  • you aint really digging if you aint digging... ya dig?

  • by 'even if its not clean thee' does he mean shit like loops that have voices over it or wwhat

  • fuckin love madlib

  • 4x4 WHEELS SONG

  • the beginning instrumental is sampled from eleanor rigby by vanilla fudge...go to 5:25 if u listen to the song on youtube

  • I got some latin samples yall never heard before and im still diggin for more.. i luv diggin!!

  • i do both net and crate diggin and still feels the same

  • internet police in the house. reeeeeeeearrrrrrrrrrr, rrrreeeeeeeearrrrrrr. eat a dick peasants.

  • Here, "Dig" this...

What have you hip-hoppers dug up that wasn't already known to most R&B/Soul collectors? You're 30 years too late man.

  • @drwhatson bahaha! it's all about going beyond the R&B/Soul sections. Library music, latin records, french rock, Japanese synth jazz, disneyland records, everything. In fact, Madlib used a Disneyland record on this album.

  • @PrymeAte Good luck to him - but leave the classic Soul music alone!

  • @drwhatson Why don't you leave the people that like madlibs music alone... or at least come up with better arguments! :P

  • @Cosm0pol The total and utter CRAP that your generation come up with is all the argument I need, so f**k 'Mad-lips' and all of his kind.

  • <3

  • Production is an issue because it affects the sound. You might make some nice beats sampling off the net, but it's not going to sound like this. This is pure heroin for loop junkies.

  • dope!

  • although I will agree the term "tubedigging" sounds pretty wack. But remember, good music is about passion, heart, soul, and the true beauty of creation not the avenue of production employed. Anyone who disagrees has been spending their whole life missing the point

  • whole lot of pretentious fakes commenting here who probably don't even make beats. Youtube is the future, you should embrace the technology and marvel at the miracle that so much wonderful music is right here at our finger tips breeding the next generation of loop junkies. But instead you hate and denigrate, no true hip-hop fans our soul in this thread

  • @somethingvelvet Real talk./.

  • @somethingvelvet

    i agree 100 percent.

  • @somethingvelvet int not pathetic its useless why would you want to download a shitty quality version when you find the crisp original sound on vinyl, thats why its pathtic

  • Which Madlib albums should I get? What are the best ones?

  • @FINbball all of them

  • @PMCinc100 nigga, madlib got like 50 albums released/produced.

  • @FINbball calm down man im just playing with ya. I liked Champion Sound alot, Soundpeices: Da Antidote was good too but thats old. Madvilliany is also good but you have to like MF DOOM as well. Look for Beat Konducta Vol 1-2 : Movie Scenes as well, or any of the Beat Konducta albums. Theyre all pretty good.

  • @PMCinc100 ok thanks, the only madlib album i got it the lootpack album, and it's pretty good. I don't really like MF DOOM, but I guess I could cop that shit. anyway, thanks

  • @FINbball all of them

  • 1.40 - 1.45 Genius.

  • LPzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !!!!

  • You can dig wherever the fuck you want. You gotta find them samples. Thats all its about bitches.

  • 1:42 Lol did they leave w/out paying or something? haha

  • Lol you guys crack me up. You sound like traditional musicians who were still saying that sampling is talentless theft only a few years ago. You can 'dig' on 'youtube', why the fuck not? Is it as raw as searching through record shops and thrift stores? Nah. Does it have the mystique? Not yet. But God knows I've lifted samples from the net that I've never seen physically... Henrick Dybrecki for example. Or Nico Martinez. And in twenty years 'tubediggers' are going to be shitting on the next breed

  • @isolateslowfaults Hell ya man I agree with you. I mak beats and there isnt one place in my town that sells records, and even if they did, using an mp3 converter on youtube gives you a huge selection and you dont have to pay cash,

  • this is my anthem when i go out diggin!

  • like i said, always on point. Look up Infinite Hype - Elision, dopeshit

  • OOOOOOOO EEEEEEEEEE

  • @smoothrasin Dude I was looking for that song right now! I haven't heard that song in years and I don't know anyone else who has heard it

  • @smoothrasin yo i believe its loopdigga bside of weeded single

  • @smoothrasin yo i believe its loopdigga bside of weeded single

  • @TheShredder858 Sup, Thanks 4 the info it was a big help! I found the track i had been lookn' for since 03' YOU need any help let me know.

  • 8 people like cd's

  • such a good tune

  • one of the best tunes, ever...shouts to all the crate diggers!

  • 30 bills 40 bills

  • you cant phuck with the lootpack....

    KAMEL ROCKS...........L.A

  • Justifying "tubedigging" on a Madlib video for Crate Diggin is jus total disrespect, Madlib doesnt even use a computer for God's sake.

  • can anybody decipher what's written on that record madlib is holding @1:35 ?

