  • Renew my reaction, love this song, love Sparks, my backname in Dutch is Spark, coincidence?

Rediscovered them after at least 25 years and what happened? Not only they were not dead, the best was yet to come, this song and My baby taking me home, brilliant, touching, feel like a groupie!

  • This single was a big surprise for me! Sparks rocks!!!

  • great,great band!!..greater track!...

  • great band,great track..

  • piano part at 1:59 reminds me of, what.... something by Schumann, it's the chord progression and the way Ron is playing it. This whole track has a distinctly classical feel to it.

  • When I feel blessed, I sing "Thank you God for having thought me, I know your time is tight and yet you thought of me."

  • This song never fails to make me feel better and laugh no matter what mood I'm in and no matter how many times I've heard it! Perfected entertainment!

  • ps. 10 people are 10 yrs old. Let's forgive them.

  • oh HEAVEN! I didn't know they still make music (don't beat me up please...) ...so i'm just in SPARKS heaven right now! They are STILL as good as ever! Pure BLISS!!

  • You actually have a better day if you get up and say good morning to someone you love!Try it, with a smile

  • 42-43 years and still at it!

  • 9 people are having a bad morning.

  • Russell is now in his early 60's and is still so gorgeous and sexy !

  • Still COOL!!

  • Was that Mark Radcliffe introducing it? It sounds just like him...

    Anyway, good song! =)

  • @kuroistuc

    It's Simon Mayo

  • @NoTonyPerkins Oh goodness, you're right. XD

Given what I've uploaded to YouTube, you'd have thought I'd have known...

  • Thought this was mica...

  • I love this song! I keep replaying it. :-) Good Morning (-:

  • This is how I feel this morning, Good Morning!

  • Awesome band!

  • Great

Thank you very much for posting

  • "trick ending coming up" ))) lol

  • omg they're AMAZING!!

  • Sorry, if I write in German.

Die Sparks sind aktiv von 1970 bis heute. Das sollen andere Musiker einmal nach machen.

    Sparks are the Best!!!!!!!!!!

  • Sparks are the Best from the World!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I'd never heard this before, but I knew by about three seconds into the song that I was going to love it. And I do! :D

  • sparks is all about funny queerness ,yes queer as this shouldnt be but is and is beutifull, there is no stopping the beat of culture

  • still alive and still so good

  • I love them

  • I posted a video responce of our song 'Just a Taste' because the sound is VERY similar. Thank you god for something rare as this! LOVE this song! 5 stars atleast! Sparks forever!

  • enjoy

  • sounds of Sparks and Anneli van Rooyen bring me back nice memories of SouthAfr ...JHBurg in 70s...beter days..

  • Ron and Russell are the Overlords of Pop! (As for the other guy, well...)

  • still freakin' recording quality for over thirty years..timeless

  • thats true

  • YES IVE FOUND IT AT LAST! i knew this was sparks when it came on the radio. there so underrated.

  • I don't think they're underrated so much. They just aren't overexposed.

  • i am NOT a spark expert..just learning..but this song? FUCKING AMAZING! a ten.. BIG BIG TEN! FIVE BIG STARS....!

  • That's awesome that they are still making musics!! XD! I hope I get to hear more!

  • Nobody sounds like the Scissor Sisters - it's they that sound like other bands, like Sparks.. Do your music history before you leave stupid comments GRANTZX and JUSTEJUST

  • VERY WELL SAID!

  • Hilarious and touching at the same time,

    wonderful music as wel,

    I love this song!

    Thank you Sparks

  • go sparks wooohooo!!

  • immortal band!

  • The best song by Sparks I like it

  • This is by far the best "Good Morning" song out there now.

  • very very very very... good song

  • Wonderful!

  • The Sparks are classic. They always have something ;-)

  • This is their best quality in 20 years. Glad to see them back writing exciting songs with drama the way they used to. I love this track...

  • It's unbelieveable how this band has endured through the years. Sure it's camp, but a lot of people like that as one pster has pointed out. They certainly have the ability to draw a listener in. I've been listening for quite a few years now.

  • I like sparks. my dag And I colect CD White them

  • I've liked them since the 70's and I still don't know WHY!!!!

  • Probably because they are charismatic accomplished musicians who make catchy songs that always have an original twist.

I find that Ron's falsetto voice always has a weird, slightly disturbing attraction. His extroverted, camp style complimented by Ron's nearly immobile, staid yet pleasant manner - what's not to like?

  • I meant Russell's falsetto, of course.

  • I wish they'd make a real video for this

  • It's Sparks, not "The Sparks."

  • Fantastic album, too; well worth the wait (& NOT even counting the 3 MONTHS it took Amazon to deliver it over here...)

  • great song, And I remember them from the 70's! This is a cracking song!

  • Awesome

  • AT LAST!! New songs from the Mael Bros!!! AWESOME!!!! Hey they could play me the alphabet and I'd buy! I adore them!!!

