  • Starforce! Thanks for the good words!

Here's another tidbit. Alan Rubin, Mr Fabulous of Blues Brothers fame plays the trumpet on this! Enjoy.

  • Hi, it's Murray Weinstock of Lovenotes Music and Dogtunes.com and I was given the very cool assignment to write and produce the music for this commercial. I decided to draw on my favorite influences, including Star Trek and David Bowie!!! It's fun to see and hear it again. I am both the top voices and the low voices. No mechanical auto-tuning had been invented at that time so I planned the key based on my lowest note! There are some cool versions in French for Canada, also!!! GLOWWWWW!

  • @murraywan Wow, thanks Murray! The music is awesome. Thank you for providing a little historical context.

  • @murraywan Bowie!? What??? What era Bowie was this?!

  • Commercial, that is.

  • I don't even remember this ad but this is my favourite commerical song ever.

  • this brings back so many memories for me, Construx were my favorite toy, besides Legos, when I was a kid, I still have most of them too, talk about a time warp. how many peoples Lego collections started with the free sets you got in happy meals? raise your hands.

  • That starforce set was so awesome, especially when it glowed in the dard. I loved Construx when I was a kid. :-D

  • HOORAY!!

  • that kid you called a nerd i bet can kick the shit out of you now stupid...so shut your face

  • LOL.that one afro kid is such a nerd

  • I used to just love the first 6 seconds of synth at the beginning. Although for some reason, I remember it being longer.

  • i had a big orange case full of diffrent sets of construx. LOVED UM. I dont remember the theme song sucking so badly though. I mean wow.

  • OMG i got those for christmas when i was 7. I absolutely loved that toy

  • Al Franken was adorable as a child. :-)

  • *tear* Man I had one of these. I used to put it in my closet at night because the glowing would creep me out

  • I love construx! Those days were so much better.

  • i must have built about a 1,001 different sets with these things, most of them being my own concept.... ah the memories lol

  • I loved these things....Still do...

  • These things, despite the cheesyness, are in my opinion one of the greatest building toys of all time. So great, in fact, I just bought some more on ebay.

  • I remember these Construx commercials. My favorite sets were the original ones with the detachable Construx Man. I had the truck with helicopter set & my brother had the bridge, spaceship & forklift sets. I remember seeing a big plane set once and never saw that one again. Must be very rare.

  • That was so damn cheesy it was AWESOME! I have some of those, but just the astronauts, no aliens. And a HELL of a lot of other peices.

  • That was so cheesy it was good.

  • Possibly the best toy jingle of 84/85. Thanks!

  • Totally agree with you. I love that synthesizer, and the voices - so dated and wonderful.

  • I remember that "sold separatley" sound. Funny how it dubs-over the song.

  • I don't recall this one. Must have came out the year after I got Construx. I remember the Fall 1984 commerical - Construx was a Christmas gift that year. Wish I still had them.

  • I think I still have the alien and the starforce guy in my basement.

  • I remember this commercial.
