I'm planning on buying this camera, so can anyone tell me, what resolution the pictures are in? And to the uploader: How much memory does it take just for this 1.40 min long record?
the camera itself is pretty decent. its no point and shoot thats for sure. it takes stills and video decently well though. you can't beat the zoom-ability though!
I never record for long periods of time. I was running a 16Gb card in the cam with no problems. I didn't test to see what the max file length was though. My guess is that there is some finite length, based on the file size. MBs.
See above... It seems that the "US Spec" camera does NOT allow zooming once you have started recording a video. Some non-US spec cameras may have this feature.
HAHA,Its an SUV w/ a 5.0 that ford put in EVERYTHING. It has bolt ons with some exh work, personally, its a bit droney, but I guess you take that same sound put it in a sporty car it would be fine, but towing something for 400 miles with that sound behind you, and it can get annoying.
Mine will not zoom after you have started to record. But if you pick your zoom point prior to taking video, that works. So you can zoom in, THEN start recording. You just can't change the zoom length once you have started to record.
I have heard that NON-US versions are able to alter the zoom once you have started recording.
I have only looked a little at options to convert. I tried MP4Cam2AVI it seems to work just fine. Not sure if its the best, or if there are better. I have not editted much yet. But when I do, I'll use this one until I can find something better.
I have the sx200 IS, and i've uploaded videos to youtube already, but today when I was going to upload another one, this one needed to be edited (chopped up / added music / effects) windows movie maker didn't want to load it.. then I noticed its videos are shot in .MOV which only like 3% of the world uses... apple.
so i've been hunting all over trying to find converters. and i've tried 3, and all 3 have failed me.
have you tried to convert a video to avi yet? if so what program?
Nice quality in HD....is looked a little jerky though. Does the original video look that way or is it just my playback? Also, how is the audio and still photo quality with that camera? thanks :)
its your computer. the playback is smooth for me. the audio, its "ok" not the best. but its not horrific either.
the camera. in GOOD light, its great. I suspect that its better tan most P&S cameras, but it isn't nearly even as good as my original digital rebel. I not have a 40D w/ L lenses, and its nothing like that, but I wasn't expecting that. it can shoot in low light, but it will be grainy.
I have a small question about this camera, if you could answer. Does optical zoom work while capturing video? Thanks in advance

Nice video, but the other thing is that you used your turn signal. Thumps up for that. That is a nice pace.

The US Spec SX200 does NOT allow you zoom while filming. You can zoom prior to hitting record.

wind buffeting in the car. trying to figure out something for the wind noise canceling. maybe a cotton ball over the mic. I still need to test that.

You can use optical zoom while filming, you just have to zoom in before pressing the record button.
