And the gag, they're 2 singers that claim to have original songs but don't have anything prepared. The dialogue in between is written, but the songs are improvised.

...no ... that's how the skit goes. They have about 10 like this and it's always funny. Fred's character is in charge of Improving everything (name of the songs, and lyrics/tune/melody/gesture). Kristen's character watches him and tries to act like she knows what he is doing. That's the joke. That they are totally untalented and practiced "song writers" but try to play off they are. They aren't doing it cause "the skit sucked".
