love my JERSEY SOUND and TONY HUMPHRIES, love my CHICAGO HOUSE, and NY HOUSE, and U.K. HOUSE, ETC.ETC. but i think a lot of people are no realizing that this is a disco record mixed by the late great WALTER GIBBONS in 1977 ! CLUB ZANZIBAR was not even opened yet. only the disco's that where around in 1977 where playing this at that time. any thing after 1977 is late for this record.
MAN MAN, whew!!!!! the zan's in newark, i used to catch the bus i had to be there, than after the bus did not run until 10am so me and the other house heads used to sleep in the port or on the bench, classic baby classic. the long lines of people who just wanted to lose there mind with tony humphries.
Can somebody please please post the long version of law and order from the love committee? The one posted here is whacked, skips, and un-downloadable.
@ELEBONYEMIR Let's include The Club House in Washington, D.C., Butter Milk Bottom. in New York City, in addition to other clubs in New York City. Bronx, New York City.
I know that's right ppl need to recognize what they have before its too late and this was from a guy because he realized how good a woman can be and don't need many other when one can do it all and for you if she is respected.. very GOOD SONG
Love this song. First heard it last year on this show called "Kiss club classics" on 98.7 Kiss FM. It was of course mixed up. This is the original. Sounds a bit different
You N.Y.C. clowns kill me! You didnt want it Frankie brought it to the Chi we perfected it and kept it alive then you wanted it back and added rap to it, now you want all the credit for your basterd child that you didnt want to raise. Chicago has every right to be the innovaters of house music. We still have that culture and our children and grandchildren are still jacking! Peace to Frankie Knuckles and the Late Great Ron Hardy!!!
Please believe Jersey started house music. Club Sensations 84-88, We danced from the time we walked in the door (Ladies free b4 11pm) until the time the lights came on at 5:45am! Black Box, Zanzibar, Eleganza & Docs. Aaaaaaaw! This song was & still is the Shiiiiiiiit.

@mmcarr910 ok, im gonna do you a favor and help you out. robert williams got frankie to open the warehouse in 1977, a full seven years from the clubs youre braggin about. 1632 michigan open in like what 82- 2 years before the clubs you mentioned. house tracks(beat tracks is a better term) were coming out by producers from 1981(3 years before) chip e time to jack and its house came out in 83(1 year before). get your facts right before braggin. nuff said. gnite yall.
@discomadness I HEAR YOU MAN! MOTHERFUCKERS ALWAYS TRYING CLAIM THEY CREATED HOUSE MUSIC ! IF IT'S NOT CRACKERS IN LONDON, OR SAN FRANSICO THEN IT'S NIGGERS IN BAILTOMORE CLAIMING THEY CREATED HOUSE! GET THE FUCK OUT OF HERE! NYC WILL TELL YOU IT WAS CREATED IN CHI-TOWN! GET OFF OUR SHIT! WHITE PEOPLE AINT GOT NO SCHAME ABOUT IT ! THEY HAVE CREATED NOTHING EVER! BUT ALWAYS ACTING LIKE THEY CREATED EVERYTHING!
@MrBudablue just recalling what ive seen with my own eyes. i realize when frankie got to do the warehouse, he was bringing what he knew from nyc. frankie says himself that the chicago scene brought him to where he is at today. one of my dj friends actually have an interview with ron hardy(dont know if hes going to release it). besides theres a plethora of djs who can account their experiences as well not just levan, knuckles and hardy(the three house muskateers). take care man.
@discomadness So what you trying to say NYC invented house ? I dont know about that shit! I can call few people who started this shit and see but frankie was not the originate of that here from what I heard !
@discomadness OK I just got off the phone with RickY Bradshaw, who been involved with this house shit from day,1he did the Liquid Baby EP a classic underground house EP and he said that #1 frankie is from chicago and yes he went to NYC spinning Disco at the gay clubs and he came back home to chicago! and they took the disco beatAND 808 or 909 and but electronic music over it and made house! He said that he will argue with Uall day about it, New York DID NOT INVENT HOUSE! DO YOU WANT HIS PHONE #?
@MrBudablue i think you got my words misconstrued. i was just saying the events ive seen with my own two eyes during the years described. there's also a bunch of djs /producers from chicago who can give their accounts as well. thats all im saying. lets clear the air and do what we gotta do. peace man.
@MrBudablue FRANKIE KNUCKLES was born in the BRONX N.Y. in 1955. worked @ the discotheque THE GALLERY , which was owned by NICKY SIANO in 1972.started djing in 1973 with LARRY LEVAN @ the discotheque ( slash bathhouse) THE CONTINENTAL BATHS which was opened in 1968. he also djed with LARRY @ the disco SOHO PLACE in 1976, all in N.Y.C. made his move to CHI TOWN in 1977 to dj @ the disco THE WAREHOUSE , which evently gave HOUSE MUSIC IT'S NAME.
An absolute monster of a record - its a record I've dedicated to my Wife Jo. There's never a record to sum everything up I love about music and everything I love about Jo....such a brilliant record.
This song is quite the rapier and even a slick reminder to my fellows indulging in cheating and infidelity. I thought it back in '77, and I still think it today.
This city funky jam here was one of my mega hits back in '77. Back then in Gotham, I pushed this one hard because of crowd demand from the folks in lower Manhatten. I was an easy 6 months ahead of the pack, dropping this song on "test pressing" 12" (2 copies), pressed hard. It still has that social and city funk in 2010, from the days of then.
Ronnie put this shit on the map!! All of you old house head remeber 1632 say no more. Ronnie and Mike Isabuku from Rioaltos put this shit down. Long live Ron Hardy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Man Chitown, there was a time I couldn't stand to hear this , anymore. I used to spin my ass off on that long break! Appreciate the different version posted here. I never heard this one, before.
This song is Sick. I just cant stop playing it. I know it was made in the 70's, but its almost like its ahead of its time b/c whats goin on now is no where near as funky, soulfull, and raw!

