  • one of those pics was Carly Patterson

  • i lost my gymnastics dream too :'(

  • I'm missing the sad part

  • Shayla's "story" was far from over after the disappointment of breaking her leg right before 2008 Olympic Trials. Shayla is currently a junior at the University of Georgia and competing for them in NCAA Women Gymnastics.

  • What happened to her?

  • @TheShadowKnows24 .....ur ryt.!!

  • luck of info....

  • Even after this she went on to compete gymnastics at the University of Georgia

  • Very sad

  • Broken legs with gymnastics are hard to have and then start training again it takes more than a year to get back into shape and almost 2 years to get as good as you were. trust me i know firsthand it happened to me on uneven bars.

  • I Don't get it why is it a sad story

  • @lamo0or1 because they girls train their whole fucking lives to get to where they are then they get an injury which can prevent them from being the best. Imagine that, training 7 days a week, morning and night. it would suck.

  • so who is she? oh that's right, no one cares!

  • u know what they say....break a leg.......result, well done cheers.... what next ....cant wait lol

  • How many other people lost out on Olympic dreams, or dreams of other sports. I think just about everyone had dreams they lost out on, myself included. The list of ballplayers who lost out on big league careers due to injuries is a long one indeed. I feel sorry for this girl, but it isn't a tragedy. It's life.

  • I'm shocked at how stupid this video is. So she broke her leg. BIG FUCKING DEAL!!! If she really wants to compete again she will. And I completely understand being depressed over not being able to do the sport you love, but this video hit new lows of stupidity.

  • it would have been sadder if she died but this is really sad :(

  • how did she break her leg?! plz reply!

  • ok so sad story because she broke her leg and disn't went to olypics?? i get se was depressed an stuff but seriously.... people die becouse of gymnastic.. she survived.... gosh.

  • She wouldn't have even made the team...

  • This is so fucking stupid. I've seen worse. One damn year? So freaking what?

  • ohhhh just cuz of the title i thought she died... oops

  • all this because she broke her leg

  • she competes for the georgia gym dogs.. well last i checked.

  • She Did not die i have her signature on my grips and i got it about a year and a half ago

  • wow wow wow i am confused, peepole did she die or not?????

  • @AnnieBoPookie No, she did not die. She is perfectly healthy, she just broke her leg before the 2008 olympics and was unable to compete.

  • @xoxPatriots83ily i know but then what happend to her

  • Comment removed

  • did she died?

  • This is a rather odd video... why would you..what? why?

  • @ravel111 because she felt like it? you obviously dont know anything about gymnastics, she is honoring a fallen gymnast.

  • Overdramatic much? Lol. I'm sorry she broke her leg and couldn't fulfill her dream. Shit happens as they say.

Sang Lan (sp) broke her neck and was paralyzed from the chest down back in 98 and she will never walk again (save a miracle).

Alex Zanardi lost both his legs in a crash and would cringe.

But this Miss. broke her LEG and you've got funeral music playing? o.0

  • Damn this tuba!

  • please this video puts bad thoughts about gymnastics when really gymnastics is about taking a chance but also it requires strength beauty skill and cordination

  • A boring story.......I fell off my chair watching this.....

  • LOL

  • Wait... Did she die? :(

  • Wow! I didn't know that happened!

  • I didn't know this happened.

  • She is still living her dream. I thought she died too, the way the music was playin and the pics. Well, she broke her leg, and that is unfortunate..could have been her neck, back, ribs, a whole lotta shit could have happened: Death. Many gymnast have died or died of complications, so yes she is blessed. Also very pretty. :)

  • This is not sad. So what- she didn't make the Olympic team. Do you know how many girls dream of making the Olympics?! Feel sorry for the ones that would have been great but whose parents didn't have the money to send them to the schools and teams so they could master their art. This girl had every chance. She was one of the blessed ones.

  • Had she won Olympic gold that wouldn't define her either. People aren't what they do or what happens to them. People are possibilities. What happened to her isn't sad, sad is just one way of being about it. Sadness isn't in what happened, sadness is in some people's minds. It doesn't exist in time and space.

  • This is ridiculous and the poster of this video is either irresponsible or more likely just a kid who doesn't understand. By calling it "Shayla Worley a sad story", they're saying SHE is a sad story, I guess since she didn't make the 08 team. That is frankly insulting. I'm sure she has happy, sad and every other kind of story just like everyone else but none of them define her. Had she won Olympic gold that wouldn't define her either. People aren't what they do or what happens to them. Peo

  • well it wasnt that sad i thought she died or got paralyzed or something like that...

