You are missing some key elements in your doctrine of salvation. The Bible says "repent and be baptized, every one of you; in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
We need, not just to obey a part of the gospel, but all of it: The death (repentance), the burial (baptism), and the resurrection (the gift of the Holy Ghost).
This video's pretty funny.. It's like if someone who knew nothing about religion or evolution tried to sum up the argument between the two.. I commend the uploader for delving so deep into the mind of an ignoramus and presenting us with this cartoonish interpretation of a serious philosophical discussion.
Everything is in the mind. But theres to the Universe. Convine Universe (real life) with your mind. Be real. Be a proud atheist, a proud stoner, a proud nudist. Bad nor Good. Neither. Just life. You'll never get what I just said.
Zeus is gonna be pissed off when he finds out you've been worshipping another god your whole life. Does that concern you? (you answer: "Yes"). Are you a good person for rejecting Zeus? (you answer: "No. I'm a bad person"). You need to accept Zeus into your life.
Are you good: Well, "good" s rather subjective, but by the standards of my society, yes I am. By the standards of others, not so much.
Have you lied/stolen: Yes, but can you say that you haven't? No one old enough to watch (Or, indeed, make) this video hasn't lied or stolen.
Heaven/hell/Jesus stuff: The term "I couldn't care less" applies.
Oh and there's a term for making an argument against a position someone doesn't hold (E.g. all atheists being educated douches). It's the strawman fallacy.
The key mistake this video makes is that it asserts Christianity is the one true religion. Any idiot knows that Odin is the one true God, ergo, the rest of the message is meaningless.
Your god put the iceberg in the path of the Titanic. What a great guy he must be.
And without God in the minds of the person commiting this task, they are not breaking Gods law. They are breaking societies law on thievery which existed before "God's" law in the bible, and breaking they're own reservations with the lie, being deceitful towards another is a key to having someone be deceitful to you, which is why people who care about people don't lie excessively or feel that they even need to.I choose neither because there's no proof of heaven, or even any biblical proof of Hell.
1. Yes I'm a good person, I treat others right without any hope for retribution in an afterlife. I know what I do here on this Earth matters more than any God I might face afterwards.
2. Yes I've told a lie before, malicious and harmless lies, in a variety of different circumstances. It doesn't necessarily contribute to character or tell how good a person is.
3. In the simplest form with no context, Liar. Even you would ask what the liar lied about.
The God as a crutch snippet sums up the relationship between theists and atheists nicely,as theists do usually use God as a crutch for their own insecurities and poorly arrived at conclusions and "Leaning on him" just makes it sound pathetic. No one rewards gullibility except your fellow flock, look to the koran with an open mind and tell me how much of the same crap you find that was in the bible. They're dumb because it never existed along with a world wide flood, and theirs evidence to prove it.
@b33p3rz - Preach on brotha!! How about that Adam and Eve story, where YHWH bans his human creations from knowledge. Why would an omnipotent "god" be threatened by that?
The genesis account is an aesops fable. It's saying that it takes knowledge to seperate ourselves from a "god", but that lack of knowledge will keep the ignorant forever submissive to their "god". Very true. Very true indeed.
The college and the church serve almost the same effect, with the college having one more feature. Inside the college is intelligent debate with people of different faiths, ideas what will argue their side and so on, in the church are people with the same conclusion as you, reviewing "evidence" and cherry picking the happy bible quotes out to convert the childrenz. Besides, the college textbook is better than the bible..