  • Yo imagine him and Guru on a track both their voices are monotone R.I.P Guru

  • anyone else see the hiero logos???damn man madlib is the greatest invention since toilet paper

  • my sh*t!!!!

  • if someone can tell me the difference between a beat sampled from youtube and one from a record ill give yuou a special suprise there is a difference in quality no doubt but you aint going to hear it. So in most cases why would you bother hunting through a endless pile of random records rather than hittin a button. just my 2 cents

  • @maaxwell3435 the difference is to when you find records you can not even wikipedia or youtube. LOL Lazy ass bitc** BOUT DIGI DIGGING ahahahahah FUCCOUGHTAHERE! LOL

  • @maaxwell3435 it's fun to go out and find dope records , what's fun about using youtube ? , send me the same beat , one sampled from youtube the other from a record , i'm up for you're pepsi challenge ! ,also you won't find the really rare stuff , when it's online it's not rare anymore now is it., and if you have good monitor speakers you WILL hear a big difference in quality.

so hit me up ! i want that suprise hehe

  • @iggyds89 It is a lot more fun to find a dope record to sample to me, but there is still a ton of rare sounds on the internet that you can't ever find on vinyl. If you already know what you want to sample you could just look it up, but it's not the same as finding a great record. Why not just combine the two? All of the sounds out there are up for grabs, gotta make use of what we can :P

Sometimes it's not even the quality, it's the crackle from the vinyl that does it hah.

  • @iggyds89 oh actually I re-read it. I wrote it weird but I was tryin to say you can get a lot of cool sounds from the internet that you would never find on vinyl, so why not utilize both? I'll always love digging through vinyl more, but there's some good stuff out there to use. It's a Neutral standpoint. Haha

  • @snerkadacerca you wrote " if someone can tell me the difference between a beat sampled from youtube and one from a record ill give yuou a special suprise there is a difference in quality no doubt but you aint going to hear it " ..... send me those beats man, i want my surprise !

  • @maaxwell3435 because, one they sound better, cant explain why, but they do. 2, your music, artist, album, and knowledge game goes up. you never know, you can find some ok ish, but you may just run into some gold. ive found some of the dopest records in my collection by accident. 3, you may point out the fact that you can on youtube, but the fact that you said that tells me how much music is loosing its soul. when i make a beat, i think about it like this, what is there to sample? records/games

  • YOU RETARDS DONT REALIZE a you tube song is MP3 format- you know THE WORST POSSIBLE DIGITAL COMPRESSED MEDIA - if you use sounds off youtube its gonna sound flat and stale

  • For the final cherry on top..... Homeboy isn't gonna care what you used to make the instro when he takes your track in the studio and drops vocals over it. It's all about the final sound. No matter what you did you put in on disc you wont know the difference with proper mastering.

  • For the record I've made 2k in 6 months from local artists selling instro's with 'tube dug' samples ripped from sites. I did'nt have the money for an mp...didnt know a cat with one to use. So I should put down my dream and love for this shit cause of no funds? Fuck you. Period. Now I have the money to get my lp's. My mp's and my keys. All thanks to Tube diggin. 9th told me on an interview nigga's like 'talkin'. He started as a pc producer. With Fruity Loops. So shove it...and SHOW ME SUMTHIN.

  • tubedigging??? its just looking in the biggest record shop in the world. tell me that aint a bad thing

  • tube digging for a crate digging is like a wanking in the front of computer screen for going out and having sex with a hot chick. totally unclassy and pathetic way to spend life.

  • hows tubedigging pathetic....when u love music like most here do and dont have the resource to find good music this is the best outlet i mean shit i live in florida one of the worst states to live in music is horrible and so many ppl are in the radio mtv n yes including b.e.t. bandwagon of horrible music that tubediggin in my escape so with that said thats what tubedigging means to me

  • @dastiks I agree! I moved to the midwest from Orlando back in October this year (2010) because Florida fell lame. And O-Town used to have the biggest break beat scene back in the late 90's. Now it's all wanksta music. 3 out of 4 rof the best record shops in Orlando closed. It's easy for some 'know-it-all' nigga to say it's whack on Youtube. Move to Orlando and see. Don't listen to these critical niggas like dissin 9th for Fruity Loops instead of the mp. Chumps. Take what works and use it.

  • @dastiks im not sayin tubediggin is pathetic, but it doesn't take much to buy a cheap turn table and some 50cent records and make your own style, even if it is lofi as shit. the real difference between tubediggin and cratediggin is straight up quality, youtube compresses the audio on their videos, and most people post mp3's anyway, resulting in a loss of high and low frequencies which means, your samples sound dull and lack bottom end.

  • 7 people are lost and need directions to the justin beiber concert

  • i use my grandmammies victrola and cool edit 96, very fancy ass highly technical shit....shit cost me one thousand five hunnerd deloreans.

