I'd like to think about games as art. But this is like the abstract art I've grown to hate (A LINE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CANVAS IS NOT ART DAMNIT!!). The amount of motion blur is disorienting. How slowly the character appears to move and turn is just too slow. There's no colors, no music (random ambient single flute notes are not music). It just looks soulless and unfinished. Maybe if I could see the landscape clearly I might "hmm... that's kind of pretty I guess." There's too much going against it
Modern art can be so difficult to understand (I myself didn't either during my first years of studying it)...
You think a line in the middle of a canvas (or a blank canvas) isn't art... but it's all about the artist expressing whatever is in his mind (the blank canvas can represent the void for example). That's what make something art... and that's why the notion can seem so vague nowadays (I mean, I saw guys exposing random items in a museum and the public was totally fooled).
@RadicalDreamer17 the example I used isn't even the worst one. There was a musical composer who locked himself in an isolation chamber for a peroid of time. When he came out, he "wrote" a symphony that contained NO music whatsoever. He even went so far as to have an orchestra perform the song. The orchestra didn't play a single note. What really irks me is that these artists get so much praise for doing so little. -_- Abstract art just doesn't sit right with me
Yeah, I mean really anything that is a creative expression is art. That doesn't mean it's necessarily good, or requires any effort. Which is why most abstract art is shit. (e.g. dropping a bucket of paint on a canvas and calling it 'deep')
LOL the title was cut short and said: "PS3 Exclusive - bizarre new game called The Nig..." i'm sorry i know it's immature and kind of HELLA RACIST, but still hilarious... again sorry if this offends anyone because i'm sure it will... title fails
And here I thought I was playing video games because they were a fun and great way to entertain myself. I'm sure the fact that I started playing Super Mario World when 3 is likely to impress someone now that I know it's art.
This is why video games offer a new, deeper way to interact with an artist's creation. What other medium could allow an artist to create a world for the viewer to step into and explore on by its own accord?
Its so refreashing to have such a new and unique game but i dont like the blured effect it has. I know its what the experience is supposed to be but i wanna be able to experience it all clearly
I know. Some people just can't comprehend that video games don't need to be all about shooting people/monsters in the face.
Oh well, I'm still glad there are creative people out there who are willing to take the videogame support and do something interesting with it (let's face it, this medium needs creativity more than any others... or it will become boring *says a blasé RPG fan*) instead of doing the same things over and over again.

not even a game to me looks like a trick of sony shits and all so idk this is really bizarre that i would have to make a new word c - c - c - CREPBIZLY creppy=CREP bizarre=BIZLY
This doesn't even look like a game, if so then a game I wouldn't want to play. From how gay it looks I think it was really suppose to be for the Xbox.
The last 2 minutes are amazing. The part where the man is walking (8:25) and you see his shadow is unlike any other game out there (if it's actually gameplay). It's a little touch but it adds so much. The owl's eye is pretty cool too. I hope this actually gets release ala flOw.
The last two minutes are actually videos, probably videos you unlock after "reflecting" on particular scenes. Some of them were overlayed over the gameplay during the game as he "reflected" with the X button.
This is an interesting new use for "games", as a relaxation tool, not as a challenge or anything like that.
Reminds me of Donkey Kong. Way to rip off a classic, Mr. Viola! Still that was great when the monkey threw that barrel. I could watch that over and over.
It does look weird... it reminds me of a game from back in the late 80's which was a text-based adventure 'journey' and didn't really have any definable goal... if you're in to this kind of thing it could be an interesting trip, but I think it'll go straight past most gamers...
This game looks great though, I love games that try something new. Like the guy below says, it keeps things interesting.

meh. Tone down the motion blur and provide a bit more contrast and I think the effect would be stronger.

It is more like an act piece
but I would not consider this as a normal video game for gamers
If a game that people wouldn't want to play, could it still be a "video game"?
When it runs or turns, it really make me dizzy
In my opinion, besides the dizzy motion, it's lock of depth and fun element
