If GM sold this type of Suburban I would buy a new one immediately. It is a joke that GM and FORD need to be bailed out because they are not with the program. I feel bad for the people who may lose their jobs.
Awesome!!! I'd wish to see more companies focusing on larger vehicles than just small ugly looking cars. Hopefully people will get back into the larger vehicle market since large vehicles can be just efficient as these ugly little front wheel drive cars. I'd also love to see some hybrid pickup trucks and full size vans. Maybe then Starcraft vans will become popular once again!! :)
how are there less parts if you still have a gasoline engine with 1000lbs of battery and an electric motor....etc just tell us the price to produce and compare to a stock gasser......
The Suburban is the best vehicle on the road. It's a 4x4 limo that turns tighter than any minivan. This is the vehicle GM should be pushing, not that useless speck called the Volt.
amen. the salvation of GM is right under their noses.....sadly they'll probably go chasing butterflies and rainbows right up to their (GM's) last day.
Thats awesome. Its the future. I'll keep my classic cars with their V8s because their is no better sounding engine than a V8. But for everyday driving I would love to have a plug in Hybrid.
This is awesome!!! I need a plug in hybrid for my family of six!

Wake up GM, build the Suburban Hybrid. I don't want the little bro Tahoe Hybrid, that's a joke. I need the extra space I have now in my Suburban.

Listening to him makes me think we took a real wrong turn in ever using gas! Way to Go Dr. Frank! Thanks for what you're doing!

This research is a step towards getting rid of the carbon exhaust gas engine. Rome wasn't built in a day!
The only reason we hold on to the gas part is because the infrastructure supports this (with all the *gas* stations) and nothing else.
Go outside and take a deep breath.
10 years from now, your lungs will thank you.
15 years from now, your kids will thank you.
100 years from now, the people, flora and fauna of the planet will thank you.

Half gas, half electric, all useless! Nice engineering skills no doubt, but hybrids are obsolete.

This is the future...yet companies don't even take a second look at plug-in hybrids.

Very cool
But even with all the savings in fuel, they'd still have to sell it at the same price (or less) than a gasser for me to even consider it...

Both General Motors and Toyota are promising plug-in hybrids by the 2010 model year (late 2009).
