A Tidal Wave is not a Tsunami.

A Tidal wave is just that... A wave caused by shifting tides... AKA the moon/sun's gravity literally pulling the water away from the earth.

A Tsunami is displacement of water, you are partially correct, the water does rise, but the entire ocean simply does not. And even then, it is nothing more than a MASSIVE ripple. Tsunami = the displacement of water.

A Tidal Wave is nothing more than the waves hitting the beach repeatedly. Some are bigger than others, some are MASSIVE, just like the one in this video. However, Tidal waves are not deadly. Tsunamis are.

The power behind Tsunamis, along with the fact that they are capable of pulling people back out to sea, makes them deadly.

Tidal waves may be much "bigger", as in the swell may be taller than a Tsunami, but a Tidal Wave is not backed by millions of gallons of water, whereas Tsunamis are.
