Haha, oh wow, what a tard. Mac OS X might be the best operating system in the world if you're not very good at handling computers. Windows lets you access the system files manually (like why wouldn't you want to be able to?) so if you can locate the virus, you can program it to get deleted on the next computer boot up. The only reason you are less inclined to get viruses on MAC OS X is because Windows is a much more popular OS, therefore more viruses are aimed at it. Search google for MAC virus.

Actually windows does let you edit these files. In fact I can delete them right now. Of course you can't delete something that is currently being used, so I'd have to do it on bootup. But to say it's not possible is plain ignorance.

Try to edit imageres.dll in system32 in Vista. You've got to change the permissions to be able to change this file. A lot of files can't even be edited after changing permissions, because they're in use. Why should it be obvious you can't edit a file that's in use? In Linux (I don't know for sure about Mac OS) you can edit files which are in use and you can even delete a mp3 while it's playing. In Windows you need to wait a few seconds before you can even delete a setup-file after it's finished.

Moreover Windows is a bit more open, it's easier to design programs for amateur or open-source programmers. So technically yes it might just be that it's easier to design viruses for windows as well. Mac however is very closed and doesn't want you to use anything but the inherit programs like itunes, quicktime etc. who are for the record terribly coded, slow, bloated and doesn't come close filling the functions as many third party projects designed for windows.
