What most people don't know about this sketch is that the producers didn't have to motivate Northern Calloway in any way. He believed he was playing in a real baseball game.
I love it! A sketch that not only talked about parts of the body, but taught me at a young age about all the protective gear baseball catchers need. Plus I got to laugh my head off at Jerry's Nelson's frustration.
One of my bosses at works sounds just like Jerry Nelson...so every time he speaks, I think of David trying to get his equipment on and I want to die of laughter! Love this one!
I remember this. This and 'Bob, Luis, and the Train' were two of my favorite Sesame Street skits involving human cast members. Nice, upbeat tune that caps itself off with a renidition of a timeless classic. Sluggo might as well be a multisport athlete considering the variety of balls that were thrown at him!:)
While we're at it, the colors and design of the uniform that Sluggo is wearing would most closely resemble that of either the San Diego Padres or Pittsburgh Pirates in the 1970's. Just my opinion.
Just goes to show you what Joe could do with a classic song. Funky, yet punctuated with duck sounds. Probably because David was acting like a real "fowl" ball in this bit!
Kids, this is what NOT to do when getting dressed! LOL! I remember watching this as a little girl and rolling on the floor with laughter. :)

Fat Blue was narrating this... he probably went to Charlie's restaurant afterwards, and got even more crazy....

Voice sounds a tad too young for Fat Blue, at least for me. Maybe it's a younger relation?

Sluggo's clearly not the brightest crayon in the box, considering all the many ways he misplaces his equipment trying to put it on.
Of course the end, with all the balls coming at him, is the pay off!

Who is that narrating?

The funniest thing of all is that when I first saw The RZA, I thought of this clip when NC does that head movement with his face mask! ROFL!!!! Peace

Wow, I never realized that the music was "Take Me out to the Ball Game" rearranged by Joe Raposo! I haven't seen this in about 30 years! Peace.

Jerry Nelson is truly a master of conveying frustration through his voice! He's always been one of my favourite Muppet performers.

Yeah, between him getting impatient with Sluggo and Sluggo putting stuff on the wrong way, I never could decide which made me LMAO more.
