  • RIP Martin Rushent

  • this sounds fantastic on 12" vinyl

  • It was with great sadness I heard about the death of Martin Rushent. If his name was on the record sleeve it was a seal of quality for me

  • Prisoner, great, and Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch FTW!

  • love the single dangling earring at the beginning: so '80s!

  • i miss vh1 classic request hour when they first stared they would find all there archived and play them no matter how rare it is they had it.

  • She reminds me of a sqeaky mouse i stood on once

it was a toy one. Eeeeeeeeck.

  • This is my favourite Altered Images song, from a time when pop bands still played musical instruments

  • @fredmila True.

  • THIS SONG WAS PLAYING WHEN I MET MY WIFE AT THE PEPERMING LOUNGE ON 45 TH STREET IN NYC. TIME WAITS FOR NO ONE...SO HAVE FUN AND DON'T CHANGE.

    NYSERGE

  • pure class - all that isnt here nowadays (sigh)

  • Portmerioin North Wales, the imagery is from a 1960's sci-fi TV series called

'The Prisoner' .. very odd series, very odd indeed, lots of stuff and double meanings, allegorical tale of government beuracracy and control anyhow.

LOVE THIS SONG .. remember when music had melody instead of just dancers to a drummachine ? yeah .. me too..

  • Ye...love dis one...

  • God how I love Clare and her quirkiness and her loveliness and her sense of fun (and all the other things translucentman said). Love this video and all the great references, like The Prisoner and Llanfair PG. :-) She has that whole wonderful zeitgeist of those terrific New Romantic Early 80s (79-83ish), and just makes them timeless and forever fresh. Just fabulous. Thanks! Miss this stuff.

  • @MrGallagher Started then left secondry school during those dates, happy days, fantastic music and the making of me.

They made fun of Clair's wonderful voice..I knew better.. a great time music wise Simple Minds, ABC, Human League, Haircut 100, yeah i knew better thanks for posting!

  • Claire was quirky and fun and clean and decent and all that lady gaga can never be............

  • @translucentman: aye. And she had a starring performance in Father Ted. How many popsters today could overshadow Father Jack?

  • @translucentman Well-said. Best comment on youtube!

  • Clair was such a woman..

  • I still love this song. "I'm feeling rather funny and I don't know who I am..."

  • I went to portmerion (the village). It actually looks like it does in the prisoner!

  • Pop Goddess.

  • Friday Fluffy Fun. Altered Images were pure 80s pop perfection. Great song to brighten up this rainy Friday morning.

  • Friday Fluffy Fun. Altered Images were pure 80s pop perfection. Great song to brighten up this rainy Friday morning.

  • I bought this for the beginning riff alone - that was many years ago!

  • I bought it because she had a short skirt on.

  • fantastic... the first 12" single i ever bought,,,, still have it somewhere...... timeless

  • makes me want to go watch the prisoner

  • Sheesh...makes wanna dig into the ole box of vinyls and pull me Eps and play them on the turntable.....Now if only I could remember where the turntables disappeared to...???

  • Clearly filmed at Hotel Portmeirion as was The Prisoner... I recognize it from my one visit there..

  • I can listen to this over and over and over again

  • This girl was so cute in that movie Gregory's Girl .

  • I must heard this sound before born

  • we got the extractions of this and Siouxsie when I was a kid in America in the early 80s...cannot take it away from me! Thanks! Great to see this again!

  • god i feel old, clare looks like my x wife cow...

  • "x wife" ???? blimey you lucky b'stard !!

  • Great Homage to the TV series the Prisoner. First to do so!

  • happy birthday

  • Reminds me of being 17 and pissed with me mates on bank holiday in Whitley Bay.

Just can't beat the early 80's

  • Always thought Jim & Tich looked really cool & confident while Tony & John looked a bit nervous, not just in performances but their photos as well. How any of them could concentrate properly with Clare infront of them I'll never know!

  • brings back memories

  • Nostalgia, Yes! I fell in love with the voice before I ever saw her. When I saw her, I was done. Good thing She did not live in the states, I might have stalked her at that age, LOL!

