@TrejoChantae I was a little bit misleading with what I meant to say. There are certain apps in the market that allow to customize the LED for every app, although I do not use those apps I know some of them work. Personally, I use ChompSMS and it changes the notification light to whatever I want, which for some reason changes the color of other notifications I get automatically. For example, Twitter/Seesmic goes to blue, and all G-services are green.
how do u choose the light colors for notification lights??? ive owned this phone for a few months...never seen or been able to change this....id love that...plz let me know!!! ;D

@lingenfeltera Sorry for the delayed response. There are numerous solutions for turn-by-turn navigation on any Android device. Most carriers come with their own version of "TeleNav Your Navi Delux" preinstalled. The Electrify comes with this app. You can also use Google Navigation and Waze both for free. Google Navigation is my personal favorite and it's the most accurate, and I honestly haven't touch TeleNav since I got the phone lol. Good luck!

@Jjlabeck Cons: Moto's UI does become quite sluggish and choppy on the home screens after a few months of use. The phone is also quite old in the "tech world" and will soon be replaced by phones that are a lot better.
Personally, if I was due for an upgrade I would hold off as long as possible and try to grab a new 4G phone. The Samsung Aviator (Charge) is being released soon as a 4G device and already has a few better specs than the Electrify. I would definitely wait a few months.
@bluespicy1255 I just bought about 3 or 4 cases from eBay for about $3 each. My favorite or thin silicone cases because they're still very tough and safe. They're nice, cheap, and you don't have to worry about a case you don't like because you spent so little money. I searched Motorola Photon on eBay though, because it returns more results. Good luck!
There has been an offer launched by US Cellular through Valentines Day. Don't rush to buy though, another offer will be launched the day after Valentines Day. Good video.

