If you pay close attention, the editing in this show is terrible. Kirk plays riffs that are from a different song, Jason has a different shirt and guitar. lol
@S474N5R3V3R3NC3 No it was Jason because James was only using the black explorer. There is a brief second you can clearly see Jason playing a black bass but then it switches lol. Poor video editing.

who says lars sucks at drums? people seem to forget that he fucked shit up during the late 80's to mid 90's then he changed his style a little, toning it down on the ridiculous double bass fills (which i love)
@ravens4life55 i admit lars doesnt play as agressive as he did when he was young, but hes still a monster drummber. and on top of that hes the drummer of METALLICA. i dont think anybody can say he sucks with that title.
@abhs6 on the record I'm pretty sure it's the same.....this is definitely faster than the record, and Dyers Eve is slower cause Lars doesn't play it properly anymore
not that i wouldnt go see metallica in real life and not that i have anything against "new metallica" (which after death magnetic is done) and not that it wouldnt be awesome. but metallica has lost its edge and energy
@the666doppelganger Yea, A7x uses a little more double bass then Metallica. Lamb of God uses a lot. Ive only played drums twice in my life and neither had double bass so. Cool ill look forward 2 it.
@the666doppelganger I'm the biggest Metallica fan out there and I love them to death, but I will agree with you, Lars is not that great, not in the top 10 drummers of all-tim, maybe not even the top 20.
@the666doppelganger Interesting note that not a lot of people don't know about, that I read in the latest 'tallica bio by Mick Wall: In the summer of '86 shortly before Cliff's death, Cliff and James were thinking of asking Dave Lombardo to join Metallica and kick Lars out. Lars didn't have exclusive rights to the name yet and Lombardo has said he would've said yes as he was on a leave from Slayer at the time. Imagine 'tallica with Lombardo, though we did get a taste of it in 2004
@SullivanandFriends i know its a crazy what if, but imagine metallica if they never booted mustaine, cliff never died and they replaced lars with dave... they would be the most talented, ass kicking band of all time
@the666doppelganger ok, that's cool and all, but at least recognize that back in lar's day, a song like dyer's eve was pretty damned revolutionary. Obviously after the 80's people would play harder and faster, but faster drummers would not exist if guys like lars and dave lombardo hadn't paved the way first. You might have outdone lars at 18 today, but keep in mind how revolutionary and fast thrash metal drumming, including that of Lars, was when he was 18. Nobody ever heard drumming that fast
@ryuhirata1 actually there's like thousands of drummers that can play double bass much better and can play much faster than lars...he isn't that good. but i still love metallica!
@ThrashmetalFl for someone that doesnt use triggers that is fucking fast though! lol but i know there are much better drummers than lars but he always gives 110% every time he plays
@ryuhirata1 metallica is metallica. but there are so many bands... that kicks your ass so hard, that you thinking omfg what is this?! you know Razor? or Morbit Saint?
@uiet1123 that's not true, he wears them for the same reason I do: because he sweats and sweat leaves salt on the guitar. and as watch the video closely, he IS wearing wristbands at the start of the video so I guess that's a mistery, why the wristband is missing.
@vladm1994 the secret of the missing wristband is probably because the clips are taking from shows on different nights but at the same venue and thats how the dvd was put together, and hetfield probably couldnt be arsed wearing wristbands on one of the shows
@rayven1lk this consert are recordings of 2 shows done over 2 nights so the are som mixing of footage frome those shows...in bredfan f.eg you can see kirk use diffrent guitars all the time..espesial during the solo
This METALLICA !!!!! JASON, LARS, KIRK, JAMES !!!! COME BACK AND DRUNK FOR US !!!!! the best metal ever can survive...but they are not so agresive like this concert...anyway...ROCK ON !!!!
@nickanbilly lars doesnt do anything extremely amazing on the double bass. but this of course was a time were double bass and music like this was new, so nobody was really doing anything amazing by todays standards. look at slayers angel of death. that song really helped to kick start the idea, but even still it was mostly straight through. Lombardo has advanced his technique to use double bass in a different way, and lars has moved away from it a bit favoring better fills on his hands
@gerbile3 Motorheads overkill was the first song to really use double bass drumming in metal, and Lars was uing DB drumming way before Dave Lombardo, listen to kill em all "four horsemen" and ride the lightning songs " FFWF and "trapped under ice" 2 - 3 years before reign in blood came out, lars in the pioneer of thrash metal drumming.

what the hell happened to metallica?! lars doesn't use the double bass pedals anymore, he suck and hetfield sing like a chiken, i hope the original metallica return becuse the new one is a sh***t. this perfomace is awesome! the best metallica ever 1983-1989
@plutarch78 man, dave lombardo is older than ulrich, and he use the double bass pedal, its obvious that ulrich simply doesn't want to use the pedals anymore
@net34a The "original" Metallica is James, Lars, Dave Mustaine & Ron McGovney. I wouldn't hold out hope for a reunion. Lars is a douche, but he has NEVER sucked at drumming, nor has he given up the double-kick. James is almost 50, and his onstage responsibilities would still reduce most 20-year-olds to dust. Cut him a damn break. "Death Magnetic" is fantastic, also. Mostly.

Lars isn't that fast on the double bass.
Not just that, I crossed his Dyers eve tempo of 194 bpm two years ago at the age of 18.
My fastest is 220.
Lars can't even play Dyers Eve live.

@the666doppelganger Love to see you hold that 220bpm for 18 songs 5 minutes each.

@RainingBlood15
That isn't easy.
I can do it for 6 or 7 mins continuous before my legs start dying.
But songs never need continuous double ever.
I have done a half an hour show with Lamb Of God and Avenged Sevenfold covers though.
That stuff is way tougher than Metallica.
I'll post a video in 2 or 3 weeks for proof.
:-)

@DruumStixx
i think rob's a better bassist too, but jason absolutely owned the backup vocals and just generally made for a more entertaining performance

@net34a I agree. but its called being in your 40-50's. Their bodies simply can't repeat that kind of speed and power like they could 20 years ago.
plutarch78 11 months ago
@plutarch78 man, dave lombardo is older than ulrich, and he use the double bass pedal, its obvious that ulrich simply doesn't want to use the pedals anymore
net34a 11 months ago
@net34a The "original" Metallica is James, Lars, Dave Mustaine & Ron McGovney. I wouldn't hold out hope for a reunion. Lars is a douche, but he has NEVER sucked at drumming, nor has he given up the double-kick. James is almost 50, and his onstage responsibilities would still reduce most 20-year-olds to dust. Cut him a damn break. "Death Magnetic" is fantastic, also. Mostly.
