if i get this i think ill have to find a ome for more fans :P since the 1st 3 are on the motherboard lol... maybe just get it for the temp reading and the coolness and nt bother with the controller
its smart that it cant go past 40% because if you try to hold the fans back, it causes stress on the transistors, causing them to heat up and possibly break
@NicholasVillanueva but what are the recomended locations? in front of the fan, or around random locations in the case? there must be a strategic placement in order to get the full benefit of the temp probe's temp reading.
Is it possible to control the fans all at the same time? I'd love to get one of these but it would be a pain to tone down the fans one at a time every night when I wanna watch a movie or go to sleep.
This is definitely one of the best unboxing views I have seen. MOst unboxing videos are done by a squeky voice kid who whines and shit. I like that your voice is normal. So thanks for that, as it makes it much easier to tolerate the video which is good overall.
You can't go bellow 40% on those fans because most fans need a minimum amount of power to power on.. And the Sentry 2, and almost all fan controllers for that matter, controls the fans' speed by tweaking the voltage up and down.
@TraxCreations1 VGA card is the technical term and the original term for graphics card, graphics card is the lazy slang term for VGA card, it originally came from the first 15 pin analog VGA output on older graphics cards
great review seems like a great fan controller for the money. can i ask how you would attach the CPU temperature probe, would this probe sit directly on top of the CPU then the cooler sit on top of that, or would you attach it to the heat sink on the CPU? ive done a google search but no luck. cheers
@neo36uk I would put the prob between the HS and cpu it would create a gap between the two and wouldn't Transfer heat. You use the thermal tape they give with the product and tape it to the HS ( on the fins, top of the block, around a heat pipe, etc.)
@NicholasVillanueva cheers mate, will see if i can find room on my v8 cooler, if that fails i might strip the lot down and place the sensor at the rear of the mobo directly behind the cpu, seems a good place
Nick -- Thanks for the video. I ordered my PC from Cyber Power and had this fan controller included in the config. You did a great job explaining this device!
@jaeedwards1 You could I wouldnt recommend putting the probe between your heatsink and CPU but I used a piece of thermal tape to stick it under the block where the cpu didnt touch and attached the fan to one of the fan controls
is the automatic fan controll adjustable? cuz on my current panel the fans go up to 100% as soon as a probe hits 50 °c.. even 30 °c which is the idle temp inside my case keeps the fans at 70%.. would be nice if the nzxt could be adjustable in that way
@mrRocstar96 yes the temp probes are all single 2 pin "jumper style" connectors and they are like hot glued together but you can just pop the glue off and use them one by one.
Hi! do you have the coolermaster storm scout? In this case I have a question, do you control the stock red led fans with the sentry 2? Because they have standard 4 molex connection. It is possible to connect them to the sentry 2 and control the speed? At low speed they make lower noise, or they're the same? Thanks for the answers!!
@rach260385 Ok yes this is the storm scout. and I have one of the stock fans being controlled with the sentry 2 ( to lazy to replace ) the sentry fan has a 4 pin molex for each channel ( fan ) and it also has a 3pin coming off that. So it will work with a molex or a 3pin. And yes at lower speeds it does make less noise.
@muiecyrus you know you can set a temp for the alarm. But I dont think that changes the speed of the fan. I would say it doesnt from personal experience. But if anyone wants to correct me on that cause Im not 100% with that.
@bradrhoades102840 the way I did it was taped the probe( with the thermal tape supplied with the unit ) to the HS of the Cpu as close As I could to the cpu your not going to get the actual temp of the core with that though. Same for the gpu also
@MJBDC7 Umm The cathode itself no. But the inverter that comes with a cathode... I mean technically it should work. I haven't done it myself. So im not going to guarantee this will work or that it wont break the sentry
@productfeedback no each temp prob is connected to the ribbon of cables but the connectors are separate. So all you have to do is pull the cable off the ribbon.
@NicholasVillanueva Just let me re-clarrify, the temp probes are connected together into one main plug which can be undone? Correct.
Then the 3 pin powers can individually be connected depending on what you want correct? So, if you need 2 cables, just connect them into the Controller and remove the ones you do not need?
The reason i am asking is just to minimize on excess cables.
@jrdnhsnbrg yes since leds dont dim that well they will still be lit. you can see a difference between the fan being at 100 compared to 50 but not much
@Game4YouProductions We could do that, but then what's the point of "UNBOXING VIDEOS", it should be laid out on the table already minus the "BOXES!!!!" >.>

Under 40% is below the operating voltage of most fans.
You can't go below 40% because most fans can't physically keep spinning with that low a voltage.
