  • My nationality is made up of sime of the worlds greatest historical warriors. My mother is descended from a samurai who fought in the Meiji restoration, and a cherokee warrior. My father, great grandson of a famed british duelist, and along the line the blood diverged into nordic raiders (vikings) and celtic nomads, and at one point a germanuc nomad, (they produced the term "berserker") This song makes me think of this often. I'm proud. I dont even know why it reminds me, but I'm glad Emelie it.

  • Needs remastering. There's a great song hidden somewhere beneath the terrible audio quality.

  • I'm thinking... Lord Of The Rings. As I often do with her songs.

  • magnificent..

  • This makes me feel more connected to my country - scotland :D

  • @MyImperfections1 I want to move to Scotland!!!

  • This makes me feel more connected to my country [Scotland] #_#

  • This is far from a typical EA-song and faaaar from what I usually listen to, but I like it a lot actually. xD Don't really see what it has to do with 9-11 though...

  • @Becken95 "I will find my brothers" could be about finding those who were lost.

  • @Goddess0Skella Ah, I see... then it could be about every tragedy for that matter, but yeah, it seems reasonable. :)

  • I always get chills when it goes to the chorus.

  • I cried, it's so beautiful. I didn't lose any loved ones in the tragedy of 9-11 but I grieve with everyone who did.

We will find our brothers (and sisters) by the sword, we swear!

  • In honor of those that lost their lives in 9-11 thank you emilie autumn for writing this song.

    ((>*.*<)) spread the plague

  • Please ignore my previous comment. ^.^;;;;;;

  • Hé ce qui est vers le haut de son stupéfier comment je peux parler français ainsi vous fais avenue tous les autres amis qui parlent français ?

  • :D Reminds me of one of my favorite books, By The Sword by Mercedes Lackey. <3

    EA is amazing.

  • Ahhh, I've got goosebumps >.<

  • One day, someone will write a cheerful (but meaningful), feminist Lord of the Rings. This will be the theme song.

  • Did she write the words?

  • @THEORYofMEtari8kitti yes , this was a poem in Your Sugar Sits Untouched (her book) and then she made it a song

  • Why is everything she sings so ...eargasmy? xD New word I invented.

This is my favourite song by her!

  • <3

  • Marines, SALUTE!

  • She is going to be my wife!!!!!

  • I love the violin in this, it's medival yet folk at the same time :D

  • Interesting music. I like how she switches styles.

  • @marcfedak and she stays as amazing as she is

  • The violin tone sounds so lovely... so fitting.

  • PLAGUE RATS FTW!!!

  • I will find my brothers , by the sword , I sweare(c) She 's my fairy night.*

  • Only the good singers/ bands name their fans

  • @TheDizeazedKiller doesn't Justin Beiber call them beliebers?

  • @vanessaLoveeful Sorry, i'll reiterate. Only the singers/ bands name their fans something that doesn't bloat their ego and make them out to be total nob jockeys.

    Better? :)

  • @TheDizeazedKiller the good singers/ bands ****************

  • Medieval freak I am thinks of LOTR whenever I hear this...

  • The Picture is Beautiful

  • @wolvez2 sorry, didn't know Miss Emilie called her fans that! *blush* Yes, yes then i was a plaque rat :P

  • This the Plague Rat anthem!

  • The Plague: catch it, feed it, spread it.

  • amazing song from a amazing singer! :D This song is so strong, so beautiful! It gives me a feeling to never give up! :D

  • This song is brilliant! I live in a place that doesn't even have a city and is really sparsely populated. The hills a really similar to those in the picture. This just reminds me of days walking on the hills being in a totally different world full of magic and knights.

  • @RavenSpiritChild omg thats cool! im glad other ppl relate to me!!! its hard to find ppl like me. ty everyone that thumbed up my comments or can relate to me in any way!!!!!

  • I was standing on the chalk horse of Wiltchshire (Check Google images... wow), and this popped into my head. Just the land scape, the woods, the fact I was with my family... it was so appropriate, it was scary.

  • @LolyaZatsune828 Have you ever read Gothic Lolita? Because the book ends when she's like seventeen or eighteen, and I'm pretty sure she'd have had a deep voice by then. And I think it's haunting anyway. Sorry, I didn't mean to attack you or anything, I'm just pointing that out.

  • I love this song soo much, bcause it reminds me of one of my previous lives. Now, bfore u say im crazy, i believe in reincarnation, so this song really means alot to me.