@DynamiteKiwi There are two ways to put music on an Android device. One is by creating a "Music" folder in the root of the the phone's memory, and then dragging all of your music into that folder. Second is by installing DoubleTwist on your computer and Phone, and then wirelessly sync using AirSync!
Hey, did you figure out how to change the delay of the screen rotation? Mine takes like 3 or 4 seconds to rotate and I want it to be quicker than that
@Nubdiddy There is no setting to determine the amount of time that it takes for the screen to rotate. You may be able to do it if you root, and go through system files for a rotation delay...but that's very very risky and I'm not even sure if that's possible.
@tropicthunder110 Great! Make sure to go through all of the settings and do some tweaking. It takes time to get the launcher running perfect and smooth on different phones.
@bluespicy1255 And at 1:27, the widget that is used on top of part of the app called Beautiful Widgets in the Android Market which is also a paid app. It has about 8 different widgets to choose from and each widget has about 300 themes, so the possibilities are endless.
also at the 127 mark in the video the 4 icons tht u can pick on the bottom of ur home screen there differnt then ine when i first got the phone do u know how u changed the feature on tht?
@bluespicy1255 Do you mean the System Info Widget app from the market? It should only be about 30 seconds max, otherwise your market may have frozen so you can restart your phone and reopen the market to start the download again. The icons that are used are actually stock icons, but the arrangement and amount of icons is customizable through the home replacement app I'm using called ADW Launcher. You can search it on Google to find out what it does exactly.
@jjackson738 I haven't had issues with call waiting, and currently don't have another two phones to test with, but I'll ask someone later tonight to help me out and I'll get back to you.
@tropicthunder110 many apps have difficulty working with the kickstand, even some video apps. it may just block it from landscape compatibility with the kickstand for one reason or another.
i have a question wen u get to the 54 second mark and u show the fone on ur home screen u see a long icon tht has like ur battery life on it and other things i was wondering where do u go in settings to put tht up?
@bluespicy1255 That's actually a widget that is in the Android Market. Its called System Info Widget by Jason Calhoun for about a dollar. After you install it, you just hold anywhere on your home screen, go to Widgets, and scroll down to System Info Widget (4×1). That should be what you're looking for.
soooooo helpful!! definitely a great run-thru for people getting this phone. I watched it twice before deciding to get the electrify! loved the app reviews: definitely a highlight! makes this review stand out. thanks for mentioning the hd dock too.
@Jjlabeck Yep, I still use it everyday and I love it. I like the overall design and the size of the phone is perfect for me. I DO wish the battery life was a little better, but I can't really complain. Eventually every phone and OS will slow down just slightly as more and more data is collected and needs to be accessed, but it really is not noticeable.
dude this looks exactly like my Atrix, probably because it's from Motorola but still. i use ADW EX, GO Luncher EX, LauncherPro and my Default lol but my point is try the theme with go lanucher called Windows 7 GO lanucher EX theme it's sick. an maybe, this is just a suggestion but if you want to clear up your home screens try using Ultimate faves pro and CircleLauncher. i use 3 home pages and controlle my UFP app with a swipe up gesture. clears everything up also have you tried the Voice search?
@MegaHowHI Haha, crazy that I'm reading this today because I actually just got CircleLauncher a few days ago to clear up the clutter and move to about 3-4 home screens. I was beginning to get very annoyed with all of the swiping across the screens so folder usage is becoming perfect. I have to try that theme because I'm always looking for new looks and UIs to work with. I have no really gotten into Voice Search, what have you been using it for?
@iMagineThis1 hey, i now only use ADW EX because i payed for it the rest i deleted because they will eat up your data so i got rid of them. i also puffer the ADW EX over the rest i just wish you could choose the number of home screens because your stuck with 5 and i only need 2/3. if your using the CircleLauncher and UFP then well the other unused screens are sorta redundant. lol it's sorta frustrating because each home launcher has some fetcher you like that the other doesn't have
@MegaHowHI Nice! Good to hear how someone else sets up their phone. On ADW you can actually customize how many home screens you have by pressing menu>edit and then click the plus buttons to the left or right. You can also get rid by pressing the X. I don't often use Voice Search, but I do use "SpeakToIt Assistant" which is similar to Siri. I didn't know about the swipe up on Moto UI to see the home screens though, good to know. I used to use the little "Sense Like" home screen preview on ADW but
@iMagineThis1 i use the Voice Search...well not really for anything but say if you want to set your alarm on your phone, just bring it up by holing down your search on the touch capacitve key and say "set alarm for 6 AM" and a box with appear and hit set or you could repeat step one and then say "send a text to 'so and so' after saying the persons name, say your message and a text box will appear and you can hit send or cancel...
@iMagineThis1 just a little tip if you didn't know already. i found this out by accident but you know how HTC's and Samsung phones have that pinch to zoom gesture same on the dl UI's well wee have it also on our gingerbread. on the bottom in the white area just start there and swipe up and your 7 home screens will stack up like double tapping the home key.
@SnakeEyez777 I was a little unclear on that part. Certain apps allow you to change their color, and certain apps automatically dedicate a color for themselves by default. ChompSMS, an SMS replacement app, allows you to choose a certain color LED for each and every contact. And for example, Seesmic uses a deep blue by default for their Twitter updates but you cannot change this. There are some apps in the market that allow customization of each and every app, but I do not know which ones work.
@MakeupMagic06 My explanation is a little unclear in the video. Certain apps allow you to customize what color light is used for their notifications, although some use a different color by default. For example, ChompSMS which is an SMS replacement app, allows you to choose every color for every contact. Other apps such as Seesmic use Blue as a default color. Gmail uses green, etc. Hope that cleared things up a bit!
@iMagineThis1 oh! that helps! that's funny, i just recently downloaded the chompSMS app and was really happy with it. But the one thing that is annoying is that it won't send MMS messages, like you know if you send more than one page it turns into MMS? Well everytime i send one of those it comes back in a send failed message. Suggestions?
@MakeupMagic06 Yep! You can actually set it so that it sends multiple 140 char. messages instead of MMS. Just go into Chomp>Settings. Then go to "SMS & MMS Network" then Mobile Carrier Settings. Make sure that "I am on USA T-Mobile" is NOT checked, and that "CDMA Split" IS checked. Then go back on menu and go into "MMS Network Settings" and make sure "Auto-Retrieve" is NOT checked, Size Limit is at 1mb, and "Preserve Image Res" IS checked. That should fix all of your problems :)
@MakeupMagic06 You can keep "auto-retrieve" for MMS on if you'd like and it will automatically download your MMS messages, although i find it to be more reliable when it is off. More of personal preference on that setting really. Good luck!
I am on my second phone. Got the first one Nov 30 got the second on on Ded 16. Had to take it back because it will crash and reboot just about every other phone call I make or recieve. And the speaker is just awful about half the time. I love the phone's speed and apps. If I have to take it back the third time I will choose another phone. Just wondering if you have had any of these problems or know how to fix it. I have removed apps that came with the phone just so you know. Thanks.