Darwin is indeed dead, and so is your Jesus figure, if he ever existed, considering the just under 100 historians that lived in and around his supposed time of birth, in that area of the world, not one of which documented a man that traveled about preforming miracles with his disciples. Evolutionists are educated on Evolution, I've met even a fair share of atheists who don't take the title on intelligently at all.
Christmas is actually a pagan tradition from 3 kings delivering presents to the Son (Sun) down to decorating the tree, its the winter solstice,or as celebrated before the Gnostic sect of Christianity took hold in Rome,Sol invictus, meaning victory to have lived another year.Addition to the In man we trust,in Fellow man we trust.Thats how morals come about, not holy scripture,we treat each other in accordance with how we want to be treated. There may be no good/evil,but there is right and wrong.
Faith/trust was correct on the theist side, but most atheists don't "trust" darwins theory, or read just his Origin of species to understand evolution. Evolution is a scientific theory that is constantly developing just like germ theory of disease and atomic theory. Also many atheists wouldn't say no to the cross, seeing as it represents astrological entities before it was used as a torture device for Jesus (thousands other before him who also magically "resurrected").
This is the worst defense of Christianity ever. It proves nothing except that you can call people you do not agree with stupid. It never explains to me what makes the Bible more trustworthy than scientifically inquiry, which at least is allowed scrutiny in its own framework. It also falls on the old argument of saying that the Bible is true because the Bible says it's true. At least scientists look for real answers instead of using made up answers from a book written 2000 years ago.
Seriously, this gives young brainwashers the wrong impression. If I told you that you don't have to be concerned with hell because it's a metaphor for karma. And you ask me how I know that. And I tell you that there are many shades of white and black mixed together, most of them are called grey. You aren't going to look at me and say I'm right because the color wheel proves it, are you? Nice try, but we aren't ignorant. We just do more research into the subject.
Oh, okay. I see why you are mad at God. Because he does not approve of homosexuality. I knew there was a reason.
You judge God. You are smarter than God. If He exists, you Tealya are smarter than He. Wow! Arrogance is a virtue to you. I wonder if you have this much outrage for the millions of people atheists have slaughtered in the past 100 years. No outrage seen.
Yet for God, you become judge, jury, and executioner.
What the hell does homosexuality have to do with anything I just said?
Why would I be angry at something that doesn't exist? That would of a waste of time and energy.
Name 3 major atheists that have slaughtered millions of people. Stalin is the only one I can think of. Remember, Hitler was a christian, not an atheist. Name 3 atheist crusades that slaughtered thousands of people like the christian crusades did.
3) Good/evil/morals are not absolutes and you need not believe in a god to accept the RULES OF SOCIETY. They do change over time, however. It use to be considered shocking and immoral to hold hands with someone of the opposite sex. It use to be punishable by whippings. In some places it still is. If I proposed whipping you for holding someone's hand, people would say that's horrible. We have changed our views of the morality of holding hands, and not because a god said so.
Liar: Irrelevant. Both good and bad people sometimes tell lies. Do you tell 4 year olds that Santa is real? If yes, you're a liar, but not a bad person.
Thief: Nope. I've never taken things from others without permission.
Heaven or hell: God is not real so neither
Jesus: Nice HUMAN with good things to say. Shame so few christians actually live by his teachings and instead try to force their religion down my throat.