  • Altered Images can really surprise, they are quite good at changing chords and comming up with very catchy tunes. The pixie of pop is at her best in this song and video.

  • Everyone loves clare grogan xx

  • Awesome song!

  • Patrick Mc was stellar in Escape From Alcatraz!!!!!!

  • Patrick McGoohan is dead? He was still alive according to Wikipedia when I read about him four days ago.

  • Great tune and fantastic video. RIP Patrick McGoohan! Be seeing you!

  • You were right. He did die, about a week before I read your comment. Sorry. This is what happens when I don't watch the news every day.

  • I knew they had done a video based on The Prisoner, thank you so much for putting this up.

  • Last time I heard this WAS 1982 lol

  • Nostalgia City!

  • Superb! Thanks!

  • I love this song, I love this album, I love this video, I LOVE THIS BAND!!! Clare Grogan was such a huge childhood crush for me!!!

  • wonderful altered images. clare is lovely, cute, pretty...

  • Thank you for posting this!

  • I was crazy about Clare and Altered Images way back when!!! In a way they were a guilty pleasure. I still love them and have my old Altered Images stuff. Everything they did had a supersweet cuteness to it that I always found endearing! And yes, who wasn't crazy about Clare back then!? Clare was also cute in the movie "Gregory's Girl". I still have a perfectly pristine poster of her from nearly 30 years ago. Long live Clare and their music!!!!!!!!!!

  • Purrfect~~~«q~_~p~»~~~P☺P

  • You're absolutely right PAULLONDEN!!! You have great taste!

  • i love her dress!!!!

  • This is a great song and video, which parodies the 1960s cult tv series The Prisoner.

It was filmed at Portmerion in north west Wales, which is where The Prisoner was filmed as well.

    Thanks for the posting cpunctn!

  • I love this song and the lyrics are amazing! Thanks for posting!!! This is grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreat! I'm not a tiger.

  • Ahhh forget about Clare Grogan. Oor cousin is the drummer!! On yersel Michael!!

  • Claire Grogan in THAT dress. I've never quite fallen out of love with her.

  • the 80's what agreat time to be a teenager!!! this video of altered images reminds me of how refreshing electronic rock is. saw this band in 81 and miss them. thanks a bunch for returning great memories of a special time. narly dude!!

  • She's so goddam CUTE!

  • Excellent! Been waiting ages for someone to post this vid...filmed at Portmeirion in Wales, site of The Village in The Prisoner TV show!

  • FINALLY someone put this up... ThANKS!!

  • God this brings back memories....Clair Grogan was one of the ultra-hot New-Wave 80's babe that I used to have such a crush on. Others being Terri Nunn and Kim Wilde. Thanks for posting this video.

  • Claire Grogan was probably UK's version of Dale Bozzio, the frontwoman of fellow New Wave band Missing Persons

  • BAhhh! Dale Bozzio was/is a skanky bimbo compared to delicious Claire! Plus Claire's still lookin good at 40+. Dale, well...looks like she did too much coke back in the day ;-)

  • I hate to say it (because Missing Person is one of my favorite group from the 1980s) but you are right. Clair Grogon, as well as Terri Nunn, Kim Wilde and a lot of the other hot 1980s New Wave babes are now in their 40s or 50s but they still look pretty. I saw Missing Person perform in a reunion tour 3 years ago in L.A. and Dale has not aged gracefully.

  • @dennisclee great song nice era.

  • @dennisclee Yes - Clare! And that Kim Wilde - hot! Don't forget Kate Gardner and Siouxsie!

  • @dirkwearsws Hah - I had a thing for Kim Wilde... she's a bit hippy (somewhat overweight) now... Clare reminds me of sort of a New Wavish Sheena Easton... :-)

  • At first I thought it was Madonna singing this (i.e. the early years) This song kicks ass!

  • I was just looking for this particular video the week before it posted! Had't seen it in over 20yrs. Nice video of a fantastic tv series, with a great song to boot...thanks for the post!

  • Great song and a great homage to The Prisoner.