@SaundraGW It's good that you removed many of the unnecessary bloatware, but the problem is more than likely (99% sure on this) that you are installing apps that are either not compatible with the Electrify, or contain malware. This could be unintentional of course, but always try to test each app and observe if the phone is acting up after using it. Most big name apps are no problem, but try to stay away from apps that have low downloads. Also, if you ever install any .APKs, that could cause
@SaundraGW an issue as well. My tip would be to clear the phone and look for an app that is causing this issue by using other system managing apps such as "SystemPanel" to find memory hogs. Also, an app that clears cache would be very useful for you as it is for me as well. Clear your cache everyday to keep your phone up to speed and without any lag. Hope that helped a little bit! :)
@iMagineThis1 Ok thanks for the help. Installing System Panel now and will let you know if it works. I really like this phone. Hopefully this app will let me keep it. Havn't installed my SD card because of the phone issue.
@SaundraGW You might need to look at the "help" section in the app to understand exactly what the app is telling you. I can't see why else more than one phone would be acting up unless it was due to a bad app :)
@iMagineThis1 Ok installed the app. Works great. I do understand it. Phone is still crashes after every other phone call. I have only installed like 7 apps since I got it and uninstalled a couple of those. I did unstall some that came with it , that I did not want. That is about it. Wonder if I unstalled to much... Still playing with it. Is there a factory reset?
@SaundraGW That's really weird. I would try to do a factory reset, then make a bunch of phone calls and use the phone for a few days without any market app or 3rd party app installations. See how that works. You can do a factory reset (which clears all data on internal, as well as apps) by going to the Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset
@iMagineThis1 Does the factory reset clear pics and videos that I have taken? I will try in a couple days, getting busy with Christmas right now. Thank you so much for your help. Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas!! Will reply back in a few days.
@SaundraGW I think there is actually an option for clearing all of your media as well, but I would always back it all up on a computer anyway just in case it does clear it. I usually like clearing everything even if there is an option not to, and then just restoring it first thing after initial boot. No problem, you have a Merry Christmas yourself, enjoy!
@iMagineThis1 Hey. Sorry just getting back to you. Wanted to let you know that I still have the phone, love it. I have had to do some factory resets a couple of times. And I can so them without deleting my media. Had a bad app and some bad updates that messed up the phone. Figured out which ones and of course the kids clicking on some bad links did not help. But all is well now and plan on keeping this phone for some time. Thank you again for the tips and help.
@SaundraGW No problem, glad I helped. It's good that you're finding those bad apps. There are a few out there in the market that just are not compatible with certain phones and could cause a whole lot of lag and crashes.
@zebrahattack Sorry for the late response. I set custom text tones for people with the app ChompSMS which is just a text messaging app replacement. It's a lot smoother, faster, more customizable, and overall better than the stock Motorola Messaging app. There does not seem to be a way to set custom text ringtones for different contacts within the stock app. Hope this helps a bit!
@TurboSwag23 DeviantArt is a website that has a lot of high quality wallpapers and art work for users to download. Also Zedge is another website that is great for downloading things for mobile devices. Check out their website for certain resolutions and phone specific media!
@JAC0BY27 I may be a little misleading in this video, what I meant to say was that many apps seem to have a dedicated notification color. BUT some apps do actually allow you to pick the color of the lights for their specific app. There are also apps in the market that claim to change for every single app, but I have no tested those. For example, ChompSMS allows you to change to pink, red, green, blue, aqua, and white. GMail I've noticed uses green, Seesmic (Twitter) blue, and default is aqua.
@babyurafireworkx If you have an HTC phone already and are looking for a change, than the Electrify is quite the change. You'll notice a huge speed increase in all apps, and obviously the screen size and internal storage will also be a big factor as well. Hope I helped a little bit!
@babyurafireworkx It's very difficult to say! If you're all about the way the phone's interface looks and how clean it is...then definitely go with the Hero because of Sense UI. The Electrify is all about raw power and hardware, but if you're not absolutely obsessed with specs, then you really won't notice a difference between the two speed wise anyway! :) Both have pretty fantastic picture quality, although I've read many people say that Electrify is a bit better. I agree with that as well.
I got this phone and everytime I use the stock text app and text in landscape it lags so bad, but on anything else it types just fine with landscape oh and also if I text in portrait it works fine too. Is your's doing this too :/ or do you think I should take it back and talk to us cellular about it?
@sladeyy Sorry for the late response! But I know exactly what you're talking about. The portrait kb is often very smooth on pretty much every app, and on many apps the landscape kb is very laggy. i find this to be true with many different apps, so it is not just your phone. my solution to this would be to use the chompSMS replacement app for messaging. I've tested it and use it every day with no lag in either portrait nor landscape view.
@bhenry317 I don't have a preference to be completely honest. I love HTC Sense UI on the Merge which is a lot more user friendly than the Motorola UI, but the Electrify has such powerful hardware in comparison that it's hard for me to completely ignore the Electrify. It's all about what fits you best and what you use it for on a daily basis.
I am thinking about getting this phone! I what to put music on it and have ringtones for my SMS Calls ect. but the phone I have now you can't do it. So can you on this phone and if so what is a good APP. and lastly what are good apps to have in general? I mainly am on twitter. And what is a good launch APP that allows you to really customize your phone?
@247MuzikFreak You can certainly set custom ringtones, as well as individual ringtones through the settings! Also, you can set any notification/SMS ringtone as well. Music can be easily synced using "DoubleTwist" on Mac or PC. It basically grabs all your music from iTunes and syncs it with Android, and acts just like iTunes would. The best music app, in my opinion, is just the official Google Music app in the market (Pandora, TuneIn for streaming music). Seesmic is the best Twitter app, by far.
@247MuzikFreak It gives you a few more options than the official Twitter app, and runs a lot smoother. ADW Launcher EX is the best home replacement app for the Electrify and lets you customize very heavily. All of the other launchers seem to have a little bit of a lag when dealing with many icons or widgets. Hope that all helped a little bit!
@LaurenHelene I'm using the "Ice Cream Sandwich" theme for ADW. The "N3xGen Theme" app in the market is a great tool to find themes for almost every launcher. The app at 4:55 is a paid app called "SystemPanel App / Task Manager". There is also a Lite version of this app which pretty much does the exact same thing. Hope this helped out a bit!
I actually love this phone but the only thing i cant seem to figure out is how to take off the shutter sound from the camera if thats even possible. Can you help?
Thanks for taking your time to reply! Got a Motorola Electrify the day before Thanksgiving and I love it! Battery life could be better, but I'm still satisfied!