  • Lol I wonder what they would sound like singing the alphabet. I bet it would be catchy:)

  • great!! piece of art

  • Fantastic, their usual high standard, unique and better than a lot of recent stuff in the charts.

  • I was thinking "the backing music in this song is great but I'm not sure about the singing" at first.

Then I thought about what the vast majority of pop music sounds like in 2008 -- absolutely horrible -- and realized what a blessing these guys are, still doing their thing after.. what, almost 40 years?

I find alot of their stuff hard to listen to and enjoy, but at the same time I'm also a fan of their work. Such a unique band.

  • I discovered Sparks maybe a week ago, and I think I'm losing my mind.......

  • :D been there

  • i knew sparks since the 1994 (wdigts & charlie parker) but i never really knew the other stuff, until we discovered them only in early 2008. and my god, was it full of stars. they have fundamentally changed my view of pop music. their lyrics are my way of life and ideas. i feel like sparks has always been my favourite band, i just hadn't discovered them before. and boy am i still discovering..

  • Awesome! my brother got me into them!

    1000000/5!!!! they rule!

So weird and unique - in the best way possible - unfortunatly i didnt know about them when my mum and brothers offered me to go to there gigs!! =c !!!

    still

    ROCK ON!!!

  • You must feel cheated!

  • you sound like a very sad and unfulfilled person

  • beatiful

  • KICK FRIGGIN ASS!!!!

Nice sound and song musically gives a wave to Mozzer's "A Push and A Rush!" Russ how do you manage to keep it "UP THERE???"

  • it s so good!!!godless!!!and the end... SO COOL!!!!best of sparks songs!

  • Witam! Dobrego dnia!

    Alicja

  • Great song-5/5

  • Dobre:)

  • Lovely! :)

  • Its gr8 ther still goin, this sounds gud

  • also great in Poland (I am fifty four) but enjoy this one very much.

    Lovely !

  • AMAZING!! Sparks once again showing em how it's done...

  • Hey, OM; You've been digging deep...

    Good so;-)

  • the song's great!!!

A TRÓJKA ma jak zwykle nosa do tego, co dobre!!!

  • indeed :)

bo Trojka ma standardy ktorych sie mocno trzyma ^^

  • the GREATEST band at a moment!

  • Great song, who would have thought they had been making records since the early '70s, beats all the contemporary music.

  • I'm only just getting into Sparks thanks to Justin Hawkins' cover of 'This Town.....' What have I been doing with my life?

  • great band, i was in their concert few days ago- brilliant performance. Sparks really are going better and better!

  • Sparks would be huge if success was based on talent, originality and humour.

Does anyone else think that "I can't believe that you'd put up with all the c**p in this song" is a snipe at Kylie? It sounds so Kyliesque - and I love it!

  • Yes, how different in this day & age, I love it. I'd never heard of Sparks before this; gotta check 'em out now!

  • Oh man, where to begin.

A couple to get you started (more famous ones)

"Cool Places" with Jane Wiedlin (of the Go-Gos)

"Dick Around," "I Predict," "Big Boy" and "This Town Ain't Big Enough" will get ya started.

    They are all on here.

  • this is ace, how refreshing in 2008! Criminal that they amongst others such as The Tubes never got commercial success that their talents desereved. Watch out for Sebastien Tellier same mould talented but not commercial! Rock n Roll

  • The Tubes had a bit of commercial success, but like Sparks they were a bit too 'out there' and ahead of their time for the audiences to be able to appreciate them. But what the heck, they are still brilliant bands - and the Mael brothers are still so cute after all these years! :-)

  • viking...I saw The Tubes with Squeeze when Squeeze toured the Cool For Cats record. The marquee read Squeeze The Tubes. The Tubes were a bit overrated. After not seeing them for years I checked out their videos. Take away the stage antics and the music isn't THAT great (still good however)...certainly not innovative like Sparks. I still like the Tubes but Sparks music gets better with age. But really...What Do You Want From Life?

  • Saw the 'outer space' gig last Saturday. The venue was superb, really intimate and I didn't realise quite how brilliant they were live. Ron is funny, completely dead pan but smiled at the end when everyone starting chanting "Ron Ron Ron Ron".

  • Congrats, R74! Would have loved to be there;-)

  • Cheers....have you seen them live?

  • Cheers;-)

    Yeah, in '95 & '00.

  • powerhouse of a song it is a shame when it ends . superb lyrics .

  • Just letting Sparks fans know I did a video for their new song "Likeable". It is one of the videos above...with the big fat head. :P

  • This is cool, I like this, just been to see one of Sparks gigs last night- The Number One Song album set. They only played for an hour, but it was worth every penny short nut sweet - and even Ron smiled at the end!-result.

  • How do they do it?? I guess true eccentricity is something that you never lose, if anything it gets better with age. Long live Sparks!!

  • We are Blessed to have such greatness. History will prove and has proven that Sparks' music transcends pop music and propells it to that of HIGH ART. Just as important and good as Steve Reich or Phillip Glass or Lil Beethoven.