  • @LadyValkyrieChan I don't find you crazy. I actually find it awesome for someone to talk about past lives on a youtube comment. I believe in reincarnation too :)

  • @TypicalUsername1 Me 2! I wish i'd knew who and what i was in my previous life :(

  • @rolo6rolo You were a plague rat. :)

  • @wolvez2 -____- a... plaque rat... wtf...

  • @rolo6rolo Plague Rats are what Miss Emilie's fans are called. =)

  • @TheTollingBelle oh... i'm so sorry! :O Then yes, i was haha XD I didn't know that she called them that *blush*

  • @rolo6rolo XD It's okay, you know now, that's what matters! Now you know that you're a Plague Rat just like the rest of us. =^_^=

  • @LadyValkyrieChan Cool ^^ What was your previous life? I'm curious :)

  • @Ataume well, im not really sure, but something like a knight i guess =P

  • @LadyValkyrieChan You never "visited"? It's just a feeling? (That's cool as well ^^)

  • The difference in style and sound between Enchant and Opheliac is nothing short of astounding...

  • To me this is a song about feeling alone because you behave with honor in a corrupted society.

  • To me this is a song about having honor and values in a corrupted society.

  • 21 people wouldn't save their brothers 'By the sword'

    Don't know where they sleep

Are too scared to meet someone by the lake

Don't care about the sixteen victims behind the cathedral

and 21 people don't know how wonderful EA is and should shut their mouths and swallow. :3

  • Haunting voice, beautiful face, enchanting music .... she's one of the sidhe alright, there's no doubt about it!

  • Such a beautiful song, I could just sit and listen to her sing for hours.

  • Reminds me of the Enchant era. Love it.

  • To me, this is a song about never forgetting who you really are and never losing hope. Letting go of the past and moving forward. Never stop believing in yourself, and never lose hope. Life isn't easy, but we'll have to learn to look at the bright side. That's what this song is telling me. <3

  • 20 people were dispatched by the sword. ^-^

  • What fuckers voted thumbs down?

  • @TheTruthfulAsshole Just people who have different taste in music

  • @chaoswarhound

    You don't vote thumbs down.

You leave it alone then if it's not cup of tea.

You thumbs down what is bad on the ears.

    This is angelic.

  • @TheTruthfulAsshole Maybe it was bad on their ears. I know when I first listened to Emilie Autumn I didn't think she could sing at all, but after time she grew on me. Obviously people who disliked the video have much different ideas about what good music is.

  • An enchanting musical experience :)

  • Emilie's music is just a stab to the soul, it makes you actually FEEL.

    I love her!

  • @vampire89142 OMFG...DUDE...U JUST SAID AN ABSOLUTE TRUTH OF WHAT EA MAKES ME FEEL!!!

  • Blackmore's Night can do better medieval-sounding stuff, in my humblest of opinions. However, Emilie did a nice job, and I still do like this song a lot--especially considering the circumstances surrounding it. It was very noble of her to write something in memory of those we lost in the Sep. 11 attacks.

  • OMG this could be the Theme Song of Dungeons and Dragons ^.^

i never played it but it could make it more popular mybe?

  • @zanewoody Nah, they're ripping off the WoW theme, like everything else in 4.fail ed.

    I'm a 3.5 fan, if it's not obvious.

  • this reminds me of King arthur.

  • This reminds me of the days of The Highlanders.

  • Does the opening remind anyone else of Lord of The Rings? Or am i the only nerd who heard that?

  • @ConverseAndSharpies haha no! Yay I'm not alone x3

  • @ConverseAndSharpies nope! thats the first thing i thought of!! emilie autumn and lotr! epic win

  • @ConverseAndSharpies Nah the opening reminded me of Narnia bah!

  • How does this reflect 9/11?

  • To all ye dislikes, EMILIE KNOWS WHERE YOU SLEEP.

  • @simplEpiphany In addition, she will most likely treat them like bear thieves :3

  • @vampiregirl1423 Pussy

  • @vampiregirl1423

Okay, I understand you don't like the song. But I now have a question: If you are in hatred of song to put in capitals a rather annoying comment, why listen to the song at all?

  • Comment removed

  • I will hate myself for this, but nineteen people don't believe in this brotherhood.

This song is pure musical bliss.

  • Silly me but its seems that the sword is Narnian. I am the only one that sees this?