@ooopeiceofcandi Anytime! Use the battery saver option in the settings for better battery life, but MORE IMPORTANTLY go to the market and download Data Enabler Widget by "farpoc". Put the widget on your home screen and use it to turn off Mobile Data when you're not using the phone. You can easily double your phone's battery life if you turn off Data when you don't need it :)
@SuperPoof23 The clock is actually a widget in the market, and it's called "Beautiful Widgets". You can change the theme and setup to make it look however you'd like :) Also, all of the home screens are actually a home replacement app called ADW Launcher EX. You'll have to look into a little bit, but basically it allows customization of pretty much everything including the dock. Hope that helps a little bit!
Thanks for the video man. I was wondering if you could compare this to the HTC Hero S. I'm a fan of HTC Sense over Motoblur, but I would probably use Go Launcher on either device. I love the hardware specs on the Electrify, but it just seems bulkier than the Hero S. In a perfect world, I'd have the specs of the Electrify on the Hero S, but I've got to choose. What do you think?
@humanrefutation No problem, glad you enjoyed it. Sadly, I won't be able to do side-by-side comparisons of the Hero S and Electrify due to USCC being very strict on releasing demo/review units. I've contacted them a few times with no luck. I agree, Sense UI is gorgeous and a lot more appealing than any Moto UI. Moto should just load stock Android IMO. It seems like you know your home replacement launchers, so personally, I would go with the Electrify. If you're loading a replacement launcher
@humanrefutation then you might as well go with whatever has the better specs and the bigger screen. HTC phones DO have a great reputation of having zero lag in their UIs though (I noticed myself even on the older Desire). Sounds a little bit lame, but it may be in your best interest to make a pro and con list for both phones and literally choose that way. If the most important aspects of phones outweigh the not so important cons, go with that phone. Hope that helps a little!
@iMagineThis1 Thanks for the quick reply and info. It's really helpful. I was wondering though whether it made a difference if you loaded a launcher on Sense or on a Moto UI? Like, if I used Go Launcher on a Sense device, would that allow me to use Sense widgets with the Launcher or have a Sense-like feel to the phone? I guess I'm asking because if not, then it wouldn't make a difference what the UI was if I used a launcher, and would push me towards the Electrify.
@humanrefutation No problem. You WILL notice only some of the UI from Moto or Sense throughout the rom. For example, the settings on new Moto UIs are white and on Sense they are black. Other than that, the menu button brings up white menus on both so that is identical. The accents on Moto UI are a light blue color, and on Sense they are green. I can't think of many other differences. You can't use Sense Widgets on other launchers, but Moto Widgets you can.
@iMagineThis1 Thanks for the information and for your quick responses! I'm leaning towards an Electrify, but will do a bit more research. I hope your phone treats you well!
have you had any troubles recieving your texts? Like have you recieved any like an hour late or a day late? I don't have this phone YET but i want to purchase it. Friends with smart phones and stuff have been having that problem.
@ooopeiceofcandi There has only been one occasion that I can recall of this happening in the past 2 months that I've had this phone. Although I did end up receiving it about a day late. It doesn't have anything to do with the phones in particular, I think it's just that smart phone users tend to send so many more SMS messages than the average user that you end up running into this problem once in a long while. Hope that helped!
Hey man, I was wondering if you think this phone is worth getting over the Hero S, I am not really particular on what UI the phone runs on at all, and i just want something to last me a year and a half. If you could help me out that would be awesome. Thanks!
@KPrellwitz I'm glad you mentioned that you aren't too hung up on the UI. If that's the case, the Electrify would be the winner because of hardware specs and the huge screen size. The quality of the screen may be slightly nicer looking when it comes to colors on the Hero S because it lacks pentile technology, but you won't be disappointed with the Electrify as well. You may get a slightly longer battery life from the Hero S, but not too much longer. Hope that helps out a little bit, good luck!
@tuckertommy70 My suggestions would be to go to your Settings>Accounts and click on the gmail that is not syncing. If you haven't tried yet, try removing the account while connected to WiFi, then turn WiFi off and let 3G run for a few minutes, then re-add the gmail account with 3G. If this doesn't work, you can uncheck and recheck all of the categories to sync. If that doesn't work, you may need to add a widget like "Extended Controls" and make a "Auto-Sync" widget. Then make sure it is on.
@thatsadkid Haha, that's understandable! Haven't gotten my hands on the Hero S yet, but I'm sure it's a hell of a phone. I definitely prefer the Sense UI to the Motorola UI that's for sure.
now are you getting those problems that everyone else is having with the videos and it being slow and glitching like you said ppl were having in your video or is it still pretty good and all?!
@wisballa1 My HD video recording on the Electrify is still flawless. I tried to recreate the glitchy/skipping frames problem that I have seen from about three people, but I have not been able to get it to happen. Even after opening almost 20 apps, the video doesn't seem to want to skip for me and records perfectly. My guess is that there is just a bad app out there that some people may have, or a task killer that is interfering with the camera app. So yes the camera for me has had zero problems.
@iMagineThis1 i was going between this and the htc hero s. ive had the desire for the past yearish so im gonna give motorola a try. switch it up a bit!
@wisballa1 Awesome, and you always have those 30 days so if the phone isn't for you, then you always have the Hero S or maybe another device around black friday that you can switch to.
@iMagineThis1 yeah man, thats a good point!!! well keep making updates on this phone bro and ill keep watching em! hahaha and if you do get any glitches or problems throw em up here so i can see. i havent gotten it yet so i still got some time! hahaha
Hey Dude, I am local Chicago,IL (GO BULLS) :-) anyways...can you commend on the picture quality at all? Grainy? Are they sharp at all? alot of things i have been reading are saying it sucks....now in general i give people the benefit of the doubt but now a days i know some people who have no clue on how to work a regular camera let alone a phone camera.
@djspiel ((GO BULLS!!)) ... THANK YOU for that comment about the camera. Finally, someone that understands this is not a DSLR camera. The photos are sharp, yes, and actually not too noisy/grainy in low light (with flash of course). W/O a flash, the pictures become somewhat noisy but I feel like that's a given in low light for any phone camera. I'll post some pictures later today if you'd be interested and send you a link to show you how it performs.
hey man, so i take it before this phone you prolly had the htc desire, i have that right now and really wanna upgrade ASAP!!! i love htc but the desire just doesnt trip my trigger. i ALWAYS have the stupid "your phone is low on storage" message so i only have about 5 apps that I was able to download. now ive had htc ever since its been with usc. changing from htc to motorola, is it a big difference?
@wisballa1 It'll be a pretty significant difference for about the first 2-3 days you have the phone, because the UI is pretty different. BUT it is still Android, so you'll get used to it pretty quickly. If you really do enjoy the Sense UI then definitely take a look at the Hero S. You won't get the "low on memory" message until after hundreds of apps, and it has a bigger screen than the Desire. If you love processing power/very large screens then you should look at the Electrify. Hope that helps
where can i get that wallpaper of D. Rose?