If you are an atheist, there is no such thing as good or evil.
How can cells be good or evil, for you are made up of nothing but cells aren't you?
No one is forcing any religion down your throat. Christians, like me, only want to tell of what we believe is true. God does not force you to believe, so why should we?
We only are the messengers. You received the message. End of story.
First off, good and bad has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with society. We make rules so we can function as group. If you are always afraid that your neighbor will kill you, you can't work together. Being a good person means that you do things that help your society without harming others. You don't need to be religious to be good. Statistically, atheists commit fewer crimes. Atheists & agnostics together make up only 0.24% of criminals despite being 8% of the population.
Second, I felt the need to post because, like many theists I have met, your movie asserts that being an atheist somehow makes you a bad person. Somehow, you are a liar and a thief because your an atheist and theists aren't because they are religious. Being religious does not make you good or bad. Very religious people have done very terrible things and non religious people have done very good things.
Third, true, cells are not good or bad. It is why it would be stupid to begrudge bacteria for existing. Even if harmful, they are not evil.
However, SCIENCE shows that we are more than just cells. We, along with many animals, are very complex and are a lot more than just a collection of cells. Good and evil exists because we have a complex brain that is capable of coming up with such concepts and then acting on them.
@fredstime Too bad most American Christians don't see things the way you do. They try to pass legislation based solely on their interpretation of their holy book. They plaster their faith on the currency we all share. They try to force faith into science. They try to post the tenants of their faith in public courtrooms, and deny any other faith equal treatment. If they were content to just create public awareness, and not legislation, then they would get little opposition from us.
@fredstime "If you are an atheist, there is no such thing as good or evil." I'm pretty sure before people even came up of the concept of religion there was good and evil. You don't not have to believe a religion to have a good sense of morality. I know aethiest that do more good than Christians (then you say they are not true Christians). right....
@fredstime "If you are an atheist, there is no such thing as good or evil."
Incorrect, there is nothing that states that atheists cannot believe in this concept. Although as an atheist, I myself do not believe in Good and Evil.
@Tealya I think it is careless to say that there is no God with all certainty since 'evolution' can not hope to answer all the questions of creation and life. I will say there is a creator or a creative force but perhaps not as accurately depicted by the Christians. But the evolutionists who propose a theory that we came from a primordial soup must realize that this is even more ridiculous than the Christians story of 6 day creation.
All religious people I know also lie and steal, making them liars and thieves just like the Atheist in the video. They, however, supposedly know the laws of god and decide to break them anyway.
The Atheist does so without the education in the word of god, and so is as Adam and Eve before eating the fruit of knowledge.
Knowing the laws of God and defying them = satan. Not knowing = Adam.
I would say its much more intelligent to believe something that has been discussed, hypothesized, and tested (even if it is a theory), then to trust in a book written thousands of years ago on stone tablets, im assuming, considering paper wasnt even around then
A love the theist, perfectly represents every creationist. Ignorant of science, trying to scare the atheist and saying 'God loves you :)'
Instead of putting trust Darwin, I would have put trust then a pile of books toppling over and crushing the theist. And then maybe a fossil falling on top.
This really isn't a fair representation of atheism. An atheist isn't concerned about hell, because to them it doesn't exist. I don't know if it's real. YOU don't know if it's real. To KNOW it's real would remove the faith requirement your god so fervently demands. You may BELIEVE but that doesn't make it any more correct than anything else.
By the way, atheists don't dogmatically cling to Darwin like it's scripture. It's stereotypical and erroneous to call atheists "darwinists".
This... "animation" is it's void of typical stereotypes, making any comical value empty. For example, when someone says "god did it" to an atheist, most often they will say "prove it", as a result of the typical epistemology.
The whole thing is based on an assumption of how some christians (I'm assuming you) have, and a very uncommon one at that.

