@40951 i passed my class 1 in the morning and in the afternoon i was driving a arctic down the country. so what if they pass there test then drive a 40 tonne truck.
another tanker driver in a bump with yet another stobart driver. the two worst driving hgv waggons in the country, a recipe for disaster . stobart drivers straight from passing their test to driving 40 tonners . like giving a kid a shotgun.
@40951 bullshit! whilst I dont like Stobarts as a company, just like I hate wincanton and and the rest that have screwed things up for drivers you are retarded for generalizing the drivers of companies with such huge fleets and so many drivers. Drivers are drivers, no matter who they work for, seems like you are bitter but too dumb to realise just like you their drivers are out to earn a living.
@gonegang37. Yeh. His truck was only a Scania. Isn't it funny how whenever there is an accident with a hgv it is nearly always a stobart truck involved.
@jonny2k100 seeing as they have the largest fleet in the UK, ermm I wouldnt call it funny just reality. Just the same as most accidents involve car rather than tractors, hoverboards and space hoppers due to the fact more are on the road!!!!!!!! derrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
Bad weather and impatience just like evry fucker who drives in London almost wiped out numerous numbers of cars cutting infront by barging past when there lane on the A40 is closed you know who you are and I will have no problems in driving over you and your car with your crap fucking driving I am in a 44 tonne truck and you maybe a 1 or 2 tonne car at least I will be going home alive
the current system works keep speed limits at 70mph. police are flexible and will allow vehicles to travel up to 88mph if we put the speed limit at 80mph people may thinks its appropriate to drive 100+MPH as its now only 20mph more?
jheeze the eddie stobart truck is in some bad condition i mean im a fan and that is the name of the truck that i saw before the huge pile up the speed limit is good but perhaps there should be brighter light's or something im no expert on roads but i think something should be dealt with because if this happens again there is going to be another huge pile up and more casualtys and deaths r.i.p those involved
Hey idiots, 70 mph does not mean you have to drive at 70 mph. You drive according to the conditions. If there is thick fog, you slow down. 70 mph is not safe. As things are people tend to drive at 80 mph and still do not use signals. If the limit increases to 80 mph, then it will be 90 mph and still no signals.
All cars need to be fitted with cruise control, able to be activated from roadside monitors. Vehicles can then be slowed down as conditions dictate.
@pitielbasani1 omg you clearly dont understand,. IF someone over reacts to the conditions, be it rain, snow or fog and slows far more than everyone else it will cause a danger to other road users. But hey what do I know Im only on the road for around 9 hours a day so see how accidents happen
@pimpUK1. So, you are on the road for around 9 hours a day. Can I assume a truck driver? One of those who pulls out in front of cars, or drives about a cab distance from the truck in front, meaning if it stopped suddenly you have to pull out in front of overtaking traffic. The fact is, you drive according to the conditions, which means if it is foggy, or heavy rain, you assume that drivers ahead of you will be driving according to the conditions, and will have slowed down.
@pitielbasani1 I think you will find the trucks that appear to be too close wil actually be that close as they are waiting for you to bimble past before they overtake or they have just been overtaken and the truck in frnt has moved in, after a friendly flash. This is to stop whinging car drivers that moan about trucks overtaking however with speed limiters the overtake would take 3 times as long. I'm quite capable of driving thanks, having driven all over Europe and being yearly assessed thanks
To 'kawa7900' it was Barbara Castle who made the 70 mph (110 km/h) the permanent maximum speed limit for all roads and motorways 1967. Before this there was no maximum. Further more this was by a woman who didn't even drive! The oil crissis was 1973 time of the three day week and power cuts every other day, maybe it wa only once a week if we were lucky.
Yeh why is it that so many crashes are put down to speed ??????. yet no mention of the dim witts that slow down on motorways in the middle lane . or the tit that sits at 30 in a 60 . but wants to flash his lights when you pass .
we are going back wards , modern vehcles yet we are stuck at early 70`s speed limits when cars were lucky to do 70mph . Oh and before the 70 limit it was 80. but due to the oil crissis they reduced it . SPEED EARNS MONEY . Thats the goverments veiw .
why is that people thinks it ok to stay in the overtaking lane as long as there doing 70? with both the road ahead and central lane clear? you flash them and no response?
@londonrudeboy . You flash me if I am driving at 70 mph, and it will have no effect. Normally, I will pull in if see something coming behind me. But flashing me to let you through means I am aiding and abetting you to break the law. So, I am actually helping you.
