  • What a retard to leave voltages on auto .. and tell others to do so =)))

  • can i do the same with p5q pro? :D

  • nice recording retard, HEARD OF STEADY HANDS?

  • What is the music you are playing in the background?

    Great job on the overclock.

  • lol i can't even get my q9450 to overclock to 3.2ghz stably,i have mine running on a 680i lt sli motherboard, and i have a closed system luqid cooling system.

  • @trainergames you have to push more vcore

  • @Apfitt i tried that lol,i got all the way up to 1.3625V,trying to get it stable, but when i set to that my rig would get stuck on the mobo makers splash screen, and i would have to reset the bios, but i have now found out the problems that are keeping me from being able to overclock, one,the q9450 is not supported on the 680i board(it's not stable at stock either),i have switched to a q6600 i have lying around, but now i can't overclock it cause my psu is a POS,

  • @trainergames Try updating your bios to latest version, many motherboards needed updates when 45nm cpus came to s775. Then check your ram sticks speeds, that all the sticks have the same brand. mixing brands etc is never good

  • @Apfitt Well i asked on the nvidia website,(before you read on,i did not build this pc, i bought it used in craigslist)and they said my board does not 100% support the yorkfield cpu's even with a bios update, and the ram i had been running was 2x2gb ddr2 1066 patriot viper, but is atuomaticly ran at @ 800mhz by the mobo because the mobo only 800mhz stock, but i have now in it,a q6600,and 2x2gb ddr2 800mhz coasir XMS2,and i can only get it mostly stable at 3.2ghz,but can't go higher cause of my PSU.

  • Ty for help, I'm a total noob. I'm trying to overclock my Q8300 @ 2.5 GHz to at least 3 GHz so I can get higher performance for BOINC applications.

  • Thank you very much man i`m a noob but thanks to your vid and some tutorials i have overclock my q9400 from 2.66 to 3.20 tested for a few hours and works very good. Thanks again nice work

  • Backgroud music is useless almost annoying

  • and all other voltages on "AUTO" LOL.

I think you have 1,6V VTT and 1,8V on the NB.

Have fun with your System, so long it lives. :D

  • on this fucking youtube is not quad core setings?:|:|:| just this intel core :|

  • and if your oc is not passing 1 hour of occt or a good 10 hours on prime then your overclock is a bad overclock and will do two things first destroy your cpu soon and secondly perform worse then even finding a lower stable overclock because instead of finding unusued transisters all your doing is burning out good transisters in your cpu.

  • hey what tests did you run on this to make sure its stable have you ran occt. i would like to actually see that overclock pass occt. i have the same cpu. and 3.5 is the best i can do safely with out going over the vid which you already did the vid is 1.3625. and your not even over voltaging your northbridge. i really doubt that passes your occt show me that it does.

  • I have a new mobo on way (Asus P5Q Deluxe) any tips on clocking my Q9450?

  • Hey bro, thks for the tip. Did my Q9505 at 3612.5MHz on FSB 425MHz. Will be trying to push it further this weekend to see whether it'll hit 4GHz. Must I need to run Prime to see for stability? Thks in advance.

  • @geraldlkc You dont "need" to run prime, but it is an efficient way to 'stress test' your system as you can keep loading it up until each core is running a process and thereby achieve 99-100% CPU usage.

During this I would watch the temperature ( your motherboard should have come with a bit of software to monitor the temps in windows).

The small suggestion I have is to clock the fastest u can get, then go back maybe 150mhz so ur not right on the edge.

  • @Babyalien83 Thks again, Bro. BTW, nice avatar you've got there.

  • hey dude, i want to overclock my asus p4p800 cpu but i dont know how much i need to increase the voltage in proportion to clockspeed. do u know a website where i can read about voltages on asus cpu's?

  • what cooler do you use?

  • Ofcourse that your overclock isn't stable

  • would you guys recommend getting a q9650 from an e8400 or getting a 5850 from a gtx 260 i can only get one or the other

  • Uhm, mines called a Q9400, but all the tuts on youtube are for Q9450, am I missing something?

  • @MagnuM2980

q9400 has the same frequency has a q9450 but only 6mb level 2 cache, whereas the q9450 has 12mb level 2.

  • Is it watercooling ?

  • What is your make on the CPU cooler, that is some low temps, nothing in the comments showed the actual cooler type, thanks

  • i have a Q9450 and i think the temperatures are to high because everest / speed fan / real temp tell me that core temperature's are 70C and cpu temperature 50C on full load and while not on full load like 50C cores or lower and cpu like 30 or so should i worry about the core temp or cpu temperature?

  • wow voltages on auto omg. Your Board overvolted. have fun.

  • Comment removed

  • i was only able to get 3.4ghz on air i think i did a good job

  • what cind of cooling do you have???

  • try gaming at 1.THRUUUUEEESAVENN volts for a sustained period of time, unless you want to be replacing your parts I suggest you don't tell noobs to try get those speeds, also list your ambient temps cause its probably a freezer in your room.

If your a noob heed my advice, clocking your cpu to 3.88ghz maybe ok (a bit too high for a safe clock imo) but clocking your ram to his speeds is stupid especially if you have value ram installed,

  • What's the name of the song playing in the background bro? It's beautiful!