I heard you say something about color change with the apps in the notification bar or something like that. How does that work?
TrejoChantae 2 weeks ago
@TrejoChantae I was a little bit misleading with what I meant to say. There are certain apps in the market that allow to customize the LED for every app, although I do not use those apps I know some of them work. Personally, I use ChompSMS and it changes the notification light to whatever I want, which for some reason changes the color of other notifications I get automatically. For example, Twitter/Seesmic goes to blue, and all G-services are green.

How does the turn-by-turn navigation work for this phone? How does it work for most android devices on US Cellular?
lingenfeltera 2 weeks ago
@lingenfeltera Sorry for the delayed response. There are numerous solutions for turn-by-turn navigation on any Android device. Most carriers come with their own version of "TeleNav Your Navi Delux" preinstalled. The Electrify comes with this app. You can also use Google Navigation and Waze both for free. Google Navigation is my personal favorite and it's the most accurate, and I honestly haven't touch TeleNav since I got the phone lol. Good luck!

what are the cons of this phone? and would ou suggeat getting this phone or waiting for the 4g phonea
Jjlabeck 3 weeks ago
@Jjlabeck Cons: Moto's UI does become quite sluggish and choppy on the home screens after a few months of use. The phone is also quite old in the "tech world" and will soon be replaced by phones that are a lot better.
Personally, if I was due for an upgrade I would hold off as long as possible and try to grab a new 4G phone. The Samsung Aviator (Charge) is being released soon as a 4G device and already has a few better specs than the Electrify. I would definitely wait a few months.

You said you can customize the LED notification....how?
solesified86 1 month ago
@solesified86 I was a little bit misleading with what I meant to say. There are certain apps in the market that allow to customize the LED for every app, although I do not use those apps I know some of them work. Personally, I use ChompSMS and it changes the notification light to whatever I want, which for some reason changes the color of other notifications I get automatically. For example, Twitter/Seesmic goes to blue, and all G-services are green.

how do i put music on it?
DynamiteKiwi 1 month ago
@DynamiteKiwi There are two ways to put music on an Android device. One is by creating a "Music" folder in the root of the the phone's memory, and then dragging all of your music into that folder. Second is by installing DoubleTwist on your computer and Phone, and then wirelessly sync using AirSync!

bluespicy1255 1 month ago
Hey, did you figure out how to change the delay of the screen rotation? Mine takes like 3 or 4 seconds to rotate and I want it to be quicker than that
Nubdiddy 1 month ago
@Nubdiddy There is no setting to determine the amount of time that it takes for the screen to rotate. You may be able to do it if you root, and go through system files for a rotation delay...but that's very very risky and I'm not even sure if that's possible.

