Vintage CCW, I love it when you guys discuss industry standards etc. This what made me fall in love with CCW in the first place...so awesome :) love it guys!
I watched that Invincible review from a couple of weeks ago and u guys said how good it was. U guys were right!!! I picked up a trade of it from my library and it's been great. I had already heard of Invincible and would always see it at the Comic book store I just never got around to reading it, but always wanted to.
haha good stuff man i havent been watching for a while good im watching now i agree with the jumping on shit like marvels charging 3.99 for a first issue of a book thats 32 pages WTF and 5 dollars for dark reign tie in specials!?! i am also i little disapointed in the fans for not standing up. also, they still do cup o joe i used to read it on myspace but they stopped posting it months ago
I agree with kurumais. Fall of the Hulks and Necrosha are Not company wide events they're just events that touch certain corners of the Marvel U. If your counting those than DC has just as many. They have Blackest Night, World of New Krypton, and they had the crossover in the Superman books. By the way I love events, and I like Marvel and DC equally.
Comics should cost 75 cents considering page count and content. Publishers blaming printers only works if you never pick up another magazine with 150 to 200 pages that costs $5.95.
All I am saying is DC is just as guilty as marvel in fact DC started the whole event thing with COIE. They followed that up with lots of events, millennium, invasion, DC 1mil, Armageddon, zero hour, just off the top of my head. Im sure i missed a few. there really isnt much difference between marvel and DC they both use events to get us to buy more books then we usually do.
No, no. I have a few different kits that I have bought over the years . Living in the U.S. nobody gives a damn if I have more than one team jersey. I would never ever do this outside of the country though.
it gives you FC submit and superman beyond 1 and 2 which helps explain were that tatoo came from and were the villian at the end came from. if you already read these then yea i geuss it wouldnt help ya,...
Now I'm going to contradict my last comment, but let's be fair here guys. Aren't all the Blackest Night tie-ins in existence to make money as well? I mean, I liked BN Wonder Woman #1, but was that issue really essential to the main mini? And if I want to read Superman, I basically have to buy all the Superman books because of the WONK tie-in. DC does some of that shit too, although not nearly as much.
Yes, in all fairness, you make a valid point. But the quality of the BN tie-ins have far surpassed all the Dark Reign tie-ins which looked like they were slapped together to be able to boost the bottom line. Yes, BOTH companies are guilty of exploiting the 'event' strategy, just lately Marvel has been getting ridiculous. IMO, of course.
good stuff guy i agree 100% i got into comics a couple years ago and with all the events going on it took me forever to get cought up to speed from all the back issues i had to buy
Imagine the clusterf**k if you would review the train wreck that is Fraction's Uncanny. The Fraction defense squad will be working overtime to attack ya.
We've talked about Fraction's X-Men in the past and we've been honest: for as much as we LOVE his Iron Man, we're not crazy about his X-Men. We'll often say that it seems like there are two different writers working on the books!
DC idenity crisis/ omac/villiansunited/rannthanagarwar/daysofvegence/infinitecrisis/1yearlater/52/countdown/finalcrisis/legionof3worlds/FCrevalations all in a freakin row then battle for the cowl and superman world of krypton
dc drove me away first with event fatigue i think dc hurt a lot of their titles during the lead up too infinite crisis
Infinite Crisis was about five years ago. There has been a ton of amazing material from DC since then. I agree with Dan Didio on this one..."event fatigue" means the event didn't work.
Marvel has more volume of tie-ins than DC, k. Not every DC book was a Identity Crisis or Final Crisis tie-in. 52 was self-contained. The RIP/BFTC/RBRN and WONK only take place in the Batman/Superman Core books.
first off infinte crisis and final crisis both sucked
and we were told the minis like villians united days of vengence etc were part of a bigger whole and they had tie in to monthly books. devon grayson's woeful run on nightwing went from bad to worse because she had to tie it into villians united. also we were told grant morrison 7 soldiers was going to be an important part of FC while i thought those books were good to great they did nothing for FC. DC is guilty too
Sorry what I meant to type was, are you more of a Marvel guy or DC guy these days? Villians United lead to an ongoing Secret Six book, which is one of my favorites this year. So I'm leaning DC more these days.
i was mr DC during the 90s early 2000s the events drove me away which i thik is the reverse of most folks here in that they are being driven to DC and away from marvel by events
secret six is awesome but i miss wally as flash young justice chuck dixon batbooks PAD aquaman dc is in a new silverage which i didnt like the first time
@generaldark no but a couple a months agio re read my FC issues all at once everythi ng south of superman whistling darkseid to death was pointless and the love story betwwen the 2 moniters that i never heard of b4 and probably never will again annoyed me
@generaldark is there extra material not contained in the issues? i cant see how reading a trade is going add something reading the individual issues all in row is missing.
@kurumais He he. Seriously though, it was a pretty big part of Final Crisis and is in the hardcover collection. I think that's why generaldark was recommending you read the collection because you really do get the whole story there.
@comicculturewarrior so i bought the FC issues the FC revelations isuues and FC legion of the 3 worlds and the lead in where jonn jonz got killed and still get the whole story???? i need to get the hardcover? i need the 3D issues in order to finally have the full glory of the FC narrative revealed to me?
and we are not calling BS on this one? why exactly?
also dc asked fans to buy a book a week for 2 years btween 52 and countdown how much money is that in 2 years? guilty
I DID call BS back when these mini's were coming out on our videos. I was pretty pissed that you HAD TO read Superman 3-D in order to understand the last issue of Final Crisis.
I also called BS on DC for fucking up continuity with Countdown and Death of the New Gods. Trust me, earlier in the year we were calling out DC for some serious BS on a regular basis.
I would like to take this opportunity to once again thank you guys for doing this show. I don't think enough people are addressing these issues that affect us all as comic fans.
A comic book should not be the same price as a box of cereal. I'll take my Crunch Berries any day over Spider-man.
I've been watching you guys for a while now, and I find it hilarious that each week you become more and more jaded about the industry. Asking Joe Q to kiss you before he fucks you is both equal parts creepy and disturbing. And that's why I watch you guys!
I agree with you guys, I'm currently a student and theres no way I'm buying Marvel books when I need to spend my money carefully. (Unless I hear good things about the series, one's such as: X-force, which I still have to look into more.)
Keep in mind that Joe Q did prevent Marvel from backruptcy... but yeah currently he is driving a stake through Marvel. I don't buy anywhere near the Marvel books I used to because of crap like this
joe q attacking dc just makes him look childish and as for upcoming events the only one i want is doom war, because doctor doom is my favourite marvel villan
o and let me just say this, MARVEL is giving 3.99 books a bad name as well. because of them they make me not want to buy boom comics and id like to but because of marvel they make me really scared about buying one.
LOL Smart & funny. DC mega events (Id. Crisis, Inf. Crisis,52, Final Crisis & Blackest Night) w/ smaller one to fhree books per month mini events (Batman RIP, Sinestro Corps War),
Marvel was just bought by Disney!!! They should be able to have books at $2 and make a profit.