  • emma nelson - feel

  • @Babyalien83 i had an nvidia 780i XFX CAN I USE THE SAME AS YOU DO IN THE TUTORIAL?THE SAME TWEAK?

  • Do you have a Samsung monitor? Just noticed, because that's how my friends samsung does when it boots up.

  • That's relly nice, but you can't cool a q9450 @ 3.88 at 32°C with an air cooling. And you should setup the GLTs.

  • yeah but at my computer i have a problem .... the temperature is high... 47C not 32

  • is 47 too much?

  • no, 47c is fine at load. at idle, it's a bit much, but as long as it doesn't exceed the temperatures stated on intel spec finder, you'll be fine.

  • if overclocked,its normal

  • what programs did you download, there,

  • what cpu fan are u useing please tell me

  • Can i use this for a Q9550 too?

  • yeah was wondering the same thing

  • Any configuration AUTO ??

Why that? Thats not so good i think

  • wat do u reckon i will be able to get a watercooled q9450 to on a asus striker II extreme????

  • This is for sure a "Lazy Over"...kkkkkk

He just needed to change the CPU and RAM voltages....Very nice the project of these P5Q-E's..!!!

  • thats right! im a novice! its my first gaming pc! i wanna learn about overclocking but im a bit scared to do it because it is a risky something to begin with if being a rookie? Is there any danger involved when you overclock? But on the other site yes i buyed the expensive hardware because i maked up my mind and maked a important decision.Vista is not compatible with some games and software thats why i prefered Xp more but Vista got its good points.and....

  • oke, ill send you a message, with some oc explantion

    grt

  • this was for 80DeadSpace08

  • Thanks for the good advice man!

I gonna give it a try.but for now i just try but not gonna use it?maybe in de future. But thx .now i can practice a bit and learn from you and other harcoregamers .

  • I got :

INTEL I7 3.2 Ghz extreme edition (black label)

    ASUS RAMPAGE 2 EXTREME

    NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX295

    ANTEC NINE BAYS GAMINGCASE

    WINDOWS VISTA ULTIMATE SP 1

    1000GB HARDDISC

    1000W ANTEC POWERSUPPLY. =D =D=D One thing--->Vista is sh1t !

  • so...? why you show off? tell us how much you overclocked, thats what were interested in. ill bet you dont know anything 'bout hardware, just bought the most expensive...

and another thing, vista isn't shit.

  • cool... and now my question. i got an asus p5q deluxe. can i still use your tutorial? or better i'd not?

  • it will come pretty close. try going for 3.5Ghz to start with and only push if you feel comfortable

  • and how do i know the voltnumber for it? i dont think that i shud take 1.39 or what ever you used for 3.88

  • he's running cracked vista.....lolz

  • i have a dell pc honest mr officer nothing to see here :P

  • give me a break mate, u can clearly see after POST, the bootloader of a cracked copy of vista running........, no retail vista does that. and dell pc with P5Q-E motherboard, I don't think soo.....anyway nice o/c

  • Hi i am going to get a new computer and i cant afford a quad core, i want overclock a E5200 to about 3ghz maybe 3.2ghz is this safe and it it easy to do??

    Asus P5KPL

    Cooler Master CM-690 Dominator

    OCZ 600W StealthXStream PSU

    Sony DRU-860S 22x DVDRW

    250GB Maxtor/Seagate SATA2

    OCZ 4GB 1066MHz PC2-8500 Gold

    Pentium Dual Core E5200,

    Arctic Cooling Freezer 7 PRO

    Window XP home

  • are you swedish? cuz i can really know when a person is swedish or not XD! your voice sounds like a typical swedish-accent

not the best guide for noobs but its good!

  • what cooling solution do you applied to get these temps?! :O

  • the case has 6 fans, 1 of which is 320mm

the cpu has a massive fan that i got with the pc, i didn't know anything about water so got the biggest fan i could with good reviews.

Also thermal paste i paid the extra coupla quid for the super one.

And the room i generally like cool!

  • sbav! :)

  • the room temperature is most likely around 15 degrees.

  • Yeah I would avoid getting higher than 1.36 as listed on Intel's site for this board. You may start getting chip degradation over time with that high of voltage.

Usually you can get 3.7Ghz with 1066 DDR2 with it at the recommended maximum, not much of a sacrifice if you ask me for a safer OC. Also, show your NB voltage settings if it lets you view them, I know they show as Auto but some BIOS have the ability to monitor the voltage.

Is VDROOP much an issue on this when kicking up from idle?

  • lol I got a E5200 to 4.14GHz on this Mobo

  • it's a very good mobo, i read some fantastic shit regarding e8400.

  • i have e8400 and p5q pro

  • very high for a q9450

  • Man your voltage is not safe.1.36-1.37 omg

  • lol you thing that's high? LOL

  • Whos a naughty boy wif a crack version of vista then :)

  • its a dell pc honest officer :P

  • i have a queastion i have neraly the same rig and all i havent tryed increase the voltage yeat, cant you just type 1,3 instead of all that wired stuuf 1,3854 ect

  • U can, but its quite a precise balance

  • okay then my quad reaches 3,50 ghz stble without changin th volage wha about your :)

  • it goes quite high before you need to change voltage or any settings.