and the time on the top of ur home screen? where in the settings do u go to put tht up
bluespicy1255 1 month ago
@bluespicy1255 And at 1:27, the widget that is used on top of part of the app called Beautiful Widgets in the Android Market which is also a paid app. It has about 8 different widgets to choose from and each widget has about 300 themes, so the possibilities are endless.
iMagineThis1 1 month ago
also at the 127 mark in the video the 4 icons tht u can pick on the bottom of ur home screen there differnt then ine when i first got the phone do u know how u changed the feature on tht?
bluespicy1255 1 month ago
also just one quick question do u know how long it takes to download? becuase ive been downloading it for the last 30 mins and nothing has happen?
bluespicy1255 1 month ago
@bluespicy1255 Do you mean the System Info Widget app from the market? It should only be about 30 seconds max, otherwise your market may have frozen so you can restart your phone and reopen the market to start the download again. The icons that are used are actually stock icons, but the arrangement and amount of icons is customizable through the home replacement app I'm using called ADW Launcher. You can search it on Google to find out what it does exactly.

bluespicy1255 1 month ago
@bluespicy1255 That's actually a widget that is in the Android Market. Its called System Info Widget by Jason Calhoun for about a dollar. After you install it, you just hold anywhere on your home screen, go to Widgets, and scroll down to System Info Widget (4×1). That should be what you're looking for.

@Jjlabeck Yep, I still use it everyday and I love it. I like the overall design and the size of the phone is perfect for me. I DO wish the battery life was a little better, but I can't really complain. dude this looks exactly like my Atrix, probably because it's from Motorola but still. i use ADW EX, GO Luncher EX, LauncherPro and my Default lol but my point is try the theme with go lanucher called Windows 7 GO lanucher EX theme it's sick. an maybe, this is just a suggestion but if you want to clear up your home screens try using Ultimate faves pro and CircleLauncher. i use 3 home pages and controlle my UFP app with a swipe up gesture. clears everything up also have you tried the Voice search?
MegaHowHI 2 months ago
@MegaHowHI Haha, crazy that I'm reading this today because I actually just got CircleLauncher a few days ago to clear up the clutter and move to about 3-4 home screens. I was beginning to get very annoyed with all of the swiping across the screens so folder usage is becoming perfect. I have to try that theme because I'm always looking for new looks and UIs to work with. I have no really gotten into Voice Search, what have you been using it for?
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 hey, i now only use ADW EX because i payed for it the rest i deleted because they will eat up your data so i got rid of them. i also puffer the ADW EX over the rest i just wish you could choose the number of home screens because your stuck with 5 and i only need 2/3. if your using the CircleLauncher and UFP then well the other unused screens are sorta redundant. lol it's sorta frustrating because each home launcher has some fetcher you like that the other doesn't have
MegaHowHI 1 month ago
@MegaHowHI Nice! Good to hear how someone else sets up their phone. On ADW you can actually customize how many home screens you have by pressing menu>edit and then click the plus buttons to the left or right. You can also get rid by pressing the X. I don't often use Voice Search, but I do use "SpeakToIt Assistant" which is similar to Siri. I didn't know about the swipe up on Moto UI to see the home screens though, good to know. I used to use the little "Sense Like" home screen preview on ADW but
iMagineThis1 1 month ago
@MegaHowHI kind of got sick of it because I literally never used it lol, love ADW though.
iMagineThis1 1 month ago
@iMagineThis1 i use the Voice Search...well not really for anything but say if you want to set your alarm on your phone, just bring it up by holing down your search on the touch capacitve key and say "set alarm for 6 AM" and a box with appear and hit set or you could repeat step one and then say "send a text to 'so and so' after saying the persons name, say your message and a text box will appear and you can hit send or cancel...
MegaHowHI 1 month ago
@iMagineThis1 just a little tip if you didn't know already. i found this out by accident but you know how HTC's and Samsung phones have that pinch to zoom gesture same on the dl UI's well wee have it also on our gingerbread. on the bottom in the white area just start there and swipe up and your 7 home screens will stack up like double tapping the home key.

How do you customize your different color led notification lights????
SnakeEyez777 2 months ago
@SnakeEyez777 I was a little unclear on that part. Certain apps allow you to change their color, and certain apps automatically dedicate a color for themselves by default. ChompSMS, an SMS replacement app, allows you to choose a certain color LED for each and every contact. And for example, Seesmic uses a deep blue by default for their Twitter updates but you cannot change this. There are some apps in the market that allow customization of each and every app, but I do not know which ones work.

how do you use/customize the notification lights?
MakeupMagic06 2 months ago
@MakeupMagic06 My explanation is a little unclear in the video. Certain apps allow you to customize what color light is used for their notifications, although some use a different color by default. For example, ChompSMS which is an SMS replacement app, allows you to choose every color for every contact. Other apps such as Seesmic use Blue as a default color. Gmail uses green, etc. Hope that cleared things up a bit!
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 oh! that helps! that's funny, i just recently downloaded the chompSMS app and was really happy with it. But the one thing that is annoying is that it won't send MMS messages, like you know if you send more than one page it turns into MMS? Well everytime i send one of those it comes back in a send failed message. Suggestions?
MakeupMagic06 2 months ago
@MakeupMagic06 Yep! You can actually set it so that it sends multiple 140 char. messages instead of MMS. Just go into Chomp>Settings. Then go to "SMS & MMS Network" then Mobile Carrier Settings. Make sure that "I am on USA T-Mobile" is NOT checked, and that "CDMA Split" IS checked. Then go back on menu and go into "MMS Network Settings" and make sure "Auto-Retrieve" is NOT checked, Size Limit is at 1mb, and "Preserve Image Res" IS checked. That should fix all of your problems :)
iMagineThis1 2 months ago