I agree with you; Many atheists are really full of knowledge, full of smarts, and full of brillance. Many atheists are really full of it, but I don't know if any of them are as full as you are.
But you don't see atheists saying you're going to hell. I'm in college. I'm an atheist. I don't go around calling theists stupid. I respect their rights to believe what they want. Who am I to ultimately decide what's right for anyone but myself? I know many atheists who call Christians stupid. I don't think it's right to judge someone based on their beliefs. It's egotistical to go around saying only one belief system is right. That's why I don't preach atheism.
Next time you run into a theist think about this: the gay people who are being denied rights, the children being molested by priests, the people dieing of a.i.d.s. in Africa because catholics can't use condoms, the suicide bombers, the teaching of creationism in schools, the attempts to stop embryonic stem cell research, ect... You may respect that person's rights, but the feeling is not mutual.
@fredstime -In order to continue believing that Jesus Christ died, he'd have to qualify as a RANSOM SACRIFICE. If the biblical scenerio doesn't equate to that, then the Chrsitian story about him is a lie, and Jesus is not the reason you or I are conscious.
I'll explain how Jesus is neither if you respond, but please explain how Jesus died for our sins, but he is still alive? Did Jesus reserect himself while being dead?
The video content was good right up until you used fallacious logic to trick the atheist.
I'm an atheist and I've no problem with whatever religion you practice in the privacy of your own house or church. The issue I have is that fundamentalists tend to lie, confabulate, suppress facts and use fear to get people to conform to thier personal belief system. Fundamentalism seems to be what happens when narcissism is allowed to spiral out of control.
by your logic we are all going to hell no matter what we do, unless we repent, once done that can save anyone let me set up an example: a man murders 50 people but accepts Jesus as his lord and savior, and an atheist who worked to find a cure for cancer is murdered; by your logic the one who accepted Jesus will go to heaven while everyone else burns. Not a very good system.
Christians are free from the law because of Jesus who was the only person who could keep the whole law.
"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day (1 Colossians 2:16)."
You are going to hell because you have rejected God. God will give you what you want, which is eternal seperation from him for all of eternity.
Well that means the unchangeable and eternal God changed his mind. Or does this just mean that there are different rules for different people? In that case it's favoritism, and that doesn't seem to apply to a God with a sense of divine justice.
Anyway, the threat of hell has absolutely no effect on atheists. Not any more than the threat of Hades' underworld from Greek mythology frightens you. You just don't believe in it!
No. God did not change His mind. God fulfilled the Law through Jesus, His "Only" begotten son.
No one keeps the 10 Commandments. And no one can keep the whole of the law, except Jesus. Since He was the only one who could keep it, he was perfect in God's eyes. He was the spotless lamb, who gave his life to reconcile man to God.
wait, is he saying that you learn reading a book written by cattle-sacrificing primitives than you do at college where you can by hundreds of dollars for a single book?
so... what exactly is your point? that just because everyone does wrong (everyone lies, steals etc. at some point) that makes them bad people and this is an argument for God. Please forgive me for seeing right through this appeal to emotion, Have a Nice Day, but for pete's sake do not try to convert other people with fallacious and dishonest arguments
I dunno about that, I find that little kiddie-winks are being taught that they will go to hell if they don't believe in god quite concerning indeed...
Thank to Poe's Law, I can't tell if this is satire or not.
Just curious - are you saying that people who accept Jesus as their savior are incapable of lying and/or stealing? Or are you saying that it's okay to do these things as long as you have faith?
All right, Ray C. I admit, I lied once. My roommate once asked me if I was talking on the phone with a friend and I told her I was when in reality I called the police because she told me she was going to kill herself. She's alive and healthy today because of it. I will NOT repent for that and I will GLADLY suffer eternal damnation if for no other reason than she is alive today. Oh, and I've never stolen anything. I DARE you to call me a liar you jack@ss!
Says a human being who has not been mentally polluted to the point where he is unable to enact his own natural moral compass. The fact that you think a person who has told a single lie without being forgiven deserves to burn forever tells me everything I need to know about your morality--that it is warped beyond comprehension.
Morals? What morals? What gives you the right to determine morals, unless you are only talking about your own personal morals. Since there are billions of people on the planet, each one of us can choose our own morals. We say what is right and what is wrong.
I don't get it. At first you seemed to disagree with me, and now you seem to be agreeing with me. Anyway, it is up to society to come to a general consensus on what is right and wrong. A tool used to determine this is natural human empathy. Almost all humans can agree that murder and rape are wrong without being told, the ones who can't are labled as psychopaths. Moral codes are essential for social creatures to work together and survive.
I wasted 12 seconds of my life reading your dribble.

