I don't find Franz a likeable person even now. He stood by knowing the rank & file were being used and abused because he enjoyed his lofty position. Then when he needed retirement money he writes the book and cashes in once again. That is just how I feel about him even though the book may help some decide to leave.

Brother Franz wrote truthfully. I read "Crisis of Conscience" and his other book "In Search of Christian Freedom." Any JW who reads them will know that this former Governing Body member spoke truthfully.
Yet, the culprit is not the people of JW's themselves, but the "mother" organization who feeds and holds them captive. This is true of all religious organization.
Our warfare is not against religious organizations - including the Watch Tower. Jehovah will provide release to all in captivity.
Our situations sound similar, I was recently reinstated though... but I am "back" with a completely different attitude... I want to help my mom see this is NOT the TRUTH, ONCE FALSE ALWAYS FALSE, but sometimes I think she is toooo strongly convinced ... for almost 3 years, she did not have dealings with me... that broke my heart, and I'm still a little angry by that... I have to be careful though... my husband fears that I will soon be put out again because of this...

@joepublisher1 I'm 46 now & had very little problems in leaving. I had plenty of so called wordly friends. I saw my aunt last weekend who is still in. Mom said she was having depression problems. No question in my mind why she is depressed.

@joepublisher1 I was a 10 year old kid & I could see through this non-sense. The "new light" changes to the doctrine. Did moses have to rewrite the Ten Commandments as the light became brighter? If God or the Holy Spirit was giving them the info there would be no need for doctrine changes. As a kid I could not understand how grown adults couldn't see this. I'm discusted with Parents who can't use their logic to save their families from the organization. Get a backbone adults, think a little.

@joepublisher1 Well he was in a lofty position from 1965- the early 80's. Surely in that time he saw how unfair others were being treated in those 15 years yet it was only after that unfairness was turned ON HIM that he took action. Ray was fine with others being labeled & disfellowshipped for those 15 years & never spoke up on their behalf. I find that very selfish & quite frankly a little scummy.

@joepublisher1 He was fine with watching others being abused & accused FOR YEARS. It was only after the Watchtowers unfair policies were turned ON HIM he changed his mind. Little worm.

@joepublisher1 Thank you . Happy is an understatement to describe how I feel now. Finally everyone of my 6 Adult children have come out. We are all closer than ever. We are still hoping that the 3 spouses who also came out with my children will have the same success with their families.

I don't find Franz a likeable person even now. He stood by knowing the rank & file were being used and abused because he enjoyed his lofty position. Then when he needed retirement money he writes the book and cashes in once again. That is just how I feel about him even though the book may help some decide to leave.

I thought about the same thing but after having raised my children in the cult I know how if feels to have lived in the dream world where every thing you do has God's Blessings, when in fact you're screwing people over. The more people you hurt when you were part of the cult the more courage it takes to get out. I think that if his Lofty position was all that mattered to him he never would have even started on the course for Real Truth.

@PrintedTruth Yes, I may be too hard on him. It just seemed like 9 years on the governing body was a long time. Seemed he was only moved to action when the unfair system was turned on him. Once you are "the accused" it is a whole different feeling. If they decide you are the bad guy..the cold hearted, lying, slanderous, treatment is unbelievable. I imagine Franz himself was surprised how it felt, even after watching others go through it for many many years.

Russel's wife flirted with feminism that was financed by the Rockefellers to tax more people and take kids into daycare to precondition them for society, ring the bell? JWs are the most ruthless to deliver the gospel, about blood transfusion and their non-existant tolerance for criticism makes them #1 critics.

@999Atwood I too have JWs in my family, especially my mother and she's the one I like the least amongst them. When you said 'I don't find Franz a likeable person even now' I can only think coz you may hav some passion for WT due to their masonic heritage. I might be wrong but my recent arguement with a mason for abandoning the WT is unforgivable. He rekon people should stick to their principles rather than change. Masons created all major conflicts and your user name...lol, am I right?

@999Atwood Do you honestly think he was the only one of the GB who enjoyed his "lofty position?" You should really watch some of the videos and read the blogs of those who knew the man. You should really hear the full story from all involved, altho the GB won't talk to you about it. Not one person who knew him, in or out of the organization, ever had a bad word to say about him. Not anything I can find. Only those who bad mouth him, are the ones who never knew him.

@Danmera I think you just like him because his story supports your position now. For me it just took him too long & he only changed his mind AFTER the unfair disipline was turned on him. It took too long in my opnion & for all those years he knew other peoples lives were being affected by GB policy. I just don't like him, if you do that is fine.

If you chose not to do the same, that's fine, but to judge someone without knowing all the facts, is pretty unloving, don't you think?

Brother Franz wrote truthfully. I read "Crisis of Conscience" and his other book "In Search of Christian Freedom." Any JW who reads them will know that this former Governing Body member spoke truthfully.
Yet, the culprit is not the people of JW's themselves, but the "mother" organization who feeds and holds them captive. This is true of all religious organization.
Our warfare is not against religious organizations - including the Watch Tower. Jehovah will provide release to all in captivity.

Our situations sound similar, I was recently reinstated though... but I am "back" with a completely different attitude... I want to help my mom see this is NOT the TRUTH, ONCE FALSE ALWAYS FALSE, but sometimes I think she is toooo strongly convinced ... for almost 3 years, she did not have dealings with me... that broke my heart, and I'm still a little angry by that... I have to be careful though... my husband fears that I will soon be put out again because of this...

@myeyeareopen Wow. you have guts. I could only take 10 months of meetings before I could not stand it any more. I had to get out or I was going to blow. I hope the best for you as far as getting your mom out. Gogorby said something to me the other day. He said" People all wake up at different times in different ways, if you try and wake them your way too soon they get grumpy"