this is my first time hearing this song all the way through cause I always caught it in a mix this is one of the greatest deeeep house songs ever "2 DEEP PRODUTIONS" 4ever chicago!
First heard this on James Murphy and Pat Mahoney's compilation for Fabric... I think that got alot of ppl in my generation digging for beautiful old disco / italodisco...This is awesome. Thanks for uploading!
Holdmydrinkb: As a Dj speaking, you are absolutely correct. People are hungry and they are tired of the same cookie cutter sounds that so called "radio stations and record companies" are putting out. This music is timeless and will always have a place no matter what generation. The Underground will always have the last laugh...
Is it just me or is 70's disco music now on the rise. Its so pure and fresh in contrast to today. Its a world beat that everyone can groove with. Thats been missing for a while in music. Only really "In" People party to this. Its so underground!
Antemoye2, You aint neva lied. I can recall being in the upstairs portion of clubs in Newark back in the day and the floor would literally be jumping. Long live House
@Imaforce69 I remember being outside the Pleasure Dome in the winter time, they would open the windows cuz it got so hot insode and ou could hear the music outside and see all the hot air smoke comin out the windows.......................classic. Chitown Stand up!
Jersey started house. Dont let knowbody fool you. Word up. Baltimore club something completely different. Chicogo Club NO. House started and rocks Jersey even to this day. To those that dont know this joint here used to get the club jumpin hard. So hard you couldnt help but to move your body cause the floor literally shook you off your feet. Thats Jersey House.
You must be young. House music started in Chicago with Frankie and Ron. Chicago will always rule house music be it clubs, parties on the beach, or whatever. You don't know house music or the clubs unless you have experienced it in Chicago back in the day (80's & early 90's). By the way it's still going strong.
There's a real nice remix for this, can someone post it. This is ok, but when that joint pumps in the club it's a whole 'nother thang. Where's dat remix.......I'm feenin!
@05ymarie The music programming is from NY and the Tri-State. Franky was from Brooklyn and was imported to Chi with the sound that he was involved in in NY. The music was commonly just called Club music or cuts were named after the clubs, oh that's a Loft Cut, a Garage Cut, oh that's a Wherehouse Cut (which later was shorten to 'House). THe House moniker was popularized and lost it's original meaning. So yes the Term HOUSE is chicago, the music is from a scene developed in the ny tri-state
@skibbajehn what's so funny?? Where else could you drive 2 hrs. up the Parkway to Newark (Zanzibar) or New York or 1 hr. up the AC XWAY to Philly (Catacombs, etc.)AND pick up all their great radio(WDAS,WBLS,KISS,KTU) and Atlantic City was no joke back in the day either...an entire city block of very happenning gay clubs (open 24 hrs)...where else could you come out and walk up to the beach to cruise( I mean get some fresh air ! )
@dirtyedna THE ONE AND ONLY NEW JERSREY, IM FROM NEWARK, I MISSED AND ZANZ, SHANIQUE'S, DOLL HOUSE, AND THE DOCKS, THANKS TO UTUBE WE CAN STILL ENJOY THOSE MEMORABLE AND TIMELESS CLASSICS
@DoubleMM70 // Thats right, but now its enjoying its original title of Disco, even in Chicago...but if u get a real deep house head in a conversation, he/she will tell you its deep to us, lol ! Stony Island stand up.
Yes sir. I'm 40yrs old graduated from high school in 88. The fashion the cultural came straight out of Chicago.
Zodiac shoes Gurbaud jeans Zcavaricci Isometric haircuts, Big Baggy Bugle boys jeans rolled up at the bottoms. Paisley shirts Lotto gym shoes the original K swiss. Slam dancing at Medusa's on a Sunday night. We had Pioneers such as Frankie Knuckles and Larry Levan Ron Hardy Jesse Saunders tony Humphries and many more. But you best to believe CHICAGO IS IT!!
@DoubleMM70 MAN!! I KNOW you was in the thick of it, cuz I was too and thats all we used to talk about . Dont forget the Liz Claiborne shirts........they were BAD! and the little league beanie baseball caps with the brim turned up!! Wow you got some memories comin back to me now, remember the Pat-leather shoes, those went with the baggy pants and te "SILK"-gotta be silk, paisely shirt. Whooooo! Thats Chicago signature all over it. BTW CVS Clas of '87:)
@rsharrieff My aunt lived on 89th and Stiney and my other aunt on 79th and Evans about 3 blocks I think off Stoney. I lived on Clyde right off Jeffrey Blvd
@DoubleMM70 yeah to differentiate who want to just listen to beattracks(house) and who want to dance to disco songs( deep house). sometimes peepz would call a disco song deep house just because they dont know the name of said song. lol
@antmoye2 Jersey.....serious. Nice to dream. EVERYBODY know house started in The Chi. ........Except Jersey that is. Its all good I'm just jiving you. We got a love for the music , thats enough (no pun intended):)
@attaalib THE NAME "HOUSE", STARTED IN CHICAGO, BECAUSE IT WAS CREATED IN THE HOUSE OR BASEMENTS OF A HOUSE IN CHICAGO. IN NEW YORK AND NORTH JERSEY IT WAS CALLED CLUB OR KLUB, BECAUSE IT WAS PLAYED IN THE KLUBZ. IN THE MID 70'S IT WAS CALLED DISCO. THIS IS TRUE HISTORY FRANKIE "KNUCKLES", IS FROM NEW YORK ORIGINALLY HE DEPARTED WHEN HE WAS NOT SELECTED OVER LARRY LEVAN @ PARADISE GARAGE IN NYC. FACTS KNOW THE LEDGE KNOWLEDGE,
@DEZINE5 the term "HOUSE" as in house music was started in Chicago. but not because it was created in the house or basements of a house... the fact is that the music being played by Frankie knuckles at the club THE WAREHOUSE give house music it's tag. (house music, the warehouse/ garage music, paradise garage) and the term CLUB came in use around the late 80's for FREESTYLE MUSIC , before it was tagged as freestyle.
@antmoye2 house started in chicago.- not jerz, dude. its ok we got peepz in chicago saying theyve seen ron hardy at the box and theyre waaaay younger than me.
Come on katie you done it now! This is My favorite by Love Committee... I've been searching for this for years! I remember hearing this @ block-parties -wow so many memories. You managed to get it up here w/ excellent sound. Thanks.
4:40 it gets DEEP

