We do these, but longer and harder, and with no vision and with the bypass valve open to simulate a air leak. So you have to open and close your bottle everytime you want air. Always fun!
Personal Alert Safety System, or PASS is a device built onto most SCBA harnesses or onto clipped onto a FFs' turnouts to alert anyone within a certain radius that he or she is in distress if they enter a altered state of consciousness or are forced to declare a Mayday. Though they tend to be hard to hear over your SCBA.
We've done training b4 where we've had to put our fire hoods on backwards, and someone would tighten all the straps, and wrap the mask and airline in between the straps making a big tangled mess. We'd have to untangle the airline and get on air asap, then undo all of the straps and don the airpack. All while wearing full turnout gear and blindfolded by our hoods.

PASS Alarm (Personal Alarm Safety System), or some call it ADSU (Automatic Distress Signal Unit), but most commonly PASS Alarm.

we have done similar drills like this, but in the dark and with stuff over our mask to reduce visibility.