  • hello... I think you misunderstood me...I myself took gymnastics....I was asking another person (commenting on their comemnt) about why THEY thought gymnastics was stupid ....if it their passion, its their passion......peace

  • What is the music in the video?

  • She broke her leg guys haha...

  • How did she die I am confused

  • @1216funnybunny she didnt die

  • i thought she died as well

  • @1216funnybunny udbo much she didnt die it told u she broke her leg!!

  • @1216funnybunny Aha...haha

  • please respond, Shayla

  • I do not know exactly what was but I believe you will achieve your dream, if God will be with you, but if you do not ostveri attempt to achieve it at least in my dreams! and I'm training for gymnastics so that we could possibly give advice on how to get into B program, and to be better and more successful? thanks!

  • Never write the protagonist off during the first act.

  • what skill did she break her leg on? She has had problems with her dismount this year.

  • I love watching gymnastic but I don't know all the gymnast men or women. So when I saw this vid I don't what I should be sad about. Did she die from breaking her neck doing a very dangerous move or from cancer. What is the back story of the vid.

  • Look, you ahev great ideas behind the montage, but it's not well done. , you have good ideas, but please use better material. Try to separate the text. words aren't very moving when they looked as if they have just been thrown on lazily. also, don't reuse images.

  • I love u shayla

  • ohhh i thought she died

  • she has a gold medal she got at worlds with her team.allot gymnast's cant say that.

  • this is the worst ever i mean i dont even know what happened at the end this is so stupid!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • shayla isa lucky to have people like the poster of this video. a strong support system helps everyone that hits the speed bumps of life, get through those darkest of times. never stop believing!!!

  • that is a sad one, yes, but atleast shes still alive, like Kerri Strug before her, she moved away from gymnastics after an injury, I hope these ladies who have moved away from gymnastics after injuries, are all happy, and healthy, i know it's hard for a dream to be ended, but hopefully they have found something else to do, be, that means as much to them as being an Olympian... or maybe find a way back to the sport she dedicated her youth to...

  • i was so sad when i found out she broke her leg:( ..... i realllly wanted her to make the 2008 team... at the olympic trials i only cheered for her and nastia...

  • shayla is very talented and for her to make the olympic will mean more to her then any other gymnast thats been there 3 times and i think that even if a gymnast like shayla hasn't gotten the chance to go to the olympics and knowing as good as she is it makes you think that your not good enough and it puts a lot in your mind and then you make mistakes cause you figure what is it going to take to let her get on that team and represent the usa at the olympic games

  • Yeah, it's really not all that sad. This montage is tad bit overdramatized. Shayla Worley and her family felt far too assured that she'd qualify to the Olympics, anyway. Even if she hadn't had the injury, she wouldn't have made it.

  • You are all soooo mean! You dont have to react like that! Jerks.....

  • 76 likes and 76 dislikes!? o__e

  • thousands of kids die of hunger before they are 5 years old. is this overfed first world country story sad? fuck you

  • actually i know her and we were friends at the gym....she was doing an illusion at the olympic trials and had a gaurenteed spot on the olympic team....well she was warming up her illusion in warm-ups and they were thought that she had shin splints and well when she did the illusion the leg that was up in the air broke. her spot on the olympic team was gone, because she wouldnt recover in time!

  • she never would have made the olympic team. I think it was a good thing that she broke her leg, at least she can use that as an excuse, she would never have to face the fact that she was not olympic material in any situation.

  • The commentary made me laugh xP

  • Do you think that she will try for the Olympic team for London '12?? That would be so awesome if she did!!! I'm so glad to hear that she's still competing on the collegiate level!

  • Very disapointing that shayla was not chosen for the olympic team, but god has better things for her to do. very kind of u to make it for her. i always youtube gymnastics monatages, and im surprised that all of them are about death or paralysis. Cant someone focus on positive stories of girls who achieved their dreams? Please no one take this the wrong way. im not bashing the video or user, but i think its just as easy to look at the positive for her and other girls. Best of luck to you shayla!

  • what happen to her?

  • @barbiejath she broke her leg and was unable to compete at the 2008 olympics

  • this didnt really happen right? i thought she did make the team?

  • She is an amazing gymnast and would have been on that team for sure if it wouldnt have broken her leg, but she went to Beijing as a contributor for insidegymnastics magazine...she is now at UGA being amazing

  • all i can say is...it didnt turn out the way you wanted it, but you are able to WALK, RUN, SKIP, BREATH ON YOUR OWN,DRIVE A CAR, HAVE CHILDREN...i understand you were disapointed, but you are alive...you can help someone else who is a much worse state than yourself! i'm not knocking this video because everybody strives to do different things and you couldnt do what you trained for, but i'm proud of you and impressed you made it that far! keep your head up!

