Do NOT take Abilify. This drug causes extreme weight gain--approx. 7 pounds per month. And the weight gain DOES NOT level off over time. The akathesia (inner restlessness) is HORRIBLE. Being still is nearly impossible, even when I'm exhausted. Abilify also causes insomnia, joint pain and stiffness as well as hair loss. If anyone tells you there is no or very little weight gain with tihis drug, don't believe it. Diet and exercise won't solve the weight gain problem either. BEWARE!

you were prescribed it for the wrong reasons. abilify is mainly for the use of psychosis paranoia (hullucinations, racing throughts etc) and bipolar mania. any issues you have with the drug should be brought up with your Dr, not being broadcast on youtube to scare a bunch of already anxiety ridden people.

@MrHaakhen Yes you do. If you are still taking it stop now. Marijuana is better and safer if it's legal in your state by far. Therapy takes hard work but is the best treatment for social anxiety. Abilify is not meant to be take for anxiety or social anxiety! Your PHD is a quack.

Actually in the US it is classified as an anti-psychotic used to treat schizophrenia, biploar/ manic depression, personality disorders. It is not first line treatment for depression. Usually SSRI/SSNRIs are first line treatment. Abilify is usually added when these meds are not getting good results. Abilify can be quite dangerous. High blood sugar levels leading to illness or coma, permanent involuntary muscle movements(tardive dyskinesia) muscle stiffness, hallucinations, confusion. Be careful.
to adam I had to take that shit for a couple years too. It help with my ticks and most of my behavior but it made it harder for me to control my anxiety. When I was mad our upset at people I had a hard to lying about it and not let them now I was piss of at them. I had a similar side effect when they put me back on adderall because they did not put me on the right version right away. There were still issues.
there were still problem eventually the dcotor sugessted taking me of the aderrall total. I'm alot calmier and happier now but my concetrate and efficeny at geting stuf done was not working as well so they had to put me on additonal new medicine to fix that problem.
I had massive body fat weight gains from taking both ability and zeprax. On abilify I game and extra 2 to 30 pounds of fat. On zewprax I gained and extra 6 to 50 poiunds of fat. I did have increased anixety from taking abilfy as well.
you found it a good mood lifter , but found it causes anxiety bad so you have to take another med for the anxiety that it can cause. every med comes with a problem. It would be interesting to see if there is another med thats got properties like it and maybe look into that.

Stop taking this drug immediately and consult another psychiatrist who will explain that this drug is too risky.
