I saw this live when it happened 15 years ago and although I had heard her name didn't really know who she was but after watching this , I will never forget her. this is by far the most moving moment I have ever seen related to songwriting or almost anything else. I cry every time I watch it as I did the first. If this doesn't make you cry you don't understand how music and family go hand in hand. We can all learn something from this!
I was watching when this when it originally aired in 1997 - and even though it has been almost 14 years, this still gets to me everytime. I have NEVER watched this clip without crying....You Don't Know Me is one the most beautiful songs of all time
God, give me the strength to always remember who I am, from whom I have come, and at least, my home address. For so many years, to have known, but not to have known someone, is a whirligig I dare not enter once more. Yet, Cindy Walker has penned, without a doubt, most of the precious thoughts I would like to live in peace with.
How I wish I had had the privilege of meeting this incredibly talented, sweet, and beautiful lady. This is, without question, one of the most memorable moments in the history of Hall of Fame inductions. Your fans will always love you, Cindy, and will never forget you or your music.
What a fine example of beautiful, warm and undeniable class this lady exhibited that night. Cindy Walker is at the top of my list of the most influential people here in Nashville, Tennessee.
I remember seeing this when she was inducted and I too have looked for it on here. She was one of the greatest songwriters that ever lived. Thank you for all the music Cindy!

Brings a tear to the eye. One of the great memories & honors years ago was when Cindy Walker took time to call my wife Cindy and I and visit with us. Her songs have put us on the dance floor a many a time down here in Texas. We loved them all! God Bless this First Lady of Texas Music always!
THANK YOU SO MUCH for posting this! I have looked and looked and looked for it and here it is! Still makes me cry! Bless your heart Cindy Walker and R.I.P.
I also saw this on TV and wept like a baby as she read this heat touching poem. I want to thank whoever posted this, I have never forgotten this poem throughout the years and now anyone can view this special moment!
I hate to admit it , but as much as I`ve listened to country and western I`d never heard of Cindy Walker till recently listening again to Bob Wills old recording on one of these Postings, and she was mentioned as having written some of the songs. Anyway, I accidently came upon a posting of a video that might have been her & a group prancing, dancing & singing. I`d love to find it (video) . Someone perhaps know which one am talking about? Did she also danced? thanks!!
Thank yiou one million times for posting this. I didn't get it on tape when I saw it - and I never saw this spectacular moment coming on the show. I wept like a baby when she ended her poem and her voice cracked so beautifully. The sweetest, most spontaneous, most beautiful moment on any CMA show, ever...!!
CMHof F should be ashamed and embarassed it took them some 79 YEARS to induct this treasure of a lady.
CYA if you ask me. What a bunch of commercial nonsense most 'modern' country has become :(

If this doesn't put a lump in your throat, you need to get the hell out of the country!
Thanks for posting this. Such a sweet moment. The country music industry has definitely lost its soul these days.
