I think Harvey was a socially awkward guy that one day thought that snorting cocaine would be good for his health, and he ended up cracking his head in the wall
this specific song sounds kinda meshuggenah *djent metal* if u know what i mean, chimp spanner is a great project, thank you metal hammer for letting me find this.
@kingcahoj Stop scrutinizing Sub Genres like some self-absorbed know-it-all....I'm fucking 21 years old, and even I'm old enough to understand that it doesn't necessarily matter WHAT it is, if it's good, and involves talent, I'M GONNA FUCKING SHUT UP, LISTEN, AND ENJOY IT.
Paul realy knows how to use EQ properly, I hate when people ignore their bass frequencies, I personally find it harder to listen to something that has had the bass sucked out of it and replaced with a horrible trebly mess...
@IAMinDreams Hehe, well, I meant sonical aspect as opposed to a musical aspect. Sonical meaning the actual audio spectrum balance, the mix of the instruments, level of compression, stereo feel of each instrument, etc etc. Basically everything that doesn't have to do with the actual musical composition or arrangement of the song. :)
@Airlight i really only look at music in a musical way lol, every note matters, its funny that he doesn't know much about music theory and yet it still makes alot of sense in a musical context.
@IAMinDreams Hehe, I am more of a audio tech person myself, I can compose, but I generally loose interest quickly. Put me infront of a mixing desk and lots of audio channels though and I'll lose track of time very quickly. Which kind of sucks when a band I like might release something that isn't up to "my standards", as it were. I'd give alot of money to get hold of multitracks of some records so that I could "fix" them, in my opinion obviously. :)
Toontrack have single handedly made one man bands like this more prevalent, thanks to their incredible drum software. I'll be picking this up as soon as possible. Amazing work. Covers all the bases for me - prog, heavy, amazing leads, tasteful.
this album blew me away. i bought it and i would have payed a hundred dollars for it thats how good it is. its everything i wanted, and if paul reads this.... please keep it up your amazing!
I just pre-ordered this album. So pumped! I've been working on promoting on facebook for this guy. Not cause I know him or cause I get paid but because good music deserves to be heard. I encourage anyone else who thinks so to do the same. The music industry is changing and it's really up to people that support the musicians to make sure they succeed. Unless all you want to hear is another Britney Spears record.
@kimthebutcher absolutely. If the music spoke to me and the musicianship was good I would for sure. Being a musician and recording artist myself I know it takes fans to get you going.
@skater15153 - Great news my friend! Could you do me the honour of checking my profile here on youtube (two examples of my work currently to be released independantly)? My project name is ONAN :)
I can also be found on Myspace/Reverbnation under the name "Tortoise Cult" (my previous project, both solo and with a vocalist).
Thanks so much for your response - it is people like yourself who keep music real and impassioned - thank you!
@skater15153 Yea I've been doing the same thing for bands like Chimp Spanner. I've also helped get Animals as Leaders, Masterplan, Periphery, and more of bands like these. Like you, I don't get paid, I just love hearing good music and getting it out to people. It just sucks the majority of people will stick with whats "safe"
@skater15153 wait....what is the music industry changing into? Are the underground and independent labels becoming more common, or are there more "radio garbage" music industries being created?
@xxxslayerxxx666 well no one really knows right now that's the thing. The conventional model of making records isn't making anyone money. It's big tours and merch sales that are making artists money now. No one really makes bank on music sales anymore. That's why people like Jayz and lady gaga have 360 deals with their labels.
could do with some sick vocals... I just imagine meshuggah like vocals going perfect with this
