Renew my reaction, love this song, love Sparks, my backname in Dutch is Spark, coincidence?
Rediscovered them after at least 25 years and what happened? Not only they were not dead, the best was yet to come, this song and My baby taking me home, brilliant, touching, feel like a groupie!
piano part at 1:59 reminds me of, what.... something by Schumann, it's the chord progression and the way Ron is playing it. This whole track has a distinctly classical feel to it.
This song never fails to make me feel better and laugh no matter what mood I'm in and no matter how many times I've heard it! Perfected entertainment!
oh HEAVEN! I didn't know they still make music (don't beat me up please...) ...so i'm just in SPARKS heaven right now! They are STILL as good as ever! Pure BLISS!!
I posted a video responce of our song 'Just a Taste' because the sound is VERY similar. Thank you god for something rare as this! LOVE this song! 5 stars atleast! Sparks forever!
Nobody sounds like the Scissor Sisters - it's they that sound like other bands, like Sparks.. Do your music history before you leave stupid comments GRANTZX and JUSTEJUST
It's unbelieveable how this band has endured through the years. Sure it's camp, but a lot of people like that as one pster has pointed out. They certainly have the ability to draw a listener in. I've been listening for quite a few years now.
Probably because they are charismatic accomplished musicians who make catchy songs that always have an original twist.
I find that Ron's falsetto voice always has a weird, slightly disturbing attraction. His extroverted, camp style complimented by Ron's nearly immobile, staid yet pleasant manner - what's not to like?

alright vortex w/e you say. it was one of the stupid fans that came over and talked about the sparks the rescue so i figured id come bash a bit on this band and being 19 years old i dont care about youtube haha
I was thinking "the backing music in this song is great but I'm not sure about the singing" at first.
Then I thought about what the vast majority of pop music sounds like in 2008 -- absolutely horrible -- and realized what a blessing these guys are, still doing their thing after.. what, almost 40 years?
I find alot of their stuff hard to listen to and enjoy, but at the same time I'm also a fan of their work. Such a unique band.
i knew sparks since the 1994 (wdigts & charlie parker) but i never really knew the other stuff, until we discovered them only in early 2008. and my god, was it full of stars. they have fundamentally changed my view of pop music. their lyrics are my way of life and ideas. i feel like sparks has always been my favourite band, i just hadn't discovered them before. and boy am i still discovering..
So weird and unique - in the best way possible - unfortunatly i didnt know about them when my mum and brothers offered me to go to there gigs!! =c !!!

Sparks would be huge if success was based on talent, originality and humour.
Does anyone else think that "I can't believe that you'd put up with all the c**p in this song" is a snipe at Kylie? It sounds so Kyliesque - and I love it!
this is ace, how refreshing in 2008! Criminal that they amongst others such as The Tubes never got commercial success that their talents desereved. Watch out for Sebastien Tellier same mould talented but not commercial! Rock n Roll
The Tubes had a bit of commercial success, but like Sparks they were a bit too 'out there' and ahead of their time for the audiences to be able to appreciate them. But what the heck, they are still brilliant bands - and the Mael brothers are still so cute after all these years! :-)
viking...I saw The Tubes with Squeeze when Squeeze toured the Cool For Cats record. The marquee read Squeeze The Tubes. The Tubes were a bit overrated. After not seeing them for years I checked out their videos. Take away the stage antics and the music isn't THAT great (still good however)...certainly not innovative like Sparks. I still like the Tubes but Sparks music gets better with age. But really...What Do You Want From Life?
Saw the 'outer space' gig last Saturday. The venue was superb, really intimate and I didn't realise quite how brilliant they were live. Ron is funny, completely dead pan but smiled at the end when everyone starting chanting "Ron Ron Ron Ron".
This is cool, I like this, just been to see one of Sparks gigs last night- The Number One Song album set. They only played for an hour, but it was worth every penny short nut sweet - and even Ron smiled at the end!-result.
We are Blessed to have such greatness. History will prove and has proven that Sparks' music transcends pop music and propells it to that of HIGH ART. Just as important and good as Steve Reich or Phillip Glass or Lil Beethoven.
HOW many groups continue to be innovative with the vocabulary of music? Brilliance beyond belief. WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE RON AND RUSSEL MAEL.
This ia another great song from the great Sparks! I would enjoy to see sparks live, however T can not go to London or Japan at this time:( I can see them if they go to the USA.
agree with reipper, lighten up morrissey on this new album is magnificent. hope they release it as a single, be great to see my favourite band in the charts again and that song would do it
I have overload & still listening- sheer sheer brilliance - love it - what more can I say? Wish I could get to London - spec the 'woofer in tweeters clothing' - the best ever - 'moon over Kentucky' - oh god I loved that!!
They never fail - another fantastic single - this has been going on for well over 30 years - I believe this is called genius. Sick that US radio won't play them, but they're in great company (Ramones, Pretty Things, The Move, Joan Armatrading, Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Iggy, Suede, Jam and 1000's more) radio here is wretched and corrupt and has dummied down music as a part of American culture.
Okay we know the album is out on the 19th, is this track being released as a CD single? I'd got it into my head it was out tommorow, but amazon don't have it listed. What's the beef?
I've been a Sparks fan since 1974 & I have to say this this song must be one of the best in years. It is very catchy, great keyboards as usual by Ron & I just love Russell's voice. Brill stuff, can't wait for the album
In the Top 100 rankings for World's Most Under-rated Band (over the past 30 years), suggestions welcome for anyone who could challenge Sparks for Number One (Band in Heaven)?
At the Islington Academy, London, starting tonight. Wish I was there, even though I've never heard album #1. Someone has calculated how many notes will be played: 4,825,273. 21 LPS - even the Stones only have 21 studio releases.
Outstanding, can not wait for this album. Saw them live twice once in London and once in Manchester, hope they come around this way again. A truly amazing group, it's not many groups that can stay fresh and cutting edge after 21 albums
How the hell can they be this great still? Lighten Up, Morrisey is an awesome piece as well. I've been listening to Indiscreet a lot, and Kimono My House. These new songs are nearly as great. And I'm gonna see the band in the summer !!! Welcome to Finland the sparkling Mael brothers!
Don't know whether to be pleased or alarmed, but hear this track ONCE and you will hear it all day in your mind, dream it at night and sing it continuously at your work colleagues.
Renew my reaction, love this song, love Sparks, my backname in Dutch is Spark, coincidence?

Don't know whether to be pleased or alarmed, but hear this track ONCE and you will hear it all day in your mind, dream it at night and sing it continuously at your work colleagues.
