I can only speak for myself but Dr. Hauser has helped me. In my opinion Dr. Hauser is a medical pioneer and a wonderful caring doctor that doesn't just write you an RX and send you on your merry way.

as far as MS causing imunosupression, That is BS!!! The pain and suffering causes more immune compromise that the Narcotic meds could ever do!

Narcotics are habit forming and you can become dependant on them, but put everyone in a single room as the same Pt., is foolish.

People who are in pain (even mild pain) live shorter lives because of the stress from the pain.

Ok Doc... I went off the narcotics for 3 months and I woke up 3-4 times a night from the pain. My job suffered, my wife left me, my friends said I was very moody and argumentative. I lost my concentration. I couldn't drive; sitting for long times really caused bad back pain. I'm allergic to aspirin so that limits any anti-imflamatory drugs! Sooo Doc, I tried and the pain from stopping the narcotics almost killed me.

it's so easy for people without pain to talk crap but once your in the loop you know it's hard to get out. pray to god you never have pain that you need meds cause you will have a whole diffirent outlook on the situation.

This SO called Dr. (LOL) is a joke. I have had 4 surgeries this year rwo of which were two back surgeries in two months, and neither one worked for my back. Why are you a Dr? Dr. Hauser is a moron, pain acutally supresses immune function. Tramadol, Muscle Relaxers, sleeping pills make you act stupid, Opioids saved my life when I was diagnosed with leukemia for the third time I was in unimaginable pain. My uncle is an MD and he thinks this Dr is a complete Loon, my uncle has been practicing for 30 years.

Dr. Hauser is young and doesn't understand many things about chronic pain.

As a pain patient myself, I have been healthier (fewer infections, colds, etc) after receiving long-term opiate treatment than I was prior to receiving effective pain treatment.

High-level chronic pain also causes many other problems including a decreased immune system.

There are no "one-size-fits-all" solutions. Some patients do better with opiates. Some do not.
