... bullshit... not the CPU... THE GPU... and intel haz none... intel suck's monkeyballs without a good GPU... or... play Farcry 2 on a core i7 with intel HD4500 GPU... lets see then... common... without AMD/ATi or nVidia... intel is just good for office like system loads...
Still role with my AMD 4000+ (single core). I need to upgrade, and the I7 is way to expensive, and to much power for me. The only reason I could justify getting this thing right now is the fact its LGA1366 Socket, and Intel kinda tossed there old LGA775 Socket in the trash. Which means if U buy a Q9300, for example, U are stuck with that thing. But, ya, gonna get new parts revolving around a Q9550.
FPS is not all about your processor it about your GPU yeah ok if u running on a celeron or maybe a pentium 4. But as long as you have a reasonable core 2 duo or better your fine!!!
yeah, my last stock bought system had celeron(OMG SO SHITTY) 1.2 ghz processor(yeah, that slow). I then decided to build my own with a better core 2 duo, then upgraded again last year with a core 2 duo e7200. Not exactly for gaming, but it gets the job done.
I'm not a gamer either. I use my sytstem mostly for work but I do wish to watch 1080 videos and blu-rays which I can't with my system. Like how you reminded me in your initial comment, I'm not ready to spend $3500+ atm.
you can get a decent gaming/media computer for less than $1000 like if you got an ok standard case not to cheap not to expensive a decent ddr2 motherboard a dual core AMD or intel and a decent graphics card like a ATI 4850 3870x2 or 3870 and like 2 or more gigs or ddr2 ram which comes to under about £400 $800
Although I'm still using a p4 but most of my parts are reusable including my case (ultra aluminus), my two raptors, 650 watt psu (cooler master) and my 30" Lcd Monitor (Samsung). Thank you for you inputs tho, but when I do purchase a new system I go all out wit it (with the exception on the video card) If I could ebay a core i7 965 for cheap I think I might get a new build started.

"The main component in your PC that determines FPS is your CPU."
Yeah, I'll just go buy a Geforce 6800 and and i7 920, because video cards don't matter.

well some people might want this core just to be future proof so they don't have to upgrade everything later on in life
hudders123 3 years ago
that'll never work there'll be another core T1000 or something soon with 8 cores and 32 threads or something

i upgraded from a 333 mhz pentium 3 to a core 2 duo 2.66 with 8800gts.
i don't think it gets much worse than that.

Core i7 kicks ass. Can I too be compensated with a Core i7 Extreme Edition system? lol

lol build your own
heartsofstone989 3 years ago
prepare to spend more on an extreme edition than you did on your entire last 2 builds!

I'm still using a P4 3.2 (Mildly OC'd to 3.36GHz)

from 4-5 years ago. I tend to buy a new system every 5-6 years.