  • yes your right its wery nice :]

  • 1.37 Volts.. christ what temps are you reading clocked to nearly 3.9?

Is this on air cooling or what?

There is no way I could hit 25C from those voltages and speed... I hit about 35/40C with a 3.2 GHz oc.

    Mad.

  • I have the same mobo but i have a Q6600, but dont you need to change FSB and the multipliere to go op in GHz? I dont seem to find it anywhere

  • My HP slimline

2.3ghz AMD Athlon dual core 64 bit

    4gb of ram

    ATI Radeon HD 3450 DDR2 256MB pci e 16x 2.0 low profile

    250gb sata 7200rpm hard drive

  • what do you mean about the ddr2 800 thing? nice vid tho, I am going to have the same setup, q9450 and p5qe with kingston hyperx ddr2 800.

  • you can't use USB device without sub power suply.

    because P5Q.

  • I Have the same mobo, but the intel Q9400 2.66 ghz. I cant do overclock, even at 3.0, that the pc dont start, my cooler is original, i thinking thats is the problem.

  • i ain't an expert but make sure when u clock, ur memory doesn't go to far. if you have ddr2 800 ram, you will have to drop that back. there is guides how to find out what is causing the problem, but to get the best you're gonna have a lot of reading and patience

  • flash your bios to the latest version.

  • Nice sound quality, thanks. Just need a good CPU cooler as my temp is too hot.

  • People, don't follow this guys directions.

He never ran anything such as Prime 95 to our knowledge, and his cpu could be running VERY hot and VERY unstable..

Also, not all CPU's are equal and not all CPU's can achieve 3.8Ghz

  • Yeh some stability testing would be good...I wouldnt trust those settings to hold up against prime95. I've got practically the same system on air and get the Q9450 to 3.8 with tweaking ALL the settings...especially the FSB voltage (@1.4V).

This series of processors can go quite high on voltages (ONLY WITH GOOD COOLERS!) I've had mine up to 1.5V and it lives. at 1.46 now. My cpu temps in vista are around 48C.

  • wats the name of that trance song! its pretty kewl soft melody ...not as good as the cynical project tho!

  • emma nelson - feel

  • You didn't explain a shit! Guide for noobs my ass.

You just presented values you used to get your cpu OC.

JohanKH have point.. YOU HAVE NO CLUE.

First learn the trade then sell it.

  • i don't have a clue no. I know the very basics, and thats all this is for i don't pretend to know it all. I say i am noob at overclocking.

The video shows how to overclock tho. Thats all most people wanna know. If people wanna know the ins and outs, this isn't the video. This is the basics for noobs as myself.

  • You so much have no fucking clue what you are doing. "I don't know what that is", "leave execution bit disabled", 485 MHz ram, 1.39 volt CPU.

Execution bit are used to prevent some software exploits, that is for gaining administration access on unix machines or eventually for some virus to become a user with more access to the machine in Windows thought not very much needed since almost everyone is administrators already and do wtf they want.

  • ... 485 MHz ram works because you have 1066/533 MHz ram, for someone who have bought 800/400 the machine would start to crash all the time if the memory modules survived it.

Why set all memory settings to manual in case the automatic settings are just fine?

Increasing voltage is because it was probably unstable at lower voltages, on the other side higher voltage will give higher temps so obviously there is an increased risk there. I don't know what CPU cooler you have?

  • How do you get in the configure system performance settings menu?

I cant find it at all. :p

  • Press DEL key repeatedly as your PC is starting up (way before the vista loading screen)

  • what were those programs you used to monitor everything.

  • apart from the stuff that came with the mobo

    i used:

    cpuZ

    gpuZ

and possibly rivatuner (for gfx) i can't remember if i showed it in this vid

  • How do I chk this on my laptop

do I need a software to chk it ?

  • hit DEL on startup its will get you into BIOS

not sure how laptops overclock if at all

  • what PSU?

  • air or watercooled??

  • man i think max OC q9450 on air cooling using a cooler Zalman 9700 with two fans 80mm on zalman laterals u can get 3.5ghz stable !! 15Ghz =D

  • .. 15ghz?

  • he ment 14 Ghz

  • ...They don't add up

  • Hi

I'm am about to buy a Asus P5Q-E together with a Q9550 and Corsair TWIN2X 6400C4DHX DDR2,4096MB Kit w/two CL4. I'm not into overclocking but would like to at least reach 3,2GHZ on each core of the processor. What do you think for such a small oc, is it enough to only change the FSB from stockspeed to 400Mhz (8x400= 3200)or are some other changes required and in that case what would they be?

    Thanks

    Isak

  • very cool vid man i should try that sometime

  • Are you watercooling? If not then I suspect your temp readings are incorrect so try using the Core Temp program.

  • i got to get me an overclocking mobo instead of doing it with a program

  • You should also set DRAM Command Rate to 2T unless RAM does 1T. Also set the FSB/NB Strap to 333-400 for best results I would guess.
