@MrDanielTynan I am in the same boat you are Daniel. My wife is chinese and is from Fuqing, near Fuzhou and we sent our son to china when he was 6 months old. He's still there but we are going to get him soon. He's 10 months and he calls his grandma mama and it kind of kills us. But he won't remember it when he is older. It helps a lot having grandparents to take care of him when you have a lot of things on your plate.
@gegilso Yeah our future chid's grandparents are going to do a lot of the working raising him/her. It's not an ideal situation . . but they can't wait to do it! I'm too busy here hussling money and my wife is not able to raise a child for her own reasons. Anyways. . I can't remember anything prior to age 4 . . . so I'll be in the childs life more after that age. . . They won't even remember I was not there much.

There are few high schools need English teachers like your friend. If you friend have time, maybe she can make teaching as a part time job in the mean time also learn some chinese there? Just a thought.

I agree that while there are some fu zhou people who are uneducated and just plain rude, it is unfair to judge the entire Fu Zhou population based on the crudeness of a few people who can't seem to find the garbage can. I am a Fu Zhouness American who came here when I was 5 years old. I speak Fu Zhou fluently and also happen to be an attorney. Not all FJs are spit on the street and speak loudly. I have seen many other non FJ people do the same. JMHO
