Keep your day job. You crashed a 4 wheel drive car for no reason I could discern? Your review was (no offense) garbage, plain and simple. Then to add insult to injury you don't even carry out the Mentos trick correctly, you would need to use Diet Coke there is a chemical in Diet Coke that causes that eruption.
Here's the best way. First... diet coke. Empty out about 8 ounces. Needle and thread the entire pack together. Hang em inside the bottle and close the cap tight. Give it a toss and watch out. :) by the way, I like the brutish-ness of the last gen evo. This ones a tad softer looking. But I like it. And like the no-spoiler. Maybe that's the 36 in me talking. Haha
It makes no sense that you praise The Evo MR, SST and paddle shifters in this video and totally rag on them in the Ralliart video. Or that you praise the turbo in the MR but rag on it's smaller, less laggy single scroll unit in the Ralliart.
@ergometrics Different reviewers, different cars. Both reviews are accurate from our perspective. The ralliart is a "racy street car" and the Evo is a "streetable race car." Fwiw, the SST is tuned differently and has more settings in the Evo than in the Ralliart.
@drivingsports Believe me, I know. I own a Ralliart and have driven them both. Finally deciding on the Ralliart with Recaro Package. The Ralliart doesn't have AYC, S-Sport mode or launch control but retains all other modes and functionality. They also both have the same weaknesses. The overall cars differ, but the engines is identical, and the tranny is identical in hardware but slightly different in software. I just don't think that warrants the vast difference in what was said in contrast.
@drivingsports The only difference is the "super sport mode" on the EVO X. Otherwise they are pretty much the same transmission. You guys are really idiots. It pains me to know you guys have your own "car show".
I drove one and while it was a great sports car, it was horrible at everything else. It has great sport, but the ride was too uncomfortable and noisy. I don't know how anyone would be able to tolerate driving one as a daily driver. The recaro's are too narrow as well. I did like the DSG tranny though.
it seems like every other video features the Evo, why haven't you guys done other tests? Its been a few months now since you've done test, not counting the pilot.
I don't believe you mentioned the price range for this car. It has class and speed at a reasonable price for it's performance, I would imagine but how much would you have to put out and is it worth the money? Yes, I could do a Google search but it would have been nice to mention. I am going to go out on a limb and say, this car has been modified as well. I say this because of the Recaro seats (sexy BTW)... Also, fun fact: putting Mentos and closing bottle creates an awesome explosion, unsafe tho
@drivingsports That's a pretty fair price. The Evo in general is also known to be a great all around car. I would not mind owning a car like this. Wonder when these will be available... Better start saving up now. I've been looking around for a great quality car that gets it done and then some...
Fair enough,,, but I was unsure if you're fully aware of the difference between the two designs in absolute terms, after witnessing the full length version of this video where you "cooked" the Evo X MR Touring's TC- SST in an incorrect attempt at using the in-built launch control function?
The Getrag 6DCT470 Twin Clutch SST in the Evo X MR is nothing like the robotized Single Clutch unit in the Lamborghini or the Audi R8 at this point in time!
About the only thing they have in common is that they are both actuated by a TCU (Transmission Control Unit).
@grinnereid they both mimic manual transmissions, use paddles and shift faster than you can shift a stick. in that sense they are "similar to" though not, "same as."
the newer evo is a lancer with a transfer case and a supped up computer. while yes it can be driven fast and handles well, it does nothing for the driver by way of improving skill. the electronic nannies kick in and save the day most of the time anyone reaches the limit. thus holding the driver back. older evo's were great. i can see why they are going to kill the evo off. all in all i would rather have a Wrx or Sti or, hell a Mazda speed 3. than this nanny on wheels.
@MrAznPride501 Wondering out loud...Why would you own two of, what are basically the same, cars? FWD, sporty hatchback 4-banger? I owned the RSX-S and liked it a lot, btw.
@drivingsports and... you left the bottle way too long. so the fizz was wasted thus the loss of lots of power! cheers! great vid and great cars! Next episode please!
tape the mentos to the bottom of the lid with scotch tape, then put the lid on. shake it. the proceed to throw. the boom and rocketing away = the evo