Thanks.
SaundraGW 2 months ago
@SaundraGW It's good that you removed many of the unnecessary bloatware, but the problem is more than likely (99% sure on this) that you are installing apps that are either not compatible with the Electrify, or contain malware. This could be unintentional of course, but always try to test each app and observe if the phone is acting up after using it. Most big name apps are no problem, but try to stay away from apps that have low downloads. Also, if you ever install any .APKs, that could cause
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@SaundraGW an issue as well. My tip would be to clear the phone and look for an app that is causing this issue by using other system managing apps such as "SystemPanel" to find memory hogs. Also, an app that clears cache would be very useful for you as it is for me as well. Clear your cache everyday to keep your phone up to speed and without any lag. Hope that helped a little bit! :)
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 Ok thanks for the help. Installing System Panel now and will let you know if it works. I really like this phone. Hopefully this app will let me keep it. Havn't installed my SD card because of the phone issue.
SaundraGW 2 months ago in playlist Liked videos
@SaundraGW You might need to look at the "help" section in the app to understand exactly what the app is telling you. I can't see why else more than one phone would be acting up unless it was due to a bad app :)
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 Ok installed the app. Works great. I do understand it. Phone is still crashes after every other phone call. I have only installed like 7 apps since I got it and uninstalled a couple of those. I did unstall some that came with it , that I did not want. That is about it. Wonder if I unstalled to much... Still playing with it. Is there a factory reset?
SaundraGW 2 months ago
@SaundraGW That's really weird. I would try to do a factory reset, then make a bunch of phone calls and use the phone for a few days without any market app or 3rd party app installations. See how that works. You can do a factory reset (which clears all data on internal, as well as apps) by going to the Settings>Privacy>Factory Data Reset
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 Does the factory reset clear pics and videos that I have taken? I will try in a couple days, getting busy with Christmas right now. Thank you so much for your help. Hope you have a Very Merry Christmas!! Will reply back in a few days.
SaundraGW 2 months ago
@SaundraGW I think there is actually an option for clearing all of your media as well, but I would always back it all up on a computer anyway just in case it does clear it. I usually like clearing everything even if there is an option not to, and then just restoring it first thing after initial boot. No problem, you have a Merry Christmas yourself, enjoy!
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@iMagineThis1 Hey. Sorry just getting back to you. Wanted to let you know that I still have the phone, love it. I have had to do some factory resets a couple of times. And I can so them without deleting my media. Had a bad app and some bad updates that messed up the phone. Figured out which ones and of course the kids clicking on some bad links did not help. But all is well now and plan on keeping this phone for some time. Thank you again for the tips and help.
SaundraGW 1 month ago
@SaundraGW No problem, glad I helped. It's good that you're finding those bad apps. There are a few out there in the market that just are not compatible with certain phones and could cause a whole lot of lag and crashes.

how do i set custom text tones for different people?
zebrahattack 2 months ago
@zebrahattack Sorry for the late response. I set custom text tones for people with the app ChompSMS which is just a text messaging app replacement. It's a lot smoother, faster, more customizable, and overall better than the stock Motorola Messaging app. There does not seem to be a way to set custom text ringtones for different contacts within the stock app. Hope this helps a bit!

@iMagineThis I just got this phone today how do you change the colors of the notification light?
JAC0BY27 2 months ago
@JAC0BY27 I may be a little misleading in this video, what I meant to say was that many apps seem to have a dedicated notification color. BUT some apps do actually allow you to pick the color of the lights for their specific app. There are also apps in the market that claim to change for every single app, but I have no tested those. For example, ChompSMS allows you to change to pink, red, green, blue, aqua, and white. GMail I've noticed uses green, Seesmic (Twitter) blue, and default is aqua.

babyurafireworkx 2 months ago
@babyurafireworkx & i have the HTC desire and its just getting boring and its nothing special anymore
babyurafireworkx 2 months ago
@babyurafireworkx If you have an HTC phone already and are looking for a change, than the Electrify is quite the change. You'll notice a huge speed increase in all apps, and obviously the screen size and internal storage will also be a big factor as well. Hope I helped a little bit!
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@babyurafireworkx It's very difficult to say! If you're all about the way the phone's interface looks and how clean it is...then definitely go with the Hero because of Sense UI. The Electrify is all about raw power and hardware, but if you're not absolutely obsessed with specs, then you really won't notice a difference between the two speed wise anyway! :) Both have pretty fantastic picture quality, although I've read many people say that Electrify is a bit better. I agree with that as well.
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
I got this phone and everytime I use the stock text app and text in landscape it lags so bad, but on anything else it types just fine with landscape oh and also if I text in portrait it works fine too. Is your's doing this too :/ or do you think I should take it back and talk to us cellular about it?
sladeyy 2 months ago
@sladeyy Sorry for the late response! But I know exactly what you're talking about. The portrait kb is often very smooth on pretty much every app, and on many apps the landscape kb is very laggy. i find this to be true with many different apps, so it is not just your phone. my solution to this would be to use the chompSMS replacement app for messaging. I've tested it and use it every day with no lag in either portrait nor landscape view.
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
Do you think the Electrify is better than the HTC Merge?
bhenry317 2 months ago