Whosoever repents, and turns to God will be saved. Though I really did enjoy your being appauled at the thought of Hitler having a chance to be in heaven. So you do know right from wrong.
I find it interesting that the atheist just stops and suddenly accepts that god should send him to hell when in the first thirty seconds he said god wasn't real... but what can you expect from a theist video.
oh, and just to ask you, I once believed in satan, does that make me a satanist? No, because I no longer accept that he is real. Yet by your logic I am a christian, wiccan, satanic, athiest, because at some point I have believed all of those. (the lied-liar arguement)
A person who TELLS a lie is a liar. A person who TOLD a lie WAS a liar. If I stole something as a child, does that make me a thief? No more than I am a child because I was once a child. And being a liar or a thief does not preclude you from being a good person anyway.
And "God's law"? WE made up what "God's law" was supposed to be. And we have since done better.
this is rediculous. telling an athiest hes going to hell is like saying to them theyre going to be run over by a unicorn. its nonsense. the bible also says that lobsters are an abomination! read it!
Why are Nonnies (atheists) so impulsive to defend a "non-belief"? If it's a non-belief, then why are they acting like it's a personal belief? Maybe calling Nonnyism (atheism) a "non-belief" is just sophistry! Maybe their dogma doesn't allow someone to tell the truth about atheism!
Nonnies (atheists) have a lot of catching up to do, but can't because of their dogmatic regard for their religious persuasion. Yes, religious persuasion defended because their non-belief is really a belief.
were not defending atheism were fighting ignorance (if you dont know what that word means it means stupidity) so yay for intelligence and for nonnyism and other made up words!
Lol, he gets to the point of saying the Atheist has broken Gods laws without convincing me or anyone that god actually exists. If god doesn't exist then why would I care about breaking some fairytale laws. (NB. I do care about Legaly sound laws as writen by mankind
HAHAHA now he's got the Athiest saying that the idea of going to hell concerns him. ROFL I'm not concerned that I might go to hell, for two simple reasons. I believe non-existance would be worse so that makes hell better than what i believe awaits me. And secondly I don't believe hell exists so in the same manner that i disregard the threat of dragons and unicorns invading I disregard the threat of going to hell.
You don't have to believe in hell, or death, or anything. It is your own choice.
As for your strawman arguement about unicorns and dragons, it is typical but not surprising that you would use fairy tales to explain why you don't believe in God.
Jesus was and is God. Jesus said more about hell, than anyone else. I think it is wise to find out why he would talk about a place of horror that will never end, especially since he is known as the Prince of Peace
And how is the dragons and unicorns argument a straw man? To a man who believes in X but not Y, the threat of X is potent whereas the threat of Y is completely disregarded (how worried are you about the Muslim hell?). To the man who believes in Y but not X, it will be the other way around. To the man who believes in neither X nor Y, both will seem equally empty. You believe in God, but not unicorns. I believe in neither, and both seem equally fantastical to me. Why should I heed your god more?
i have asked this every time i have come across this "position", and i will do so once more in the hopes of finally getting an honest answer, so here goes:
you don't believe in dragons, or unicorns, good for you. you believe in god, erm, ok.
what non-scripture based evidence for god can you present? can you SHOW me how you came to the conclusion of the existence of your deity without resorting to a single passage or book of the bible, or using the meme "because the bible tells me so" ?
It just proves humans aren't perfect. It took many times over to put the first man on the moon.. Does it make us stupid that we failed the first attempts?
this video shows no proof of God, it just scares you into what if there was a God. This is as logical as saying what if the Flying Spaghetti Monster is real, we should make him happy too. What about we take every religion seriously not just Christianity.
it was good until the christian said, "does that concern you?"
Atheist would have answered 'No, because a supernatural being that watches you all the time and will reward you if you are good and punish you if you are bad is a fairytale meant to keep children in line. Like Santa.'
This was entertaining until you started preaching... Its a good thing your atheist character was a thief and a liar, otherwise your christian fella would've been clutching at straws.
by the cannon, the only way to get saved is to repent through jesus christ. So every man that lived any time BC headed right down to hell. This led to theological theory, that if you havent the chance to hear lords world, you will have somehow other rules. But in the light of this theory evangelization is just a spread of a deadly game. Because by meeting someone evangelizing, he brings you more danger to get to hell. Of course here statistics of How many went to hell/were saved would be nice :)
you are basically pascal wagering and therefore you are wrong by common sense. Socrates went to hell, because there was no bible at his times. If you want special treatment over this particular briliant human being, you are dumb. If there were a god, he wouldnt be a jealous one. But there still isnt. And your logic is completely false elsewhere too.