@pitielbasani1 lol Ive just send you another comment then spotted this!!! lol, you don't have a clue, aiding and abetting? really? Well you better tell than to the officers Unmarked Police car that pointed its speed gun at me when I was doing 90 on the M5 last year as I didnt get a tug or a NIP. The 70mph speed limit and breaking distances were made up out of random figures. I wouldn't try driving like that that on the autobahn preventing people overtaking as you would soon get a large fine
@londonrudeboy your not a police officer and so shouldn't treat your unequipped vehicle as such! this would cause someone such as myself and millions of other people to undertake you which is a dangerous act to say the least but when both your left lanes are free why would your cause such danger? i choose to travel speeds safe to do so with certain vehicles i wouldn't speed in a vehicle or vicinity to which i think speed can harm. caravan and truck speeds should be kept for the appropriate lane
Today in my house on the phone when a car whizzed by the window and crashed into a tree, cause of crash was a yr old lady that had a heart attack, and all the time on tv "1 died in carcrash" and I think "idiots..." but when you SEE a car crash with your OWN eyes, you just dont want the person in the car to be dead, oh yeah and after that car crash one died in the car the OTHER died in hospital
@SIRlodgey It's not always about us trying to get past you car drivers going slow but to maintain our speed (velocity) Unless you've ever been in an artic you will not ever understand what it's like, losing 10mph in a car and then speeding up is not an issue but for a fully laden artic (44tonnes) that loss of 10mph from our top speed of 56mph is alot to get back upto, especially when on a slight incline. Give us some thought and more room on the roads please.
@Cheesylemon . I'm not a truck driver, but I agree with you. It can also be the same for a car driver, for example in Devon on the A38 where the A380 branches off at the bottom of Telegraph and Halden hills. You can almost guarantee that some idiot will change lanes at the last moment, causing you to lose speed. Even in a car regaining speed on those hills is almost impossible.
I bet it was caused by someone driving too slow rather than everyone else going too fast. In fog theres always someone that thinks 20mph is safe on a 70mph road!
Its not a 70mph road. 70 is the maximum when it is safe to do so. I'm always amazed at the number of people who think the fog is thick enough to use their rear fog lights, but are still doing 70.
@MrMatthewiball thats how they happen some without the confidence to drive in the conditions drives far too slowly. happens in the snow as well but hey what do I know about driving I do in 8-10 hours a day all over Europe and can drive every category of vehicle. if you cant drive in the conditions then pull over and let us that can get on with it.
@gbraae well if you are happy to get rear ended then sure but I would prefer to live and not run that risk. In the UK driving around 45 hours per week I have vary rarely seen visibility drop below 328ft which is when fog lights should be used. Most people have them on when they shouldnt, just because there is some fog which also casues the problem of not being able to see their brake lights.
@yourtuber1999 ok well try driving at 10mph on a UK motorway and see how many minutes it is before you get hit and probably killed, then you can ride your moral high horse from the grave. People over reacting to weather conditions causes chaos. But what do I know I only carry dangerous good all over the UK and Europe and have done all sorts of driving courses and am yearly assessed with assessment involving around 8 hours driving and have experience in all vehicle types
All going too fast for the conditions the police commander was correct, if you were involved in this collision regardless of what lane you were in you were either going to fast to close to the vehicle in front of you, if you got injured or car got wrecked you got what was coming to you
so your telling me if your the right distance away from the car infront ... and they came to a very very quick stop due to having an accident you would be able to stop in time? NO CHANCE!
i was involved in a 4 car crash on the M1 (september 2009) becuase 4 horses where on the motorway and i hit one at 70 MPH in complete darkness, my car came to a stop in less than half the distance it would when using breaks becuase the impact was so hard.
Glad to hear your are alright, speed is the factor in bad weather, people on the roads these days are stone mad, women as well the amount of times one has cut me up lately its crazy,
my lass says we are getting are own back on men.
I have been driving 17 years and have never seen drivers in such a hurry to get past me and cut right in front risking life and limb for me to be right behind them again at the lights.
It was all horrific, how my girlfriend and i survived we don't know but we did. We still don't know what caused the accident and we don't care as we walked out of our Clio somehow!!

The reason why the scania is so bad is because i was the car that it hit in the pile up... it bounced my car off the road and then went into the petrol tanker