HOW many groups continue to be innovative with the vocabulary of music? Brilliance beyond belief. WE ARE BLESSED TO HAVE RON AND RUSSEL MAEL.

  • the dogsgonads !!!.................

  • This ia another great song from the great Sparks! I would enjoy to see sparks live, however T can not go to London or Japan at this time:( I can see them if they go to the USA.

  • Great song. Only really knew 'This Town..' before this but this may turn me into a fan.

  • agree with reipper, lighten up morrissey on this new album is magnificent. hope they release it as a single, be great to see my favourite band in the charts again and that song would do it

  • is there a video?. great band for years

  • Fucking Brilliant nuff said

  • Decent. I'm sure the rest of the album will be better than this.

I never really enjoy their singles, but the less I like it, the better the album is for me.

  • I have overload & still listening- sheer sheer brilliance - love it - what more can I say? Wish I could get to London - spec the 'woofer in tweeters clothing' - the best ever - 'moon over Kentucky' - oh god I loved that!!

  • Islington, 20 more to go!!

  • Good bloody morning to you too!

Best bloody single I've heard in an eternity. I even almost quit smoking.

  • WHERE IS THE CHRIST-B-FRIGGIN' SINGLE??!@?!!!!! Summer needs to begin

  • They never fail - another fantastic single - this has been going on for well over 30 years - I believe this is called genius. Sick that US radio won't play them, but they're in great company (Ramones, Pretty Things, The Move, Joan Armatrading, Chemical Brothers, Kraftwerk, Iggy, Suede, Jam and 1000's more) radio here is wretched and corrupt and has dummied down music as a part of American culture.

  • Sweden <------ same here!!

  • Okay we know the album is out on the 19th, is this track being released as a CD single? I'd got it into my head it was out tommorow, but amazon don't have it listed. What's the beef?

  • A tremendeous return to top form

  • Loved them in the 70's & still brilliant!

  • Loved them in the 70's & still love them now - brilliant!

  • effing fantastic

  • I've been a Sparks fan since 1974 & I have to say this this song must be one of the best in years. It is very catchy, great keyboards as usual by Ron & I just love Russell's voice. Brill stuff, can't wait for the album

  • Sparkdeco is just an old groupie of theirs aren't you babes

  • brilliant

  • Fantastic!!!I love it!

  • In the Top 100 rankings for World's Most Under-rated Band (over the past 30 years), suggestions welcome for anyone who could challenge Sparks for Number One (Band in Heaven)?

  • ELO

    Alan Parsons project

  • Showaddywaddy :D

  • thtis was a reply to riotambopata by the way, not just a random thingy lol

  • they are doing a 21 night residency somewhere doing an album per night apparently

  • At the Islington Academy, London, starting tonight. Wish I was there, even though I've never heard album #1. Someone has calculated how many notes will be played: 4,825,273. 21 LPS - even the Stones only have 21 studio releases.

  • theyve come back with a great song

  • what a great song!...great lyrics...great piano riff..these guys are genieuses!

  • Outstanding, can not wait for this album. Saw them live twice once in London and once in Manchester, hope they come around this way again. A truly amazing group, it's not many groups that can stay fresh and cutting edge after 21 albums

  • I first fell for Sparks in 1974, they are genius. Brilliant.

  • How the hell can they be this great still? Lighten Up, Morrisey is an awesome piece as well. I've been listening to Indiscreet a lot, and Kimono My House. These new songs are nearly as great. And I'm gonna see the band in the summer !!! Welcome to Finland the sparkling Mael brothers!

  • Love it! Love it! Love it!

  • Yes yes yes fantastic

  • here's where the groove went.

  • Mozart, Mendelssohn, Mahler and now introducing the Maels!

  • Most musical track for years. Brill

  • Really, really good.

  • top of the bill. wonder what the video looks like,

  • Fucking brilliant song!! Sticks a foot in The Hossiers arse!!

  • couldn't understand all the lyrics but the ones i could are very funny - i hope you're laugh is the only thing that's infectious, for example.

  • SPARKS.......Brill or what. Nothin' more to add

  • ...ain't that the truth davejay18 - it's just not stated often enough!

  • reality, sanity, insanity...who knows..surely it must be a dream..am i going insane? with a little help from sparks perhaps !

  • How do they do it? Completely different but Sparks all over!

  • very very addictive WOW

  • They just get better and better!!!

  • Very catchy tune. Woot!!!

  • This is GREAT.....everyone should also check out "Lighten Up, Morrissey" (the video response here)

  • Awesome!

  • What a hook! Can't wait for 1 month today!

  • Don't know whether to be pleased or alarmed, but hear this track ONCE and you will hear it all day in your mind, dream it at night and sing it continuously at your work colleagues.

  • Quite addictive...

  • Vintage Sparks!

  • This is my second listen and I must admit it really grows on you.
