jazzhog; favorite spot was the physco room/ 14th st /later casino 14 also the cheeta boy are those memories still and will always be wiht us. those days were so differant. so dam good !! thank GOD FOR YOU TUBE.....let us all that part took shear always those very fond memories. thanks for your shout out to me. jorge
Landy@ are u kidding me mediocre and Ray Baretto don't belong in the same sentence... He was 1 of the best conga players ever, he was way ahead of his time!! His style was great, his sound was awesome and All his solos tell a story.. Him and mongo were the best Latin jazz congeros of there era!!!!
Estudie, aprenda.....burro.
@ Landy. Conguero mediocre? You gotta be kiddin' son. Not only a drummer with individuality and tremendous inventiveness, but among the innovators in Lain-Jazz, Fusion and Salsa. His tune, El Watusi, made it onto Top 40 AM Radio. Find another Conguero who's been there. One of the most recorded percussionist in Jazz, recorded on Tito Puente's seminal Dancemania, and one of the bandleaders that popularized Charanga in NYC. Sheesh, do your homework before you fill the room with noise.
VAYA!
One of my foundess memories of this tune HIBROQUECIA Y FALSEDAS is coming back from Bear Mountain on one of the M&M CLUBS early boat rides, Ray and the Band started to play that tune. Everyone was told to be be back at a certain time because the boat will leave at a specific time. Well you can quess what happened, right ? A few were late very late, well every thing that was,nt nailed down started to go over board, until the boat went in reverse. Then we started to dance again the cha cha to one
@jorgecotto17 WHOA !!! That was to funny man, those were the days Bro, Manhattan Center, St. George hotel, in Brooklyn, the Corso, Monday nights @ the Village Gate etc, etc...
