you might have had half a chance of stopping one. the vitesse/vdp efi twin pot brakes are better but still not great for a 190bhp 1.5 tonne car!
handling isn't a patch on the p6 either with it's de dion setup.

in styling certainly, if not in it's mechanicals. disc brakes and decent suspension would've been good, and some sort of build quality....

145 on the P6, 155bhp in sd1 form.
190bhp on the fuel injected vitesse/vanden plas efi lump.

2 litre rover t series. sold the p6 last week, and the sd1 is awaiting collection by a mate.
bought a vanden plas efi to replace it though....