You misunderstand my point. I was stating that by using the logic in the video, doing one good deed makes you a good person, which obviously is nonsense. As much nonsense as, say, saying that telling one lie makes you a liar, and stealing one item makes you a thief.
Telling thge judge about your good deeds doesn't usually help very much; however in lieu of jail for stealing something worse less than $1000 a judge can grant you the ability to do good deeds instead. It's called community service.
If you were living in a third world country, poor, starving and near death because of hunger, then only an evil god would punish you for your will to live, by stealing some food.
If you lived in Europe during WW2 and you were hiding Jews in your house and the Gestapo knocked on the door, would you not lie to save lives? It would be the only right thing to do, but not in the eyes of God.
Your statement would be true if God and man were equal, but they are not. Aaaahhh, that should be common sense, yet I know these days common sense is not common.
You can judge God, and call him whatever you want. You have a free-will, and that is fine. But one day God will judge you, and send you to where you will spend eternity.
I know you will scoff at this, but I bet you that one day in the future your smirks and sarcasm will stop.
So you actually believe that morality is NOT absolute. Morality is subjective. For humans it's set, but for God, well, that's something else entirely.
God picks his own morality.
Ha! Sorry, my friend, but morality is subjective to the situation, but not subjective to the being. What's moral for me is moral for you, and for every other being out there with the intellect to consider morality.
I call your God nothing. And I will until the day I die. Then I'll be nothing.
Give me a reason to think that a higher power exists. Then show me that it must be a god. Then prove that it's YOUR god. Prove, then, that your god is cruel, for, to have committed many of the acts that are attributed to him, he would have to be more cruel, more evil, than you claim your Satan is.
God and man are not equal, you're right. Man has the upper hand, simply by way of existing.
True enough, if there is a god he would not be our equal. How does that affect morality? Is this basically a "do what I say, not what I do" proposition? If so, how is God good?
Its this kind of stuff that gives hope in the secular movement here in the states. If that is really the Christians best arguement, then eventually, a critical mass of the population will reject this non sense. What i have FAITH in, is the capacity of the human brain to grow to a point where, finally, this insulting and just plain stupid position will be eradicated!!
I don't think telling one lie makes one a liar. Its consistent lying for your own ends that makes one a liar. Have I ever told a lie? Perhaps, but one (or even several) untruth doesn't tar my character irrecoverably. Furthermore, being "economical with the truth" might have positive effects and not be entirely a bad thing. There's the old example of hiding Jews in your attic in 1945 Germany - the Gestapo ask if you're hiding Jews, what are ya gonna do, "Yes, they're upstairs, first on the left"?
I like it, except Darwin isn't an opposition to the Bible, it's one of MILLIONS of things which oppose the Bible (include on this list, the Bible, oddly). And Happy Holidays was NOT invented for atheists, atheists are despised in this country, it was created primarily for Jews, and later other RELIGIOUS minorities - "holiday" is religious, holy day.
But Im not concerned about going to hell, because it isnt real... But if it is real, GOD SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT ME
Also going to heaven or hell has nothing to do with whether you are a good person according the bible.
"we are saved by grace through faith, so that no man can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). "
Furthermore I think the first thing you should be asking yourself is whether you agree with a god that would supposedly , by your twisted understanding of the bible, send people to burn for eternity in a lake of fire based on telling a single lie.
This video is utter trash. The narration asks "have you ever lied?" the stick man says "yes", narration: "if you lie you are a - ?"
and the atheist says : human.
Everyone is a liar, doesn't matter what your religion (or lack thereof) is. This video has some very serious flaws in it. Everyone is a thief at some point. I will not let some book that was written by ancient men 2k years ago run my life.
No, workers of no particular intelligence (some of them may have been bright, but I doubt the people who actually built the titanic had any say in the design of the ship) BUILT the Titanic. I'm sure there was intelligence behind the design of the Titanic. Also, the people who built the titanic were not responsible for whoever crashed said boat into an iceberg.
How many Christians have told lies? How many Christians have stolen things? Atheists are not stupid people as you want to portray in this video. Many of the smartest and best people the world has ever known are/were atheists.
I rather liked the style and presentation and even though I disagree with the case this video was making I thought it was cute. Good music, too! But I was very unhappy to find the offensive Ray Comfort argument at the end of this. Just for THAT I cannot give this more than two stars.
There's about as much objectiveness in this as a superhero movie. Beliefs are great dont get me wrong, but pushing them onto others is wrong.. this goes both ways, mind you.
@elgandos2 And that ancient book couldn't possibly contain any wisdom, could it? Have you ever read or studied the Bible?

