This is just a way to get people to buy stuff, it's probably no better for the environment than any other piece of plastic. What it is is marketing. New products like this that boast to "stop global warming" get a free hype ride, and of course all the consumers out their feel very righteous purchasing it.

This is a funny idea...but....

Solar energy is BAD becouse:

Everything needs engery. am i Right?

It also needs engery to make these solar pannels.

It takes 6 years before solarpannels have made enough enegry to produce the engergy that the fabrick needed to make the solar pannels.

But after 6 years you have to replace the solarpannels becouse they arent makin enough energy to (for example) refill your battery!

so... that is the problem with solar energy.

My impression of this product is that it's really more about getting energy to charge your gear where it's not so easy to find a wall socket. For people traveling around places where they're not in hotels etc... But your point about solar in general makes sense.

solar energy is BAD!? i don't get this. why should we not use the vast amount of free energy the sun offers us every day? why should this be bad? i think it is the best way to get our energy, better than wind and water. of course it needs also energy to make these solar panels - as you said there isn't anything which you can produce without using energy (even plants need energy to be "produced"). But YOU CAN USE SOLAR ENERGY to make solar panels. Why don't people think that far?

this is a good idea but the technology as it stands now does mean that unless you are constantly using it you will not recoup the energy required to manufacture the device. But hopefully with better battery and photovoltaic technology in the future we will recoup the energy faster. Re member batteries are bad for the environment but are alot better than buying non-rechargeable batteries which you use once and throw away
