I have always come back to the SLADE. I've seen Disco, Soul, Pop, Rock, Glam Rock, Death Metal etc.... They were just .... FUN!!! When you realize life is short...Fun is what you look for.
I think a good band is one where the whole is greater than sum of the parts - that was certainly true of Slade. I've seen them live and every member of the bands individually oozed charisma and enthusiasm on stage - but togethwer they were unstoppable, definately the greatest band live band I've ever seen- absolutely awesome, shame there is so very little live footage :-(
Yes indeed Dave Hill was all part of it, I'd say they were BOTH the front men of the band, with Nod being the main singer as well getting his hairy chops in, just that bit more.
It's like I always say, Nod had the 'Cred' and Dave had the Cult.
Slade helped make the 70's a really enjoyable decade.
The best for many of the over fourties.
A decade of great musical verierty.
This number and 'come on feel the noise' are two belters, that even have the grannies dancing at village hall do's.
Noddy was a brilliant frontman for the band, however i don't think the group would have been as big as they were without Dave Hill. Dave and Don are still touring, and Dave is still so energetic on stage, Fantastic
The Sound of The Slade, The Sweet, T. Rex and (unfortunately...) Gary Glitter kicked ass in the 70´s and is kickin´it up until today more powerful to me then EVERYTHING I hear in today´s Radio!!!
Fantastic!! feel that bass and energy!! aggression in a simple 12 bar riff!! Dont it make ya feet tap and feel like saying Feck the music of today?.. play it loud and proud!! get the feel good factor back in music!!
Get in touch with me if you agree?.. I was in school with Andy Scott of The Sweet..