  • hey what's the song called (Awesome)?

  • wow that is so sad can you make another PLEASE!

  • my coach almost made the olympics but she broke her neck at the olympic trials.. stuff happens.. every four years out of 4 thousand gymnasts (on the girls side, plus the number is prolly in the 10's of thousands) only 6-8 make it to the olympics. that means 3,992 gymnasts don't.. but you know don't worry about them its not like they wanted to go to the olympics either..

  • It's sad that she didn't make the Olympic team, but neither did 1000's of other gymnasts that had the same dream.

  • I wish i was in gymnastics or cheerleading and i love to watch videos of it but every time i watch a video it almost makes me cry cuz i want to be in it so bad but my mom dont have enoguh money for me and my twin sis to go it cost $30 bucks a month for each of us

  • ooookay.......

  • Why is there a picture of carly in this? Shayla was in the next 4 year cycle.

  • Comment removed

  • i almost started crying :.(

  • thats sad

  • She is lucky she still has a gymnastic career and go for the next olympics. Tragic is what happened to Julissa, Christy, Elena and others who have died from their sport. Truly sad is Kristi Phillips who was at the top of her game for years, but too young to compete at the olympics. When trials came around Kristi had hit puberty and a huge growth spurt. She didn't have enough time to adjust to the brand new body and ended up an alternate. Shayla, you aren't done yet!

  • i feel sorry for this, but it is gymnastics...nuf said

  • this is a sad story hope shayla worely is doing well at ther gym dawgs.

  • really sad

  • It is sad, but that happens to so many other gymnasts, too!

Only 6 gymnasts per country can go, so you can imagine how many dreams get lost!

  • omg who cares???

  • Umm u if ur watchin this vid

  • while i agree that training your whole life and having your dream taken away from you is extremley sad, there are way more tragic stories out there.

  • whats stupid about gymnastics? its their passion

  • @RedNativeRose Hiya!! I don't want to say anything negative. But I would like to ask you a question.. Why do you think a gymnasts passion for their sport, is stupid??....Being a former gymnast myself, I'd like to know the reasoning behind your comment....Peace and happiness to you!! :)

  • wow this isnt a stupid sport at all for all i know is that you probably dont even do a sport and you cant judge it if you haven't tried it

  • sad story is that people like you still live on this planet

  • omg that's soo sad Not Really These Thing's Happen That's life i'm not saying i have anything aggents her but that's not sad that's a waste of time !

  • Um, wow. Let me give you a little info.

Shayla Worley broke her leg at training camp and yes did not get to become apart of the olympic team. But she is now at UGA. A Gym Dawg. One of the BEST might I add. Tonight the Gymdawgs went against Kentucky and Shayla did AMAZING on bars and floor with a 9.975 on floor. That girl is amazing at what she does & I believe she will make it to the Olympic Team some day.

  • @goingforgold21 i know i luv shayla and i think she is a wonderful gymnast and she is doing a great job 4 the gymdawgs!!! and like u i hope she will have another chance to go 2 the olympics this viedo was made because i wanted everyone to appreciate her gymnastics skill!!!

  • @gymnasticschic1 she's probably too old now after 18 your career is pretty much done

  • @jewelrider321 No, she's not too old. There are plenty of older gymnasts out there. Kelly Garrison competed in Seoul at 21. Oksana Chusovitina competed in Beijing at 33. There are many.

  • @goingforgold21 she probably won't, because she quit elite gymnastics, now she's at college, she can't go to the olympics...

  • Thank you for sharing. You rock! You should have been chosen.

  • @pinkandwhite9 i know i wasnt talking 2 u anyway im not even sure y i posted it i think i was responding 2 wut RoxieMySox said wutevs

  • @greyskies34 and pinkandwhite9

wow what a stupid thing to argue about!

  • @mtgymnastanddancer we werent arguing it was a misunderstandment what a stupid thing 2 get ticked off about

  • @greyskies34

i wasnt ticked off...ticked off would be like shut up punks, it is sooo stupid to argue about that! that is not what i did... i guess there was another misunderstanding =l

  • @mtgymnastanddancer *sigh* o well srry lol

  • @greyskies34

    it ok lol =)

  • aww I'm sorry what happened to you?

  • SHE make the team? her gymnastics was never pretty.

    plus her attitude.

    eeeeek.

