You pay 600$ a month for health insurance!? I live in Israel, I pay 178NIS for a mandatory public plan and I choose to pay extra 42NIS for complementary coverage + 50 for nursing insurance. I could choose to pay another 120NIS for a private insurance that would cover for medical procedures abroad, and cover me for lose of income due to sickness. AND I'D STILL PAY LESS THAN YOU DO, SUCKER, AND HAVE BETTER COVERAGE!
And poor people who are not eligible for medicaid (60% of all poor people), and college students who simply can't afford it, and people who's coverage was dropped due to "pre-existing condition" or "family history", and anyone who lost his job, and anyone who went bankrupt. Other countries spend about 8% of their GDP on healthcare, and have insurance for 100% of their people. USA spends 16% of it's GDP on programs that cover about 30%.

Social Security can keep on running as it is for another 20 years. Except it won't have to, because the generation of the baby boomers won't be here forever, and they represent a major part of the cost. As for Medicare - break the monopoly of the pharmaceutical industry and allow importation of medicine into the US, that should lower the costs and fix the problem. :)

Country's became socialist mainly after a communist rule or a war that ravaged their country so they would survive. People actuate socialism with Hitler. Our government spends 8K per person on healthcare???? Where did you come up with that? The government spends money on the elderly for Medicare, and they are trying to stop that. We taxpayers are funding that. It's not the hard working people who don't have health insurance, it's the welfare recipients, and "indestructible" young people who CHOOSE not to have insurance. Not to mention the millions of illegal aliens. I am in favor of healthcare reform, just not with the government in charge.

I just see these poor people at these town hall meetings being laughed at an mocked an put down an all they want is to know what the party of NO has to say about their grand idea's that they never implemented. One lady has insurance but wont cover her autoimmune disease an meds cost her 340 every 2 weeks an is probably going to loose her home cause she can't pay property tax.

You are right. Most of those poor people at those town hall meetings are seniors who have come there bacause they are concerned about losing their Medicare coverage. I don't think anyone who attends these meetings should be mocked, except for the ones that have been paid to attend. Hey, I don't like paying nearly $600.00 a month to cover my family, but I surely don't want the government to be in charge of healthcare either. Many things can be done short of that. TORT reform, intrastate comp. etc

I am not covered under the medicare plan, because I am not old enough. It was a necessary evil to implement govt. run medicare, because many senior citizens are on fixed incomes, and can't afford private hc. There is nothing hilarious to me about the govt. option. DUH!

You pay 600$ a month for health insurance!? I live in Israel, I pay 178NIS for a mandatory public plan and I choose to pay extra 42NIS for complementary coverage + 50 for nursing insurance. I could choose to pay another 120NIS for a private insurance that would cover for medical procedures abroad, and cover me for lose of income due to sickness. AND I'D STILL PAY LESS THAN YOU DO, SUCKER, AND HAVE BETTER COVERAGE!

And poor people who are not eligible for medicaid (60% of all poor people), and college students who simply can't afford it, and people who's coverage was dropped due to "pre-existing condition" or "family history", and anyone who lost his job, and anyone who went bankrupt. Other countries spend about 8% of their GDP on healthcare, and have insurance for 100% of their people. USA spends 16% of it's GDP on programs that cover about 30%.