  • Dope music is dope music, no matter what the medium. Yeah, crate digging is more authentic, but it aint necessary calling cats stupid just because they tube dig.

if you're gonna go by that mind set, then that means musicians from the 70s and before can criticize you for picking samples in the first place, and not producing from scratch.

  • tubedigging? thats pathetic.

  • Comment removed

  • well.. i tubedigg for sounds i like and then i try to buy every lp from that artist? wut the fuck is wrong with that? new age and old age will combine anyway. neglecting technology is just dumbass

  • @FreeCharlie420 stop frontin, the ends justify the means

  • haha THESE FUCKER'S lost the point it's all about the WAX SON! DITC!!!!!!!!!!!

  • jesus fuck this is siick

  • Madlib looks just like Shaggy. lol

  • Fuck tubediggin srsly. If you don't have money, just download some music from the internet, it's MUCH better and you can find more gemz. There are many blogs around, check rappamelo, but PLEASE don't tubedig. C'mon 'tubedigga'?..WACK.

  • DITC

  • TUBEDIGGING? That's horrible... Audio quality is just so horrible. DON'T DO THIS, YOUR DEMOS WILL SOUND WORSE THAN SHIT. Go to the fucking Goodwill and pick up some vinyl for 50 cents. Look for instrumental stuff, even if it looks completely lame it'll have something worth sampling. Damn you kids are fucking dumb.

  • crate digging is the originator shit, but tube digging is catching on and im not knocking the crate heads but until I get myself a record player and sampler I'm stuck ripping audio and plugging it into my beat software

  • @Scathe8000 Crate Diggin -> MPC or SP or something like this ;)

  • fuck no.. dont tubediggg..wtf!!! keep it real.. get them dusty vinyls and flipp them in to something amazing,,thats wat hip hop and madlib is all about.

  • I used to tube dig as well. Untill i did a bit of research on audio QUALITY. streamin mp3z (all youtube qual) youll get nothing better than 44.1k AT BEST. many times its even lower than that, unless its a HQ/HD video you samped. That will effect the quality of ya production in the end. MP3= SHIT, CD=acceptable, DVD= 96k, Vinyl LP = Raw sound; BEST. aside from that, support the artists u samp.

  • Yeah guys support the artists with vinyl! can't knock blogs and torrents they are good to use as try-before-you-buy though. It's expensive but the sheeit your gonna wanna sample is cheap and usually at the bottom of a bargain bin anyways

  • tube diggin... crate diggin.... bittorrent diggin.... shit i just dig, i do it all xD hip hop for life

  • instead of "tubedigging" why dont you go to your local record shop and buy an actual vinyl record to support the artist that provided you the sample from which you are going to make money from.to call this an "art" you must be smoking crack rocks.typing in names on youtube or google is not an art.if you cant afford the tools needed then you have to do whats called "get a fucking job and save your money" this generation is a bunch of lazy ass spoil silly brats that doesnt like to put in work.SMFH

  • @jchem Diggin in the Crates is the way of Hip Hop ....

  • lootpack n lord quaz be that real ill...dope bangin shit!

  • The whole Loot Pack LP is fuckin dope...

  • @DCgreenery - one of da realest rap records eva made...

  • HOW MANY KNOW ABOUT CRATE DIGGIN?

  • there is no beating the feeling you get after a fat dig - plus, there's a lot more to it than just finding obscure samples - they got a certain smell to them, they got the old art, there's a way different feeling to queing up a record to where you want to sample it then just doing it on soundforge - but - do what you need to - if I sample, it's off of wax, but I don't judge e-diggers, I just do my own thing and move on -

GREAT TRACK - 805 STAND UP!

  • anyone know whats the best kind of usb turntable or record player? where they sell them?

im tryna get off tubediggin and cd diggin lol

  • @jsk2131 numark pt-01 is a good joint to start out with, a couple pros own one but they're usually used for travel

  • @jsk2131 Technics = worth it

  • Diggaz Unite!

  • haha talkin about jackin records

  • YEAH - JUST LIKE ME I DID DIZ SINCE 4 YEARS

  • Man the quality on this is shit.

  • Diggin in these tubes for a fat remix.

  • hes so stylish with his afro and his type of beats

    really nice dude...goooooo madlib

  • CRATE DIGGIN IS A FUCKIN DISEASE. I have to look the other way when i walk by a record store. If i go in and theres any good ish ill fuckin spend all my money like a CRACK HEAD.

  • @SOLDGREEN i caught that disease too. Madlib is contagious as a muthafucka

  • wendy rene sample

  • ive got an MPC and i dig in the crates but when i started out over a year ago i used fruity loops and did some "tube diggin" other ppls libraries however i could find some nice shit, so i dont disrespect it cuz hip hops hip hop so keep makin loops all you broke ass beatmakers!!

personally, havin hardware n records i like a lot better now i reccomend it to all saving up, its worth it makes it feel more organic and expressive, but do ur thing ppl JUST:

    MAKE SURE ITS DOPE

    and BE ORIGINAL!!!!

