no charges should have been filed if they were based on the fact that the driver was on a restricted road., you know why? because i bet his customer gave him directions to the car dealership and that road was what he was told to take by either his customer or his dispatcher. 98% of the time a truckdriver is not at fault for being on a restricted road
its his damn custmer or dispatcher that probably gave him the directions. They are responsible.
as soon as he wnet on that road he knew the risks of what could happen and took it. the breaks failed because a truck can't handle the weigt on that type of road which is why they failed. Its his fault and he deserves what he got.
Semi's use drum brakes because thre is more contact area. Not all Semi's have jake brakes or retarders. When going down a long hill the brakes become over heated and create a gas that basically renders them inoperable. High performance vehicle use vented disks to help siphon off these gasses. However with drum brakes the gasses get caught in the drum its self. Drum brakes are actually more effective at lower temperatures than disk brakes because of the increased surface area.
Some restricted roads have no signs warning except up to they are writing u your ticket...

I hope we don't find out that the driver was trying to do his part in the war against literacy.
