rectangle tanks are much better, my BiOrb kinda sucks, and its the 30L and i prefer my old tank, holds more fish and better to see them, plus BiOrb has restrictions like only pellet food and filter has to be changed more often.
@Edward1990Ai it's crap.. get a tank.. and supply your own components. canister filtration is still the most efficient.. in my opinion. (and live plants.)
I'm getting the BiOrb for my betta! Just one question, Can you choose the level of power for the volcano thing? (I'm pretty sure it's a filter - Is it?) Please answer
@SmilensayHello I put a Betta in my Biorb too, and had to buy a valve for the pump (I also replaced the original BiOrb pump as it's very noisy). To be frank, though, I am very disappointed with my BiOrb and wish I had done a lot more research before buying it. There are a huge number of slightly less pretty but substantially better aquariums out there - ultimately the filtration system in the BiOrb isn't up to the task.
@Wilystorm I would say no. I fought with my BiOrb for about three years until I said enoughs enough. I have been creating beautiful and successful fish tanks for years and this is just set up for disaster. I say a nano cube fish tank is much much much more worth it. :D good luck!!
@hammies4ever No dude biorbs are considered the type of tank that might kill your tank and im not just any stupid guy who is tellign you this because i had 9 yrs experience with tanks of all kinds and biorbs is the worst because of its orbic size which makes the fish cramp a lot and that bi orb tanks will not exceed more than 2 fish per tank man. And dont get me wrong i think biorbs are cool as well but im just saying they can be very very very bad
@titaniumkiller i totally agree, i've only owned fish by myself for abotu 2 years, and the moment i saw the orb i shuddered. maybe a large on for a betta...but no goldies!
@titaniumkiller I have 45 years experience, and background in ocean sciences and have to agree there is a certain amount of skill needed for these set ups (and if people would only do some real research ie read books on their target fish and bio types they are from)... Nano (what we called small in my younger years) are harder to keep ie water chemistry and all... yet I had a long small guppy tank, full of Sagittarius (like a forest) no equipment/self maintained. ie balanced.
I found huge acrylic globes in NYC China town (before these hit the market) some 32 inches at wide point! I filled them about 2/3's full, internal filter (old box type) tons of Anubias, java moss on base of wood (wood coming out of top) and again if you set it up correctly it will stay clean, and balanced. (my tip is bio bugs from commercial outlet) ONE betta for that huge globe who was in heaven! I used a spot halogon over the top (wall mount) sat on chinese stand. Lovely til sold it.
Very nice fish & mint Biorb! Just out of interest is it better to use the bubble diffuser or not? Cos when the bubbles are bigger (not diffused) it seems to pull the water through faster so i assume this is giving better filtration. Is this the case?
I love how the light surrounds the bottom like a Halo, The convex like arcrylic is a great effect, bending light it can make a dark room look really nice,
that is the noisiest aquarium i have ever heard

@roddenshaw Maby you're doing something wrong, the filteration system works really well as long as you change it every 6-8 weeks.

@SmilensayHello the volcano is just an ornament not a filter

Cool, who knew that a glass globe could look so nice! Good job and love how well the fish show-up!
