I, personally, don't like the punch/taper method despite the potential speedy healing process. But I took note of the fact that he was piercing scar tissue and you don't deserved to be dissed. Nothing really went wrong except the prolonged pain, but I understand the difficulty.

Actually, the other 4 piercings he did on me were smooth sailing, including the one I had done after the one in this video. I hadn't taken good care of the piercing the first time and it got infected, healed, and I decided to re-pierce in the same spot, hence the difficulty. I'd recommend Jimmy to all my friends, since my piercings all healed really fast and when I followed his instructions they looked great.

Like I said, the only reason it stuck was scar tissue. And using a punch/taper method for surface bars isn't such an uncommon process. It's a pretty good one, and decreases healing time by a lot over surface bars I've seen done with a needle. Congrats on your many piercings, but without seeing my piercer's entire portfolio I don't really think you have any room to decide whether he's capable of doing his job or not.

I don't see the advantage of a punch tool above a huge needle, which are used for piercing hooks for suspensions. I know that place you got pierced is more sensitive than e.g. the back. Also I'm not a piercer, so I cannot see all the arguments.

The big advantage of needles above a puncher is that a needle mostly cut the skin and a puncher pushed the skin.

I did 3 suspensions so I know how it is to get to pierced with big needles and it isn't extreme painful. Mostly you feel nearly no pain.
