You Can! I use a Sounds and Lights of Christmas controller I got from Menards for like $75.00.
It has 20 songs preprogrammed and six channels. The problem is, as my display gets bigger, I want more channels(more strings controlled seperately), but then it gets expensive, and time consuming, because I woud have to program it.