You must be young. House music started in Chicago with Frankie and Ron. Chicago will always rule house music be it clubs, parties on the beach, or whatever. You don't know house music or the clubs unless you have experienced it in Chicago back in the day (80's & early 90's). By the way it's still going strong.

There's a real nice remix for this, can someone post it. This is ok, but when that joint pumps in the club it's a whole 'nother thang. Where's dat remix.......I'm feenin!
attaalib 2 years ago
@05ymarie The music programming is from NY and the Tri-State. Franky was from Brooklyn and was imported to Chi with the sound that he was involved in in NY. The music was commonly just called Club music or cuts were named after the clubs, oh that's a Loft Cut, a Garage Cut, oh that's a Wherehouse Cut (which later was shorten to 'House). THe House moniker was popularized and lost it's original meaning. So yes the Term HOUSE is chicago, the music is from a scene developed in the ny tri-state

Everybody had their groove back in the day, but CHI-Town put the stamp of approval on house.

@DoubleMM70 yeah to differentiate who want to just listen to beattracks(house) and who want to dance to disco songs( deep house). sometimes peepz would call a disco song deep house just because they dont know the name of said song. lol

FACTS KNOW THE LEDGE KNOWLEDGE,
DEZINE5 2 months ago
@DEZINE5 the term "HOUSE" as in house music was started in Chicago. but not because it was created in the house or basements of a house... the fact is that the music being played by Frankie knuckles at the club THE WAREHOUSE give house music it's tag. (house music, the warehouse/ garage music, paradise garage) and the term CLUB came in use around the late 80's for FREESTYLE MUSIC , before it was tagged as freestyle.
