I just noticed the new season of Teletoon Retro has begun, and new shows such as Garfield & Friends, King of the Hill, Ned's Newt, My Pet Monster, Looney Tunes Show, Gremlins, and Power Rangers.
@MegaMr46 Yes. And we're finally getting similar channels up here in Canada! It took a while, but now we have Nickelodeon Canada. It airs pretty much the same as the US one, but more 90's Nick Cartoons than the original. And all this week is a Spongebob Marathon!
@LaFamiliaWJ I've always wanted to have Boomerang up here in Canada,
but from what I've hear from you and several others, it's not the same as it used to be way back when it first began. I enjoy Teletoon Retro! Looney Tunes all day long sometimes, and weekend marathons of various shows that don't normally air like The Real Ghostbusters, Tom & Jerry and Looney Tunes Movies!
Yeah, we get to watch Looney Tunes all day, with The Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show, Merrie Melodies, The Porky Pig Show and The Roadrunner Show. Plus we get Pink Panther which is just as good and made by Friz Freling!
@MysticMTL well, when I got the channel, there was no porky pig show, too bad they replaced quickdraw mcgraw at 6am with a cartoon that shouldn't be on there because it is a 1995 one and not classic, The Little LuLu show, i knew it would happen too
I wanted to subscribe to Teletoon Retro as soon as we got our digital cable package but Cogeco, which is my cable service provider, doesn't seem to carry it.
I think Videotron has it, and both satellite companies (ExpressVu / Star Choice) carry it as well. It's pretty good. They've added a bunch of old classics, and they're planning on adding many more this coming fall!
That's really great news to hear! I don't think they're going to need to axe anything. They air the same program blocks 4 times per day. It would be great to add a little mix to it. I guess they now figure that this channel is becoming a success! With the addition of Pink Panther and Woody Woodpecker and the current programs they air, this channel should suit any Classic Cartoon fan. We just need to get more Looney Tunes episodes and the real Tom & Jerry, and we'd be all set!
Ok, Pink Panther will air twice daily, starting tomorrow (Monday, March 3rd). At 5:00pm (replace one episode of Super Friends) and at 9:30pm (replace one episode of "The Tom & Jerry Show). Teletoon Retro will air all 82 episodes of "The Pink Panther Show" which is the first time it's been on Canadian TV since 1992. Some other additions to note. They will infact be airing Merrie Melodies episodes, so we're about to see some retro Looney Tunes Cartoons and not just "Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show"! :)
I was ecstatic when I first heard about this channel, especially since we couldn't get CN's Boomerang. I'm not too impressed though simply because they keep repeating the same block of shows. It gets tiresome very quickly. They really need to add more to the schedule, especially if they expect people to subscribe once the free preview ends.
I agree with this. 90% of the shows that appear on Teletoon Retro had originally aired on Teletoon. And Teletoon at that time had not acquired the rights to all of the episodes of any particular series, only a handful, as a sampling. Now they decide to start a new channel with those same few episodes with the same handful of the same programs. Bugs Bunny & Tweety Show has 26 episodes, which complete their run once per month. Yet there are over 1500 Looney Tunes cartoons...
I guess this is the reason that Nick GAS is changing to The "N" in January, to compete with Disney with live-action teen dramas and comedies. It's all to compete with the Mickey Mouse Network.
Well, Cartoon Network is airing a marathon of the non-cartoon show Goosebumps. You'd think that there were enough cartoons that existed out there that they wouldn't need to change formats! Even Toon Disney is beginning to air live action movies, and non-Disney content on their network!
I know that Pink Panther and Tom & Jerry are still there, which is a good thing. I'm really disappointed though that shows like Looney Tunes and Two Stupid Dogs are no longer on the air. I don't know if this channel runs on ratings or not, but I've noticed a lot of shows like Dennis the Menace, and Garfield & Friends were very short lived on Boomerang.
This is a brand new channel, 24 hours a day of Classic Cartoons, not just a block on the original Teletoon. This is the real deal we're talking about with several hours per day of Classic Warner Looney Tune Cartoons!!! :)
Great! I just learned that it is only available on Expressvue and Rogers. Guess I will have to wait and hope for it to come to Illico soon. For now at least there's a site with some clips on it......
cartoonnetwork dot com slash boomerang. It's a commercial free classic cartoon channel that was created by Cartoon Network back in 2000, and it's available in most countries except Canada, since Canadian law prohibits the entrance of any specialty channel if a Canadian company already owns the rights to that same type of programming.
Hope RETRO becomes the classic animation channel Boomerang was supposed to be. BOOM just added Out of Jimmy's Head, which is neither a classic nor an animated series.
Why does Boomerang need to add popular content, they are a totally commercial free network and not having to worry at all about ratings. What does it matter to them. Why can't they air shows that they used to air when they first started. I loved watching the really funny Classic Cartoons, like Looney Tunes and Tom & Jerry. Now they rarely air these shows in favour of newer shows like Dexter's Lab! :(
I hope this channel will be as great as they advertise. I've always wanted Boomerang to watch Classic cartoons, but finally we're getting our own Classic cartoon channel up here in Canada.

I checked the Wiki for Nick GAS, and they say that it still airs on Dish Network Channel #177 and on Sky Latin Channel #325.

I think Nick GAS is still on the air, even though they said that Dec.31st,2007 was supposed to be the last day.

No problem. Atleast if you look around Youtube you can find some of the Classic cartoons that others have uploaded available to watch. :)

Hmm, I think for the moment it's only offered on Rogers and ExpressVu, but hopefully, Videotron and others like Eastlink will add it.
