Yes, he did. He always said his favorite singer is Tony Bennett. When he signed Trini under Reprise..he did say Trini is the best entertainer

I knew he said that Bennett was his favorite singer.....I just didn't think he'd refer to Trini as the best entertainer....he is quite good though lol.

He had to believe Trini showed promise, it wasnt until his third release on Reprise that he had a big chart hit (and this is during a time most performers would be dropped if their first release flopped). Not to mention he had several releases after that were released exclusively in other countries and not in america...
