  • I would also like to say thanks just finished helping my red tail out and came off with ease with this method....again thx

  • very helpful thank you for the video

  • Thanks sooo much my snake had a horrible shed and I performed this assist in the shed to day and it came off perfectly not only to mention he loved the bath. His colors beautiful and he's much more relaxed thanks so much again but also he hasn't ate in 2 weeks from the start of the shed he isn't losing weight though but any tips he's much better thanks!

  • Ok i just got my ball python about say....6 weeks ago? and its a young one, not sure how old but about a foot and a half or so big, he just tried shedding and it was a terrible shed...the humidity levels are high, well around 65-80 depending on the part of the day, i helped him out a little bit and i would soak him in baths every other day just because he liked it but it didn't seem to help with the shed anyway. he still has his head to go and the tip still hasn't came off, any tips for help?

  • She is a b-e-a-u-tiful girl.

Anyone who says snakes are icky and gross are very confused. Snakes are amazing and wonderful animals. I hope my Ball grows up like yours.(:

  • Haha really? its a sensitive area? haha. no shit, its the snakes reproductive place haha, well, thanks! :)

  • @VegetaranEmoKid I'd like to think yeah that's obvious enough but yeah there are a lotta sidewalk lickers out there ...& thanks for the laugh lol

  • She's so cuuuute! :D

  • seriously thanks for this vid

  • Thanks so much for this vid! I'll keep a better eye on the humidity in the future but I have to admit working in tandem with my snake was a really awesome and profound experience - it helped to establish some much needed trust after a little biting incident.

  • thank you :) this really helps and i can actually SEE what im suppossed to do i dont rlly understand when i haz to read it :)

  • @moomoopowa you are ever so welcome...I am really glad it's helped out so many people. :)

  • From:first time snake owner

thank you so much i thought i had some defective ball python that didnt shed correctly

    :P

  • wow, shes so comfortable with you :) i just got mine and i want us to have a good relationship, but im afraid of her bite lol

but i love her alreadyyy- if you have any advice on how to keep them calm around you, let me know!

  • @isis3275 no point in being afraid of her bite, it will happen once maybe and its not painful a puppy is worse lol just get her used to your sent, take it slow though 3-5 days a week for 5-10 mins to start with

  • i just did this.. thanks for the idea and the vid!! my snake looks nice and new now. It was in shed mode for 2 weeks so i had to do something!!!

  • @manny1445 Glad to have helped!

  • NEED HELP!!!...My carpet python just shed 3 days ago and when i went through his body,i found some left skin on his body..the size of the left skin is just about a scale of my python's scale though, really small, but it concerns me...i sprayed his body with water and tried to peel it off with my hand but it didnt came off...should i leave it until the next shed?coz im afraid that the left skin will stuck and make it even worse on his next shed...

  • lol i have had to do that to my corn snake b4 lol he bit the crap out of me,he really diden't like the water lol.

  • that snake is to chill

  • Hi again!! I just wanted to say thank you very much! Just gave him a nice bath with he just swam all over the place. I used alittle piece of tape to start him off and I think he actually liked it! He slowly pulled himself out and I think he liked when I gently rubbed it down off of him. He was like her in the video just calm and relaxed. I put him in his tank in his light and warmed a pinky rat for him and as soon as it went in he snatched it right away!! Hes a happy camper now!! thank you!

  • Ok I have a BP that has been looking silver for like 2 weeks now and started right before he was supposed to eat again so he hasnt eaten in like almost 4 weeks now. Did you soak your snake before you helped him shed? How long should I soak him for and you said to use tape to start it on his head? Im worried about him eating and want to feed him. Please help! Thank you.

  • a good way to get the eye caps off with out using tape is to use the finger things that mail mans use to sort mail quickly. thats what i used and it was very effective!

  • Im a ball owner and this is his 3rd shed. What or why assist the sheddding process? My ball sheds fine on its own, does not shed in one piece but sheds none the less. I have sandstone rocks that his dens are made out of and a dried branch thing. Plenty of things for the snake to rub against.

  • i've had to help my BP with some of shead so i went a bought a fog machine and use it whenever i see the eyes blue.

  • what happens if the vent bleeds? is is bad or does it stop quickly?

  • is it true that snake don't like it when u touch there tail

  • looks like a fancy condom :L ojoj nice snake :D

  • mr snakey. and it was a joke.

  • you ask him and im sure he'll tell you. yeah 1. no need to be an A hole i just wouldnt do it.

  • i didnt choose to use duct tape he got caught on it.

anyway... still bad idea i say. use the olive oil cotto n bud trick much more gentle and allows much more control over what your doing than pulling off tape no matter how careful you are its not easy to get off.. trust me

  • DEFINATELY DO NOT DO THIS! BAD ADVICE!

my royal got caught on duct tape and its eyes got damaged and he couldnt see properly until he finally shed the caps a month later.

this could take off more skin than you want it to. best bet is to use a bit of olive oil on a cotton bud and really gently rub.

  • how big is she? and how old?

  • hi my ball python was having trouble shedd and i was doing what you did and when i go to the vent i think i pulled alittle to fast and it started bleeding not much though barley any but should i take it to the vet?

  • uhh im not sure i would want to put scotch tape on my snakes eyes then gently pull it off (when it is shedding) wht if you accedntly make your snakes eye come out or make it bleed....

  • bal python?

  • Doesnt it hurt your snake... and how come u have to make sure theris no skin left on the tail... My best friend and I both got house snakes for christmas and instead of doing tht we let them soak then we take a peice of wood from ther cage and let them do it themselves tht way it doesnt hurt them and we get a whole shed.. well almost...:)

  • i ment the snakes cute lol

  • lol I figured...didn't think it was my hands lol

  • aww thats so cute

    good job :)

  • definitely let them shed at their own pace....but if you mean the rest of the body has shed except the head...a good trick is to get some sphagnum moss (you can buy this at Wal Mart in the florist dept. for less than 2 bucks) and fill a tub with the dampened moss and leave your snake in it for several hours, in a warm spot (about 82 -84 degrees and no hotter). The stuck on stuff should come off.

  • Right, I agree you shouldn't have to do this....however sometimes it can't be helped...such as this case. I was given two Ball Pythons both which apparently, had bad owners previously. Both snakes were stressed out, and experienced retained sheds. I get a few questions a month about what to do if a snake has a stuck on shed. This is my method & it's been foolproof thus far. I like your idea too and hope people read that and take your advice as well. Prevention is better than cure.

  • Hey you ball Python is very thick lol nice is it over weight by ne chance i like them thick tho:p

  • naw she wasn't overweight...she's actually a teeny on the too slim side for a Ball. Only in the snake world do the thick chicks get all the compliments lol

  • thanks for the help. me and my python watched this and now were off to try it...

  • You're obviously a good mommy.. That's awesome.. My baby ball python is currently going through a bad shed. I'm gonna try what you did tomorrow.. Thanks! :)

  • no, she had already gotten the head and eye caps off, but that was all she could get off. The rest was glued onto her it seemed like. poor girl.

  • did you wait till the skin was off her head or did you peel it off while it was on the head?

  • nope...not true...you can aide them...wait...I think you mean if they have no issues, don't help them shed right? That's correct. This Ball Python had a stuck on shed though and couldn't get it all off.

  • i heard that you werent supposed to help her! i let mine go solo! no assistance from me!
