  • This should really be a testimonial to how good builders w/no blower door test can get a house pretty much perfect on air exchange rate every time. Didn't even use sealed cans, or seal IC cans! But good that they didnt', or the home would have probably been too tight. I really expected our homes to vary more than they did, but .33 to .35 was measured in nearly every home, no extra caulking/foam/housewrap. HVAC industry messes up heating+cooling enough, trust them for my fresh air? Nah.

  • .33 is right at the LIMIT for too tight. The V is taken care of by what we like to call natural air change rate. This system of fresh air is pretty much bulletproof and has no energy difference than that of an "april air" or non-erv type fresh air system. The only difference between natural and mechanical natural airflow if no air to air exchanger is used, is that the mechanical will fail at some point, and should really be maintained properly which could have a higher cost/lower reliability.