  • Every single one of her songs are just so different.

I just found out about her, but she's utterly intoxicating.

Her voice is amazing and every song just takes my breath away.

  • So, is it bad that this makes me think "What if a Samurai and a Teutonic knight met?"

  • @NekuThat1DeadKid That's not bad at all!!!! In fact your statement had me actually laughing for a solid minute. THank you for making my day!!!

  • @ViolinistMissTako

    You're welcome

  • 0:26 - 0:39 it's magical. where can I find music like this?

  • @liveforpain

try old celtic and irish songs.. loreena mckennit for example

  • OMG SHE'S A FUCKING KNIGHT.

I swear to god she's a fairy night. A mad Victorian fairy night.

  • @XxMissNoNamexX Lmao so true! A mad Victorian steampunk faeirie knight seamstress pastry chef. Emilie's just magical.

  • @XxMissNoNamexX Sidhe

  • I love this song(: I cant wait till i can play it on my violin(:

  • Emilie is amazing. This is an amazing song

  • with her music she paints dreams, stories and wishes <3 just amazing *-*

  • @BloodyShadowMusic Do you ever dream of riding on a white steed, weilding a magic paintbrush that sent colors out into the land to paint it back to what it used to be? All the while hearing this music whistling through the hills and forests sprouting from your canvas.

    Well, i do.

  • @snakedemon11

While reading this I imagined doing that.

And well.. maybe that would be the best for the world, painting it back to the beginning, bringing back its real beauty, the wilderness.

The very imagination makes me wanna cry.

  • only realised halfway through the song the irony of me playing with my toy sword at the time xD

  • @charlandlen I understand what you're saying :D but that is not called irony :3 yours would be a silly coincidence :D

  • @Ricamros Oh soz language police! Lol jk =P thanks for correcting me ^_^ don't wanna be turning into Alanis Morrisette now do I?

  • @charlandlen ha, well :D technically not, but remember, she is God (in Dogma). Could be nice to try being that.

  • I love this song so much!!!!! I can't stop singing it!!!! EA is awesome!

  • Eleven-year-old Autumn went vegetarian after being unable to rationalize why she should eat farm animals but not her pet... that's a good question indeed...

  • 19 ppl shood go die in a hole.

  • @MStoecker2 Hmm... i greatly pity 19 people.. to have such damaged ears, minds and souls.

  • Holy... when I heard this song, the hairs on the back of my neck stood up. Her violin and her voice are such a potent combination it can soothe me or hype me. She is so amazing, I wish for a day I can do nothing but listen to EA over and over again...

  • *greater than

  • Anyway tthe story and the atmosphere of the mentioned fantasy game is much more darker, cruel, and desparate than the Tolkien and Lewis, but really such a great, and gripping fantasy story, maybe even greater like their's.

  • @adamfarkas11 darker than an invincible evil destroying the world, cause that's kinda tough to beat. or the apocalypse (C.S. Lewis Narnia 7th book).

  • @laughingatarmageddon Yeah, but at the end they all go to heaven. That's not particularly dark.

  • @celzmccelz Agreed, however it is basically the book of Revelations from the Bible, and both end with the believers being taken to heaven.

  • @adamfarkas11 I don't think it's possible for the storyline of a fantasy game to be better than Lord of the Rings, no matter how good it is.

  • NARNIA! sorry had to get that outta my system

  • @HelpCatIsMee Narnia, an insult for real epic fiction.

  • @EtanDor actually, The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe is a retelling of the story of Jesus, the entire world is well fleshed out, and imo the entire series is pretty good.

  • @laughingatarmageddon I can understand why people think it's a metaphor for the Crucifixion and Jesus, but C.S. Lewis was an atheist so it wouldn't make much sense. Has nothing on Lord of the Rings :D but it is a good series.

  • @SilaVendethiel I was saying that the series is actually pretty good, also C.S. Lewis converted to christianity right after JRR Tolkien read this manuscript for TLTWaTW and pointed out that it was basically the story of Christ. Also agreed, LotR is 1337

  • @laughingatarmageddon ah, fair do's :) I guess I need to learn my author history a bit better. I never really caught on after TLTW&TW. However I do think Lewis was an amazing writer and his critique on The Lay of Leithian is really interesting.

