Every region in Japan has (or had, bon odori has sadly stopped in some areas) folk tunes depicting the local customs and life-styles. There are probably as much dances as there are folk tunes. Also, new dances are being invented as new ondo and bushi are written yearly. But Goshu Ondo dates back to when Shiga Prefecture was called "Goshu." (Hence the name "Goshu Ondo.") You should look into it more if you are interested. :-)