You are missing some key elements in your doctrine of salvation. The Bible says "repent and be baptized, every one of you; in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost." Acts 2:38
We need, not just to obey a part of the gospel, but all of it: The death (repentance), the burial (baptism), and the resurrection (the gift of the Holy Ghost).

So lying and stealing justify eternal punishment, eternal pain, eternal sorrow, and Christians believe God is Good? God is a jerk.

There may be no good/evil,but there is right and wrong.
b33p3rz 3 months ago

As an atheist, I shall answer your questions:
Good: Yes.

End of story.
fredstime 2 years ago
First off, good and bad has nothing to do with religion. It has everything to do with society. We make rules so we can function as group. If you are always afraid that your neighbor will kill you, you can't work together. Being a good person means that you do things that help your society without harming others. You don't need to be religious to be good. Statistically, atheists commit fewer crimes. Atheists & agnostics together make up only 0.24% of criminals despite being 8% of the population.
Tealya 2 years ago
Second, I felt the need to post because, like many theists I have met, your movie asserts that being an atheist somehow makes you a bad person. Somehow, you are a liar and a thief because your an atheist and theists aren't because they are religious. Being religious does not make you good or bad. Very religious people have done very terrible things and non religious people have done very good things.
Tealya 2 years ago

Atheists = Adam, so closer to god than theists.
Theists = Satan (usually).

madelineschannel 2 years ago 3
This really isn't a fair representation of atheism. An atheist isn't concerned about hell, because to them it doesn't exist. I don't know if it's real. YOU don't know if it's real. To KNOW it's real would remove the faith requirement your god so fervently demands. You may BELIEVE but that doesn't make it any more correct than anything else.
By the way, atheists don't dogmatically cling to Darwin like it's scripture. It's stereotypical and erroneous to call atheists "darwinists".
aPenguin09 2 years ago

It is unfortunate that you equate the validity of faith answers and science answers.
Science answers questions with theories that are compatible with the observations of the real world.
Faith, by its very nature, requires no justification, verification, support, or objectivity.
Faith and science are NOT on equal footing.

I'm an atheist and I've no problem with whatever religion you practice in the privacy of your own house or church. Hi. No your father will not go to hell for working on the sabbath. Also, the Bible does not tell you to kill your father.
God will not send you to hell; you will send yourself to hell: and gladely from what I have read.
fredstime 2 years ago
God seems to disagree with you. At least he says so according to Exodus, Chapter 30, verse 15 (King James).
Six days may work be done; but
in the seventh is the sabbath of rest,
holy to the LORD: whosoever doeth
any work in the sabbath day, he shall
surely be put to death.
How can you say this doesn't apply? God doesn't change his mind. He is eternal!
It is totally God who sends me to Hell! He does it by making the Bible a poor excuse for a divine scriptures and by expecting me to believe it.
thepoet82 2 years ago
Christians are free from the law because of Jesus who was the only person who could keep the whole law.
"Therefore do not let anyone judge you by what you eat or drink, or with regard to a religious festival, a New Moon celebration or a Sabbath day (1 Colossians 2:16)."
You are going to hell because you have rejected God. God will give you what you want, which is eternal seperation from him for all of eternity.
fredstime 2 years ago
Well that means the unchangeable and eternal God changed his mind. Or does this just mean that there are different rules for different people? In that case it's favoritism, and that doesn't seem to apply to a God with a sense of divine justice.
Anyway, the threat of hell has absolutely no effect on atheists. Not any more than the threat of Hades' underworld from Greek mythology frightens you. You just don't believe in it!
thepoet82 2 years ago

I don't get it. At first you seemed to disagree with me, and now you seem to be agreeing with me. Anyway, it is up to society to come to a general consensus on what is right and wrong.

Good Luck :-)
fredstime 2 years ago
"I think it is wise to find out why he would talk about a place of horror that will never end,"
Because he is not malicious? How do you reconcile that with a loving god? Why can't those who do not end up in heaven simply... cease to exist?
And why must all decisions be made in this life? Why is it somehow "too late" after death?
Gilmaris 2 years ago
And how is the dragons and unicorns argument a straw man? To a man who believes in X but not Y, the threat of X is potent whereas the threat of Y is completely disregarded (how worried are you about the Muslim hell?). To the man who believes in Y but not X, it will be the other way around. To the man who believes in neither X nor Y, both will seem equally empty. You believe in God, but not unicorns. I believe in neither, and both seem equally fantastical to me. Why should I heed your god more?

i have asked this every time i have come across this "position", and i will do so once more in the hopes of finally getting an honest answer, so here goes:

it was good until the christian said, "does that concern you?"
Atheist would have answered 'No, because a supernatural being that watches you all the time and will reward you if you are good and punish you if you are bad is a fairytale meant to keep children in line. Like Santa.'

Horrible nonsense straight from Ray Comfort's mouth. 1 star

First, I would think that God would be smarter than Socrates as far as intellect goes, but that is my opinion.
Next, we do not know for a fact that Socrates went to hell.
Last, why are you concerned about Socrates of probablility? If you don't get right with God you are headed to an eternal hell.