  • @SilaVendethiel haven't actually read that, I also suggest the Screwtape Letters to anyone who hasn't read it

  • @laughingatarmageddon I'll check that out :)

  • @SilaVendethiel

This song would fit perfectly to Dragon Age. (VG, Bioware = quality, fucking awesomness) It's an epic fantasy world as well, and there is a brotherhood, called the Grey Wardens.:)

  • Does this remind anyone else of Don Quixote? Or is it just me?

  • I love every song Emilie has ever made, she is truly my music goddess. The fact I am infatuated beyond words with the middles ages and self proclaim myslef a present day black knight however...ameks this seem like a fitting theme song for me.

  • I have no idea why but whenever i listen to this song it makes me feel so happy it brings me to tears

  • This woman is amazing truly beautiful i have been enchanted both by her music and her beauty

  • Wow, i just discover this song, and...i love so !!

  • when i first listened Emilie´s music i almost hated it. Since that time i grown up and now...i love it...

  • i think her heart was magically enchanted

  • Wow! Soo beautiful! I love the orchestra!!

Gosh! Emilie is so tallented!! :D

  • she is WAY better than that now-a-days crap. does anyone who sing that stuff play the electric violin, classical violin? i don't think so...

  • @clariny90 Don't Forget The Piano, Keyboard, Harpsichord, And Acoustic Guitar! :D

  • @paramorexd423 oh my, how could i forget?

  • I'm sorry, but wtf was that?

  • @lizrocks888 That was music from the heavens.

  • The first song I ever heard from emilie autunm was Liar, it was crazy but I liked it and now I love all her music she can change her music to make it all sound so awesome

  • 17 people must have missed the "like" button

  • @laughingatarmageddon Their mouse must have been on the fritz. :]

  • reminds me of chambermaid

  • yey fiddle ness =]

  • I have one problem. I love her violin playing, and it's interesting sounding stuff, but I HATE her voice. Almost with a passion. aaaaugh.

  • @TheTurclesOfficial how akward. i have a friend ho loves her compositions, but HATE her voice. I love her voice live, I have multiple eargasms each time she starts shaking her voice hyper fast *--------*

  • isn't that melody at the begining a version of that from LOTR, when they were in Rohan? at least it reminds me of it

  • @Hanakomiko it does... :) how wonderful

  • does anyone else notice that bitchin' bassline? Who plays bass here??

  • @CxxShep I heard it but I can not play bass

  • her music makes me want to learn how to play violin again...<3

  • Lol! This does kinda sound like a Levellers song. Which is no bad thing.

  • i love the intro untill the singing starts

  • @ThrashMetalGuy Same here x

  • @towneegirl5 to be honest i'm a fan of medieval music and viking mythology

  • Reminds me of the Lord of the Rings and King Arthur :)

  • Comment removed

  • I don´t know why, but every, when I hear this song I think could do anything I want. Emilie Autumn is amazing!

  • Wow, she's amazing!

  • this song .. I will put it on cd..with a couple of others.. and it will played on the day I die .. to say thanks to my friends

    thanx EA !! <3

  • I love Emilie Autumn. Always have.

But...I find this song weird, just by the fct that, heh, it has that Irishesque feeling to it...And yet, this song was written by Autumn after what happened in 911.

x3 Does anyone else think that's strange, too?

    xx

  • @bloodSCARSandMCR It was a charity single for 9/11, wasn't it?

  • Bit's of this reminds me of The Levellers... don't care for the way she sings this though.. the music is great....

  • I still don't understanding why she isn't more well known. Her songs are so amazing, she is so talented at singing, playing and writing, and best of all, she is a unique artist...

  • I thought she was Scottish to start with! This song's so homey ^.^!

  • Do you make your own backgrounds?

It seems like you've used photoshop (or something like that)

    Good job!

  • Gotta love that fiddling.

  • I have yet to find a song of Emilie's I don't like.

Among all these songs that are all about alcohol and sex, Emilie sings about so many different things all of which either hold a meaning to me or are put in such a captivating way that instantly spark an interest.

I was just browsing a music site and saw Gothic Lolita on there and wondered if it was inspired by the Japanese lolita fashion (yes, I now know the song isn't about it, but the name... xD) and I instantly fell in love...

  • Emilie Autumn... What can I say? Goddess of song. Siren that haunts my waking dreams. Her music truly can be called the divine ambrosia, for if music is the food of the soul then the gods feast well...

  • FOLK STYLE! Emilie, you have out done yourself this time.

  • what else can say a little hungarian girl for emilie autumn? love it <3
