I picked a couple up at a flea market, but bowling alleys will sometimes give them away for nothing. They're made from laminated Maple with a high-impact plastic coating, so they stand up really well to the pounding from heavy wood carving or chiselling. They have a void in the bottom that I add some lead to for weight and fill with casting resin.