247MuzikFreak 2 months ago
@247MuzikFreak You can certainly set custom ringtones, as well as individual ringtones through the settings! Also, you can set any notification/SMS ringtone as well. Music can be easily synced using "DoubleTwist" on Mac or PC. It basically grabs all your music from iTunes and syncs it with Android, and acts just like iTunes would. The best music app, in my opinion, is just the official Google Music app in the market (Pandora, TuneIn for streaming music). Seesmic is the best Twitter app, by far.
iMagineThis1 2 months ago
@247MuzikFreak It gives you a few more options than the official Twitter app, and runs a lot smoother. ADW Launcher EX is the best home replacement app for the Electrify and lets you customize very heavily. All of the other launchers seem to have a little bit of a lag when dealing with many icons or widgets. Hope that all helped a little bit!
iMagineThis1 2 months ago

what adw launcher theme do you have. and what is the name of the app where you can check your memory. you were talking about it around 4:55
LaurenHelene 3 months ago
@LaurenHelene I'm using the "Ice Cream Sandwich" theme for ADW. The "N3xGen Theme" app in the market is a great tool to find themes for almost every launcher. The app at 4:55 is a paid app called "SystemPanel App / Task Manager". There is also a Lite version of this app which pretty much does the exact same thing. Hope this helped out a bit!

SuperPoof23 3 months ago
@SuperPoof23 The clock is actually a widget in the market, and it's called "Beautiful Widgets". You can change the theme and setup to make it look however you'd like :) Also, all of the home screens are actually a home replacement app called ADW Launcher EX. You'll have to look into a little bit, but basically it allows customization of pretty much everything including the dock. Hope that helps a little bit!

@PraiseSource Thank you, and thanks for the suggestion. I love cases I'll definitely check those out!

What do you think?
humanrefutation 3 months ago
@humanrefutation No problem, glad you enjoyed it. Sadly, I won't be able to do side-by-side comparisons of the Hero S and Electrify due to USCC being very strict on releasing demo/review units. I've contacted them a few times with no luck. I agree, Sense UI is gorgeous and a lot more appealing than any Moto UI. Moto should just load stock Android IMO. It seems like you know your home replacement launchers, so personally, I would go with the Electrify. If you're loading a replacement launcher
iMagineThis1 3 months ago
@humanrefutation then you might as well go with whatever has the better specs and the bigger screen. HTC phones DO have a great reputation of having zero lag in their UIs though (I noticed myself even on the older Desire). Sounds a little bit lame, but it may be in your best interest to make a pro and con list for both phones and literally choose that way. If the most important aspects of phones outweigh the not so important cons, go with that phone. Hope that helps a little!
iMagineThis1 3 months ago
@iMagineThis1 Thanks for the quick reply and info. It's really helpful. I was wondering though whether it made a difference if you loaded a launcher on Sense or on a Moto UI? Like, if I used Go Launcher on a Sense device, would that allow me to use Sense widgets with the Launcher or have a Sense-like feel to the phone? I guess I'm asking because if not, then it wouldn't make a difference what the UI was if I used a launcher, and would push me towards the Electrify.
humanrefutation 3 months ago

Friends with smart phones and stuff have been having that problem.
ooopeiceofcandi 3 months ago
@ooopeiceofcandi There has only been one occasion that I can recall of this happening in the past 2 months that I've had this phone. Although I did end up receiving it about a day late. It doesn't have anything to do with the phones in particular, I think it's just that smart phone users tend to send so many more SMS messages than the average user that you end up running into this problem once in a long while. Hope that helped!

KPrellwitz 3 months ago
@KPrellwitz I'm glad you mentioned that you aren't too hung up on the UI. If that's the case, the Electrify would be the winner because of hardware specs and the huge screen size. The quality of the screen may be slightly nicer looking when it comes to colors on the Hero S because it lacks pentile technology, but you won't be disappointed with the Electrify as well. You may get a slightly longer battery life from the Hero S, but not too much longer. Hope that helps out a little bit, good luck!

My gmail account has stopped auto sync have tried everything, can you help?
tuckertommy70 4 months ago
@tuckertommy70 My suggestions would be to go to your Settings>Accounts and click on the gmail that is not syncing. If you haven't tried yet, try removing the account while connected to WiFi, then turn WiFi off and let 3G run for a few minutes, then re-add the gmail account with 3G. If this doesn't work, you can uncheck and recheck all of the categories to sync. If that doesn't work, you may need to add a widget like "Extended Controls" and make a "Auto-Sync" widget. Then make sure it is on.