  • I just go through my old 90s hip hop cds and vocal sample, nothing other. im sampling up to date i guess.

  • a hieroglyphics lp on the wall that's what it all about baby

  • Damn, can't see why Madlib didn't like his voice when we rapped. I think it sounds pretty bad ass.

  • Google-diggin.

  • Re-up in better quality please!

  • Yeah crate digging is a journey each time! The Loot Pack is real Hip hop!

  • jack dem niggaz records lol!

  • tube diggin, beat hunting...its all good

  • pedazoo de beat po lokooo!!!

  • And Ill be posting my beat tapes online this year so be on the lookout!!

  • How many know 'bout Tube Dggin

What is Tube Diggin mean to me ?

One day, someone will show his tubediggin production, belive me :)

  • i thought i was the only one who did that.....hahah i didnt know about TUBE DIGGIN hahah YES

  • also gotta afford for "main ingredient" - vinyls ;p

im also digital kind of producer but as soon as i get mpc ill be striclty vinyl "hardware" producer and i'll feel that productions i made are more official.. its also good feeling owning a real vinyl, or just original copy of the record that u used.

  • i tube dig

  • I net dig

  • yeahhh tubedigger

  • @LordFerrand

Commonly used for low budget producers that cannot afford 50-100 dollar production hardware samplers drum machines etc. and dollarbin records.

  • @LordFerrand lol im always tube diggin

  • @LordFerrand But nothing beats vinyl. Not to mention there's only so many songs on the net, and you're always depending on someone else to share a song with you. When you go to the store, pick a record out, take it home, come back to it and flip it, I dont know...its a lot more satisfying than sitting around following links. Im on that low-budget tip too, just drop a couple bills on a usb turntable and quit being such a whiny little fag.

  • @LordFerrand yeah word bro crate diggin, tube diggin its all the same to me i love them crackly samples that sound like shit and i ripped it of you tube for free

  • @LordFerrand

You talk about like youre proud of it.. keep it on the low homie cause it aint somethin to be proud of, aint no work in it.

  • @LordFerrand When youre tubediggin, the sound of your sample will be mp3. Its means that the samples misses some frequenties when you are EQ´ing.

  • @LordFerrand

Dont fuck with your shit, don't know what that means collecting records and do a vinyl collection and work with your crates. Tube diggin is the most stupid thing I've heard.

  • @LordFerrand Trying to fit the description while to be compared. Better of calling it Tube crawling, so we can seperate the difference between the workways. Fact remains it definitly not the same but the result may be cool.

  • @LordFerrand Comon, you don´t need 1.5k bucks to produce some cool Hip Hop stuff. What you need is only one turntable (ebay 20$), a few records (50 cents each) and some freeware. You don´t need an MPC-60 or SP1200, you don´t need this uber dope DAW everybody else is using. The only thing you need is passion. And endurance. Heck, you could even produce some dope shit only using a turntable and an analog tapedeck. Rec ´n´ Pause like back in the days. That has been done numerous times before.

  • @LordFerrand Hells to yeah!

  • @lenneavy for real haha, this is how much the technology has changed man.

  • it means alot to me sun..word up! lol

  • cratediggin is more exciting... it gets you out and about and you never know what youll find

But ive done my share of "tubediggin" lol..

  • @lenneavy you are so wack that don't even try to download the mp3 :O

  • @lenneavy niiice lol.

  • @lenneavy lol!! hahaahah i feel you dude....

i'm tubediggin already all the time

    thas wassup feel me!?

  • @lenneavy dont trip duke....

but true ...keep it on ah low ...

it aint for everybody ,it dont mean you stop

physically crate diggin its about VINYL all day everyday!

    but limited minds STAY BEHIND

its a new level for forward minded thinkers to explore

yah feel me ? fuck 'em....

  • @stealthyBLK you serious? It doesnt take a lot to get on a computer and take music from the net. It takes a real hustla to go out to swap meets, flea markets, shops, WHEREVER in order to find some authentic shit... on top of that, you meet some pretty awesome people who share common interests. I'm young dude, but I met a cat who use to dig with Pete Rock back in the day.. we good friends now.. Trust me.. if you wanna keep it real and adventurous, stick to vinyl. Tube diggin is for lazy days

  • @lenneavy madlib will never use anything besides wax. Isn't that the point of this song? Correct me if I'm wrong please

  • @kurtbarker66 false

  • @lenneavy Check my tube dug tracks on my page homie (formerly Lord Ferrand)

The day you've been waiting for :)

  • madlib is my fucking hero
