This is ok if you have a newer TV but if your tv is older than 5 years old and it doesn't have a vga or svideo then this tells you nothing that will help you.. You will need to buy a converter box that converts vga to rca if you want to connect a laptop to an older tv.

Ya the computer has vga allready iin use by my monitor, it has hdmi not in use a dvi not in use. The tv only has three rca ports in the front of it. It has a port on the back that I call the cable port because my cable tv is in it. The tv is about a 2002 model phillips. na the cord they use is a s-video to a s-video. ive got a s-video to a yellow RCA! and they dont tell you how to use that and change the settings on your pc to make it work.

just plug the s-video to ur computer and put the yellow RCA to the tv input and if the pc recieved a signel there will be pop up windows ( in vista dont know what happens in XP) and this windows will ask u to choose whether u want the screen mirror or ...etc if this doesnt work after u connect the cords open windows mobility center ( in vista) and press connect display .

the only s-video connection on my laptop is the 7 pin one. and ive connected my cable to that and the other end to the TV rca but nothing happens. And also i tried going into windows mobility center ( in vista) and press connect display but that said it couldnt detect anything.

sry dude but i think u must see ur desktop screen to configure the display but try to connect the vga cable from any computer screen if ur laptop is new prefered a new monitor and connect it to ur laptop if it works then get the cables then configure the laptop on the monitor then connect it to tv or w/e display.