  • She will make a big come back Coutney Mccool and Kourtney Kupets did at Georgia. So glad she is there now!

  • ....that video was kinda stupid...we all know what happened to worley, and there are bigger trageties that have happened.

  • It's kind of sad. It's hard to work for a dream and not see it fulfilled. Sometimes the real value is the journey it self. Shayla, you are beautiful. Thank you for sharing your talents!

  • The real value MUST be in the journey, or you have done it all for nothing.

  • oh please, that's not sad

  • there are greater tragedies in life. be grateful.

  • I think she should be in the Olympics she was prett and, good at gymnastics

  • yes i did break my leg butt it's better and i wont give my hopes up i will still train and go for the olympic team:)

  • what do you mean by "you" your not shayla Worley.....

  • @gymnasticschic1 yeah, i doubt that's shayla worley, it says the youtuber is from CANADA

  • ha and you think you're gonna go make the olimpic team?

  • @krazyshayla09 ur not shayla?

  • @krazyshayla09 i Luv how your comment was replyed to...What do you mean by "you" your not shayla.....who knows i might be shayla....LOL

  • wow

  • how about getting Some perspective on what actually is sad?....ffs..

  • she looks so familiar to me. Did she die because i think she goes to my gym now

  • no she didn't die but if u live in florida that might be her

  • she did not die

  • @camlover7 shes not dead u idiot

  • @camlover7 she goes to uga and no shes quite alive

  • @camlover7 that doesnt even make since, if she had died she wouldnt be going to you gym

  • @camlover7 errrr how could she have died and then go to your gym? quite amazing to manage that, even though she is NOT dead...

  • @camlover7 if she died why would she be at your gym?

  • @camlover7 "Did she die because I think she goes to my gym now" HAHAHA!!! That's hilarious.

  • Shaley Worley Please don't cry on the Past

    now it;s Best

I know you are hero .

but you should think in the future .

    your student

    totos

  • I missed going in 96 in wieghtlifting, 2 kilos stood in the way. I'm not sad and it's not that bad. But I did see alot of lifters get heartbroken to the point of needing counseling. Parents, don't push your kids too far, and teach them how to lose with dignity. Knowing how to lose builds character. I now coach and am very happy. Shayla, I wish you all the best !

  • actually its not really a sad story compared to other gymnasts who died or got paralyzed (did i spell it right)

she has the rest of her life

she can be successful in any other career

    who knows

  • that is true but really its sad for every gymnast who is so close 2 going 2 the olympics and get hurt but your right she will have a carrer in collage wich is good i guss

  • it is sad i am a gymnmast the worst thing is your name not being called for the olympics it can lead to even depression its worse than breaking every bone in your body it feels like you just did a thomas salter and broke your neck so it is really sad

  • @Natalie9911 yeah

  • @Natalie9911 It is a sad story but none of us have/wanted to take it to the extreme like you have. Take it for what it is.

  • no the next olympics are in 2012 and yes i am well aware of how difficult and rough gymnastcis are on the body thats the name of the game..suck it up and get over it. Parents think that just because they pay money to a gym and thier kids learn difficult skills that reach olympic hopeful levels that thier kid was cut out for gymnastics. Everyone isnt meant to compete in gymnastics!!!!!! no matter how much they want it..

  • ok she broke her leg why didnt she try for the next olympics ..... like uh duh

  • because the next olympics is in 2016

she would be way over 20 and doing elite gymnastics like that for many years is very hard as u may or may not no

  • She is still famous and a highly successful gymnast and going to U of Georgia, the best

  • was that in the last olypics the girl who broke her leg at the olympics?

  • well sam and chellice broke their ankle at the last olympics

  • Ummm... this story is nothing new. People get their hopes dashed all the time. Not getting her name chosen for the Olympics makes her special because....?

  • well becouse she would have made the team if she dint brake her leg

  • I'm sorry for her.

But don't you think that the stories of Yelena Mukhina,Julissa Gomez,Christy Heinrich and Sang Lan are a tad bit more sad?

  • well yes but all of the sorys r sad

  • um shes not a racist shes a great gymnast!

  • Did you ever read the blog she wrote while in Beijing for the Olympics? She made a lot of negative comments about the Chinese culture, and the fact that they didn't speak English, which made it hard for her to communicate with the local populace. Gee, Shayla, why didn't YOU learn some Chinese?

And then there was the flack about her family soliciting donations so they can all go to watch her compete in Beijing. This is BEFORE the team is even named!

  • I think that these woman don't spend much time hitting the books if you know what I mean.