If telling one lie makes you a liar, and stealing one item makes you a thief, then by that same logic, doing one good deed makes you a ________?
OckamsLaser 2 years ago 2
OckamLaser
Liars and thieves do good deeds as times. Look at politicians in Washington. They lie and steal, yet at times they do good deeds.
If you are ever caught stealing something and the judge tries to sentence you, tell him about your good deeds.
fredstime 2 years ago
You misunderstand my point. I was stating that by using the logic in the video, doing one good deed makes you a good person, which obviously is nonsense. As much nonsense as, say, saying that telling one lie makes you a liar, and stealing one item makes you a thief.
OckamsLaser 2 years ago
Telling thge judge about your good deeds doesn't usually help very much; however in lieu of jail for stealing something worse less than $1000 a judge can grant you the ability to do good deeds instead. It's called community service.
kezamel 2 years ago
I never understood the whole guilt trip-thing.

Man: Have you ever... Killed someone?
God: Yes.
Man: That makes you a...?
God: Human.
Man: No. A murderer. Are you good?
God: No.
Get the point? Want to run your ever so flawed argument by us again? Or did you want to try for one that might actually hold some water?

Your statement would be true if God and man were equal, but they are not. Aaaahhh, that should be common sense, yet I know these days common sense is not common.
You can judge God, and call him whatever you want. You have a free-will, and that is fine. But one day God will judge you, and send you to where you will spend eternity.
I know you will scoff at this, but I bet you that one day in the future your smirks and sarcasm will stop.
fredstime 2 years ago
so why should i believe these claims that you make?
johnstall5350 2 years ago
So you actually believe that morality is NOT absolute. Morality is subjective. For humans it's set, but for God, well, that's something else entirely.
God picks his own morality.
Ha! Sorry, my friend, but morality is subjective to the situation, but not subjective to the being. What's moral for me is moral for you, and for every other being out there with the intellect to consider morality.
I call your God nothing. And I will until the day I die. Then I'll be nothing.
jmthetank 2 years ago
Give me a reason to think that a higher power exists. Then show me that it must be a god. Then prove that it's YOUR god. Prove, then, that your god is cruel, for, to have committed many of the acts that are attributed to him, he would have to be more cruel, more evil, than you claim your Satan is.
God and man are not equal, you're right. Man has the upper hand, simply by way of existing.
jmthetank 2 years ago 2

There's the old example of hiding Jews in your attic in 1945 Germany - the Gestapo ask if you're hiding Jews, what are ya gonna do, "Yes, they're upstairs, first on the left"?
paulbottomley42 2 years ago
I like it, except Darwin isn't an opposition to the Bible, it's one of MILLIONS of things which oppose the Bible (include on this list, the Bible, oddly). And Happy Holidays was NOT invented for atheists, atheists are despised in this country, it was created primarily for Jews, and later other RELIGIOUS minorities - "holiday" is religious, holy day.
But Im not concerned about going to hell, because it isnt real... But if it is real, GOD SHOULD BE WORRIED ABOUT ME

Why would an Atheist care if he broke gods laws?
Also going to heaven or hell has nothing to do with whether you are a good person according the bible.
"we are saved by grace through faith, so that no man can boast (Ephesians 2:8-9). "
Furthermore I think the first thing you should be asking yourself is whether you agree with a god that would supposedly , by your twisted understanding of the bible, send people to burn for eternity in a lake of fire based on telling a single lie.

Do you believe in the Word of God?
Is there a real place called hell in your opinion?
I'm waiting... this should be good (lol)

No, but I have read the book.
Define Hell.
If you mean a place where people are tortured for all eternity after they die then no.

You are correct when you say "I will not," for by your own free will you will not.
Well said, and very Biblical.

But wait! There were christians building that too!?
If only god blesssed it! It would've been amazing. ; )

Atheists are not afraid of Hell because we don't believe in it.
vixeyv 2 years ago 5
"Dumb people believe in Noah's Ark," yes.
"Smart people built the Titanic."

I have told lies and I have stolen things. I am no better than any other living human being.
I did not call atheists stupid. If anything I call them lost and in need of salvation which is found in Jesus Christ and Him alone.

I thank you for clearing that up. I hope that you will have a great weekend. I hate confusion because it is to confusing.
